Pavilion P6235uk: can I install second hard drive on PC?

Hello. I was wondering if I can install a second hard drive on my PC.

The present Sata hard drive has a capacity of 640 GB.

If there is a port to spare for a second hard drive, is there a maximum useful?

And everything would make SATA 3.5 '' hard disk fit? I would be grateful for any advice.

Thank you

laurencewithau

I found This MANUAL that shows not only a place to another hard drive, but also shows how to install it.  Begins on page 18

You can't find the answer very easily.

Remove the second HDD Bay cover and check if there are a few HARD drive connectors/pins.

If Yes, then you could install a second HDD.
If not, you can not use second HARD drive.

Not in the way you think. There is only a single hard drive 2.5 inch Bay, unlike the similarly named 17 t envy which has two slots for drives.

I came with a couple of brackets that I can mount on each side of the installed hard drive. Then hang the second disc of their share. I think that it works well and enough space for cooling. Thank you for your response.

  • Can I install 2 hard drives in my HP Pavilion p6650z?

We need to get a new hard drive, and I want to migrate EVERYTHING on the hard drive of origin to the new - not only files, but the OS and channels.

My question: can I just install a second hard drive (internal) in the case of my p6650z?

This would make everything more easy - I could then everything on the old hard drive, migrate to the new.

I could then remove the old hdd or maintain...

    HP LaserJet p1102w

HERE , it is the user and the maintenance for this guide.  The hard drive section begins on page 17.  It seems that there is space for two hard drives in the drive cage.  There are four SATA ports on the motherboard, which looks good to go, too.

If you expect to "hover over to the new drive" - I use a cloning software and just do the new hard drive boot disk.  Once you are satisfied of this and everything looks good to you, reformat the old drive for usage data.  In my humble OPINION, clone the old drive to the new hard drive using either the function of the cloning is available from the website of the manufacturer of the hard drive or use Acronis, then unplug the old one to make sure you have what you think is starting on the new hard drive to check the new disc is good and has everything you want.  Can do everything with the old drive for data.

  • How can I add second hard drive to a Pavilion a6838f? cc = us

I have an a6838f of Pavilion with a 500 GB SATA hard drive.  I also have an a6838f where the motherboard was fried by a nearby lightning strike.  Can someone tell me how to transplant the hard disk of the machine of death in the other as a second hdd.  I can find only one wire with two SATA power connectors that are currently in use (CD drive and HARD drive).  Thank you.

    richiej,

That PSU (5188-2625) shown here http://www.power-on.com/ea350u.html is supposed to have 4 Sata power leads, 2 on each leg of cable. See the PDF file, PF - PI http://www.power-on.com/images/mechanical/ea350u.pdf

If search you and trace the tracks, you might find these other Sata power cards.

BTW, Frank meant molex to Sata.

Is it possible to have an installed HARD drive? I really wanted a laptop SSD and HDD but after taxes and a full warranty of 2 years, $1 100 is my limit. I wonder if down the line, I can install a HARD drive.

HP has provided a Service Manual:

    Manual

It is a modern, skinny high-tech machine and is intended for the installation of a hard disk of 2.5 inches wide laptop or SSD inside the chassis. Storage options only are modules of WSSD m2.

  • Satellite P300D install second hard drive location

I own a P300D, it has 1 location where sits the preinstalled hard drive and an another just like it the other side. but the plastic cover of the second slot has a bunch of plastic columns that block the slot if the plastic cover is used to close the slot.

How we're supposed to fit a second hdd in there?
Am I expected to by an another plastic cover?

where can I get the metal frame to keep the hard drive correctly?

    Thank you!

    Hello

First of all, not all Satellite P300 models can be upgraded with a second HDD.
Even if the second HARD drive Bay is available, you will not be able to insert a second HDD if the HDD connectors are missing.

  • Pavilion 6000: No power to second hard drive cable

Hard disk in the PC crashes mechanically.  You want to ghost a second hard drive before the first drive crashes completely.   Bought double the existing hard drive, but there is no connector power cable for this.  Plug SATA, but cannot turn on the second hard drive.  What should I do?

    LB1815, welcome to the forum.

If I understand your problem, this is the Connector that you need.  It converts a single SATA power cable with two connectors.  This allows you to connect two drives with the cable.  There are many other brands available on Newegg.  It is an example.

  • HP Pavilion p6-2302ea - adding a second hard drive is internal.

    Product no.: C3T77EA #ABU:

How can I add a second internal hard drive to the chassis. There seems to be a single hard disk. I have to buy an internal drive caddy?

If you were you, I would consider adding an SSD for a boot drive. Really, you won't need a caddy for one SSD because you can use strips to hold it in place.

