I need to know what to do in response to: "short hard drive DST-Failed", failure ID: 60E3KV - 0007Q 9 - WPTXOK - 60QD03 on a desktop pavilion p6-2330.

When the computer is turned on, it presents a loop; try to solve the problem, but unable to do so.

The memory test is 'spent '.

SMART hard disk check is 'passed '.

This 24 character of error codes when generated from the HARD drive test indicates a Smart failure or disk Self Test - in both cases, this means that the drive is defective and must be replaced.

You always have access to the data stored on the disk? If you do, then save as much information as possible and look for a replacement drive.     Yes, the hard drive is so dead, that he not yet register as a hard drive. The dv6-1000 series certainly uses SATA, not ATA drives so I'm not sure of what you see. You can replace it with any drive SATA 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick.

    First chech that the BIOS is configured to use the CD/DVD drive as frist boot device.

    Then remove the old drive and only connect the new drive.

    Start the PC and insert the CD that you created and boot from the CD.  If there is a "Long full" test, which is that you need to perform. Also check the SMART data (look for bad sectors).

    Hi - the hard drive on my Pavilion 4070 - crashed us, so I bought a replacement - a Samsung SSD 850 EVO, 256GB drive.  The problem is that I can't seem to get the recovery disks to work, and neither Microsoft nor HP is willing to help me.  Of course, Microsoft tells me they don't give me any help for Windows7 OEM versions and HP said that my product is no longer supported so they do not help me.  This is ridiculous - I own a legal copy of Windows 7 and I can't get any help from the company who sold me the computer?

    You can use SSD as boot disk make sure just the OS partition is smaller than the ssd.

    Follow the steps to solve the problem:

    a. click Start, click run, type regedit and then click OK.

    b. look for, and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

    c. click Edit, point to newand then click DWORD value.

    d. Type IRPStackSize, and then press ENTER to name the value.

    Note Type IRPStackSize exactly as it is displayed. The value name is case-sensitive.

    e. click Editand then click Edit.

    f. in the value data box, type the appropriate value for the network, and then click OK.

    If the problem persists after you complete this procedure, increase the value of IRPStackSize even more.
