Pavilion a1620n won't start, the fans are not running. PS on the light and Sun. Start button does not illuminate. EU tested ps and I was told it was OK. Disconnected from the motherboard except course before directed ps button and the cpu fan has become much brighter, but that's all that happened. Any suggestions on what to check? Checked with VOM push and he seemed to agree. Replaced the MB with the new Board of Directors, that didn't work either. Don't know if it was any good, it was a store Bulletin Board.

All the indicators you mention leads to the PSU, not the Board of Directors.

My conclusion: HP BIOS/USB controller isn't working okey with WD My Book when you start the computer. If you wait about 3-4 minutes, to return to the boot. If you re-create the partition in Windows 7, you might be able to speed up the process. I have converted the MBR to GPT (Google more) and reformatted it NTFS. Reducing a starter and holds a GPT formatted, cannot be a boot disk. Now, there are about 1 min delay. If there is a switch to turn off USB Legacy support, that could help. There is not, thanks to the crappy BIOS HP. You can also seek support from Western Digital and discover interesting things.

Then, finally, it'll pass the boot.

We also bought this monitor to her (though I doubt it's important in this case):

HP S1931a 18.5 "diagonal LCD screen

The problem started about two months ago when the computer turns off without reason then that slowed down (before sleep should have started). After the computer restarts, he gave the beep codes that there was a problem with memory (1 short beep, 1 beep, long pause, repeat) long. After power back off and remove all devices and the power cable, the RAM has been removed (2 x 2 GB), checked for dust, bad seats, pins bent, etc...  The 2 RAM sticks have been resettled and the problem seems to be resolved.

Fast forward two months (a bit more under warranty), the same problem occurs. This time, replace the RAM has not fixed the problem. Sometimes the computer should boot properly and then randomly cut regardless of what the processor was doing (idle or under load of 25% or more). In addition, beep codes would perhaps only half the time where it would not start. The output has been verified for feeding and another (proven) outlet has also been tried. No change. At this point, the computer won't be enough for any start screen at all, not even a blue screen.

What he do to power on:

    • All powered fans (power supply, fan CPU cooler, case) and a spin at full speed.
    • Hard drive to wind up.
    • Green light on the power supply remains stable.
    • VA CD drive open and close normally.

What is does not power upward:

    • No display at all.
    • No beep codes.
    • No blue light on the button walk / stop (top of case).
    • CPU does NOT get hot to the touch after 5 seconds to be under tension (with the fan and the heatsink removed and unplugged).
    • With two strips of RAM not removed, no beep of any kind.

I also tried to use an old video card, I had to hang out, thinking that maybe the onboard graphics card were no longer works. The video card gets power as his fan runs, also at full speed. Still no display.

I already bought a pair of replacement RAM sticks, exact same specifications and brand (Crucial), no difference. I tried all combinations of each stick into each slot with the original of the RAM in the first place, so I assumed it was sticks and replaced. Now that the RAM has been replaced and no beep codes, I suspect the motherboard or the CPU.

I also tried to reset the BIOS by removing the battery for 10 + minutes and also move jumper to 2-3 1-2 during 10 seconds and replace (with power off).

What I want to know is which component I need to replace to get this computer working before its tax season. I'd like to think it's the processor, because it remains cold to the touch after turning on. If this is the case, can someone confirm that this is a suitable replacement? (Intel Pentium E5700 Wolfdale 3.0 GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core processor desktop BX80571E5700http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819116381

If it's the motherboard (I hope not), it can be replaced without having to re - install windows? I can't find an exact replacement for the H - I41 - Μatx Foxconn (Eton). HP has one of these in stock that could be shipped out?

I know that the computer is already out of warranty (barely) and can do the work myself, but need help to determine the problem I want to throw the money to do this work right.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    John

Hello jkalbin, I think a bad mother rather than the processor card. Chess with the processors don't happen often at all. You should never feed a computer with radiator/fan all not attached to the processor. Just 5 seconds without the radiator/fan could easily burn a processor.

The fact that the processor had no hot does not mean it does not work, if the motherboard does not send power to the processor.

