Pavilion M7640N + 2 TB HDD

Hello

I have a HP Pavilion M7640n (running Win7 32 bit) and a 2 TB Seagate drive in a motor housing (Mediasonic USB) I want to use with the PC as a HARD drive external for backup purposes. My problem is that the drive is not displayed when connected. The PC knows there is something out there and the device appears in the list of USB devices but the drive itself does not show up anywhere.

Am I missing a jumper switch or a BIOS update? I have a 500 GB HARD drive in a disk enclosure in double (same as before Mediasonic), with whom I have had no problem.

Thank you for your help and best regards.

OK, lets check in disk management.  Your boot drive will display a Disk0.  Stay out of the way than.

The added disk should appear as Disk1.

Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, then:

  • Click here to open the computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • In the left pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

  • Click on a region not allocated on your "new" hard disk and then click New Simple Volume.

  • In the new Volume Simple Wizard, click Next.

  • Type the size of the volume you want to create in megabytes (MB) or accept the maximum size by default, and then click Next.

  • Accept the default drive letter or choose a different drive letter to identify the partition, and then click Next.

  • In the Formater Partition dialog box, do one of the following:

    • If you don't want to format the volume right now, click on do not format this volume and then click Next.

    • To format the volume with the default settings, click Next.

  • Review your choices and then click Finish.

  • Pavilion dv7 2282eo failure HDD?

I have a year old pavilion dv7 2282eo, which worked great for me all the time I have opposing it, but now he has broken a few difficulties.

Yesterday I went shopping and when I got home all I could see on the screen of comp. was a bluish sort of background and a ugly crusor. I rebooted and got an error message saying that windows had a problem requiring a fixation. He finsihed the start and I got the same blue screen and crusor, but without icons or buttons whatsoever.

Then, I ran a quick test of the hard drive in the BIOS and received the error message "quick (303). Does anyone know what this means? I can solve this problem? Or do I have to get a new hard drive?

Please answer me, I feel a little desperete.

    What is graphic switchable?

    Plug here.

I should also mention that I tried to boot from my recovery CD as well as the recovery partition, but all that happens is that I get the same blue background. I think it's the Windows Installer screen but there is no icons or anything.

    Thanks for the reply!

Switchable graphics is a portable dual graphics solution.  A low-power integrated graphics chip is used on battery. A superior graphical power module is used when connected to the power adapter.

Did you do a test of memory via the BIOS?

The error (303) fast is a prediction of disk failure hard iminent. Which can be solved by replacing the hard drive.

It is also why the recovery disks do not work. Once you have installed a new drive, and the operating system installed and working I can provide a link to a Sofpaq that has the reputation of being able to restore the partition recovery and F11.

  • Pavilion 15 n050sq: check Hdd DST failed

I have a problem with my laptop, runs very slowly and after performing several tests that optimized hard drive check dst failed. Is the id of the fault: RUX49G-71Q85G-MFPWWK-61SM03 and the product id is F1Y68EA #AKE. I want to know what this test means, which is the id of the failure and what should I do to solve the problem.

    Hello

The ID of the failure will be either a Smart failure or disk Self Test - the two would indicate that your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • G6-1035tx Pavilion: movies stored in hdd delays during the race

The laptop runs really bad. It takes time to perform any operation (gel does not). The film is running (behavior is rather the buffering online video streaming). Is this driver or a hardware problem. Is there a way to fix this?

My warranty is over so I would also like to know if it will cost you, how will?

Sounds like the hard drive might start to fail and must be replaced. They can usually be bought for $60 - $80 depending on the chosen power. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

Enter the BIOS by typing/holding the F10 key immediately after switching on the laptop. Use Diagnostics to test your hard drive. If you do not have diagnoses in BIOS-try to touch the Ecs key immediately after switching on the laptop. Tap F2 System Diagnostics from the menu.

Hi, I have a HP 15-ab207nv (i3-6100u, 8 GB Ram, SSD 256) and a few questions to upgrade my laptop.

    (1) is it possible to change the i5 or i7 processor?

    (2) can I add a GPU in my laptop? for example a 840 m or 960 m?

    (3) it is possible to remove the DVD drive and put a second SSD or HARD disk os?

    Hello

The processor and the video chip are soldered to the motherboard, there is no possibility of changes or updates.

2.5-inch SSD would be possible to install, but you need the adapter/caddy:

  • HP Pavilion dv7 second HDD installation problem

    Hello

I recently bought an internal WD7500BPVX 750 GB SATA HDD compatible with my HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030eV to be used as a second hard drive, since I already have a 250 GB HARD drive on the laptop. I also bought a SATA cable which I think is compatible and a caddy for the disc. When I connected the SATA cable and pressed the Start button the laptop powered upwards for about a second and then stop.  I disconnected the SATA cable and left only 250GB driver connected. When I turned on again your laptop booted normally. Once I tried to connect the new HARD drive again the same thing happened. Any ideas what might be happening? I checked two times for parts compatibility before you buy, but I can't rule out it as a cause.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Hello

This series does not start with two different hard disks. If you want a second hard drive, you need the same 250 GB drive as the original to make it work.

  • Pavilion dv6-1255-EA: upgrading ram and HDD to ssd

Hello, my laptop (pavilion dv6 1255-EA portable entertainment I bought 6 years with core 2 due processor, 4 GB ram, 500 GB HDD and AMD catalyst HD 1 GB graphics card) is running a bit slow so I however get a new ssd and / or more than ram would make it faster, I currently have 4 GB of ram and 500 GB hard drive installed in my laptop and I was woundering what are those that I can? Are crucial bullsticks 8 GB of ram and 7 with 9 in ssd adapter compatible? I need an answer as soon as possible because I saw some discounts on these on amazon so that I won't have to wait for black Friday to get them again. And it would also be good if someone also indicates what screwdriver I use.

    Hey @Ajijawi,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I came across your post on the HP Pavilion dv6 - 1255ee Entertainment Notebook and eager to replace the hard drive of 9.5 mm or increase the RAM. Even if it could adapt to the Notebook ok. Queues screws could be different. Here is a link to your service manual page 69 for the hard card. I would really check this before buying new HARD drive. You may need to change so it does not move. The 500 GB SATA 6 GB/s SSD internal SSD 2.5 "would work for this model of laptop including that you have an AMD System.

This laptop supports up to 8 GB memory system DDR2, 800 MHz, PC2-6400, page 1-DIMM 32 of the manual above.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.