Motherboard failures are many times more often than the failures of processor. I had one processor to fail in more than 25 years of working with computers.

    Just some thoughts.

  • "Pavilion dv6000 won't start after inserting the password

I have a dv6000 Pavilion laptop with Windows 7 Operting System.  After a few recent updates at the beginning of my use of the computer (instead of at the end of my computer use), when I turn on the laptop, it brings up my user name and a password field, which, once I insert the password, it should redirect me to the window of the Application.  But after having inserted the password, the word "Welcome" with a circle of rotation appears on the display screen. This ' circle' rotates to progress to subject one minute and then display will Dim and never produced the home screen of the Application.  I greeted the dark screen to stay on the computer for more than 5 minutes and the House request never appears.  The only way to shut down Windows is to press Ctrl-Alt-Del, which produces a window with the following options: 1) lock this computer 2). Change user 3.)  Close the session 4) Change a password 5). Start the Manager of tasks with a button CANCEL in the center of the display and of the farm to the bottom of the icon in the lower right with the following options: 1) 2 restart.) (Sleep 3). Hibernate 4). Stop.   I used the option of doen stop to turn off the laptop.  What can I do to solve my problem and use the computer that I use for?

    Hello

    You are welcome

I suggest you download AdwCleaner this link to delete the associated files - Save in your downloads folder.

    https://toolslib.NET/downloads/finish/1/

A once downloaded, close all programs, open your download folder and double-click the application to run it (click Yes to any uac prompt).

    Click the scan button.

When the results are displayed, click the Clean button - when you are prompted to restart, click Ok.

  • Pavilion dv6 won't start - black screen

    Hello

It is always interesting to try first following a Hard Reset.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Plug the power adapter (leave the battery for now) and see if the laptop boots.

If the above doesn't help, can you post back with the complete model number and your notebook dv6 series Nr - see here for a guide to the location of such information.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion t390nl: HP Pavilion t390nl won't start

Off the computer this morning (after being on standby for a few days), I tried to reboot a few hours later. Computer unbootable, no respons at all? Nothing has changed since this morning. Nevertheless, I checked all the cables, etc., but nothing seems to be wrong.

Someone has a possible explanation for this or is this the end of my computer (purchased in 2003)?

    Thanks for your response

    WimPee

    Wimpee, welcome to the forum.

I think it could be a failure of the power supply unit (PSU).  Here's a guide to help you troubleshoot it.  If it is a defective power supply, you should be able to replace it with a standard ATX.  I suggest to measure the PSU existing and comparing measures to whichever you choose to replace it.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

  • hpdv6000 won't start - error updates configuration? !!

My HP Pavilion dv6000 won't start.

When I turn on my laptop it goes through the normal stages of start-up, however it comes up with "configuration updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.". Do not turn off your computer.

It remains on this page for a few minutes with the hourglass of thing going, but nothing happens - it stays on 0%

The computer then turns off and turns back on again and repeat the process of a second later.

    I can't clear the checkpoint!

This morning, I thought that it would be alright because instead of going to the screen updates it came with the users screen. I clicked on my profile, entered my password, but then it froze. ??!!??

So I have held down the power button, it has left a few minutes and turned back on but not luck.

    Continuing along in circles.

    Help... :/

    Hello

    Try the following.

If you do not, use another PC to create a rescue CD Windows 7.  Download the ISO relevant among the links below - if you are unsure, your laptop is listed as coming from a 64-bit installation...

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Windows 7 64 bit

You must use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn options) to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

When creating, type following the ESC key as soon as you start the launch of the laptop Boot Menu, and then insert the rescue CD.  Select the Boot Menu options ( f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.  You can also get a prompt to "Press any key to" continuous - it if requested.

Select the "Repair your computer" option and follow Option 2 in the guide on the link below to run the Startup Repair - you may need to run this 2 or 3 times.

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html

If the above does not help, take note of any error message you get during the procedure and include them with your next post.

Problem solved! A loose chip (graphics card) has been the cause of all the problems. My laptop works as fine as ever. It was also the problem of previous versions of the laptop dv6/7. So, you just need to check if the graphics chip is loose. If so, welding, it will allow to solve! Good luck!!