Alternatively, you can consider removing the DVD drive and buy a cart to put the new drive (spinner old HDD) sink to replace.

  • Installing second hard drive in hp envy 17

    Hello

I would like to add a secondary hard drive to my HP ENVY 17 1050ef.

I know that I need a caddy and cable connector - I'm looking at this one:

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=481

Please can anyone advise where I can buy the hard drive itself.  I think I need a 9.5 mm/2.5 inch drive but must be SATA and where I can buy this from.    I won't need too big a disk.  My main drive is 446 GB so I should probably something similar or slightly larger.

Any help where I can buy this and what to buy would be appreciated.  I am based in the United Kingdom.

    Thanking you

    Hi Dean,

Once again, thank you for the information.  It is very useful for me and allow me to move forward with confidence.  For that, I thank you.

My windows version is Windows 7 Home premium, 64-bit (service pack 1).

I have already backed up my drive to a USB port, I think that also asked me if I wanted to save on DVD.  If I could do it again that way and the DVD would be the most recent.

(if I remember correctly, that I don't have enough DVD back upward so I used a new usb that had never been used)

You mention a windows boot disk, that's essentially what I already saved and downloaded on the USB with my system files and full backup when I created the system repair disc?

If so the main hard drive breaks down, the system will ask to connect USB or DVD when I turn on my laptop with only the secondary hard drive installed and then I will be in place and works?

I found this link which can help me, but suggestions and links on your part would be appreciated.

    Thank you once more.

  • HDD problem IBM Thinkpad T42. I can't install NEW Hard Drive and NEW OEM Windows XP?

    Hi all

When I turn on the notebook Windows XP starts up and everything is loaded. But after 5 or 10 minutes, the response is very slow. If I click on any window and try to open any folder, or open internet explore it takes about 1 or 2 minutes to respond. I tried several ways to scan disk and Defrag, but still that are of no use. I also tried 'Difficulty automatically File System Errors' and ' will search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors ", but this problem is still there. Even when I stop it takes too long to stop about 15 to 20 minutes.

When I turn on again NEXT DAY Windows XP starts and everything loads quickly. After 5 or 10 minutes, the response is very slow. This problem occurs for a few days.

I then used "IBM Rescue and Restore" to load fresh operating system. Still the problem does not get fixed.

Can you get it someone please let me know if this is problem of hard disk or something else. I'm guessing it's related to the hard drive.

If it is the drive hard problem how to save (clone) of this old hard drive AGAIN DISK (after buying) HARD.

If I buy the NEW HARD DRIVE and CD/DVD of NEW OPERATING SYSTEM OEM VERSION it will work? Do existing mother board ALLOW to load a NEW VERSION of OS OEM?

    Thank you

Contact the manufacturer of your computer, IBM and ask them to send a recovery disk/s XP set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Buy a new hard drive > Reinstall.

  • Can I install SSD hard drive in the version of Windows XP Media Center 2002.

    Original title: ssd hard drives

I have a Sony desktop running Windows XP Media Center version 2002. I am thinging about buying an SSD hard drive. I was wondering if it will work

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for the question to Microsoft Community. I'll give my best to help you.

From your problem description, I understand you want to find out if the SSD is supported in the version of Windows XP Media Center 2002.

What is the model number of the computer?

Windows Media center supports the SSDS. However, when buying, check with the manufacturer if the hard drive is compatible with Windows Media Center operating system in 2002.

  • Moving pictures & catalog newly installed second hard drive

    Hello!

I just checked file John (http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Move_your_photos_1) on moving files. My friend, a non-technical guy right, had a second drive installed on his computer. So far there has been a single physical disk with logical drives C: and D:. All of his pictures are sitting on the D: drive and there is nothing else on this drive.

I am sustains it remotely in Vancouver, British Colombia, Austria (with logmein.com).

The new drive, 500 GB, is formatted and the installation chap he gave her the letter j:

    My questions:

    (1) I change the drive letter to say X:, change the letter of the new drive and then create a disc copy of X: to D: will this work?

    (2) have the my friend to do a normal backup on his external USB drive and then do a restore with 'Restore to the location of the original file' to the new drive J: and it now uses the J: drive. Check the preferences are set correctly.

    (3) just move with the Organizer all the files to the new drive J:, leaving the catalog on the D: drive.

    (4) other good ideas? My friend has about 9 000 images on file, probably quite a few disconnected ones.

Thank you and have a nice day!

    Alexander

(Waiting for October 9 and PSE 8 as advertised on Amazon. John you soon will certainly be another long list of items to add to your index! GIROU!)

    Alexander,

Using view > display folder location to move the photo folders is the easiest way to move photos to a new disk, as described in the FAQ you referenced:

    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-FAQ.htm#_Move_your_photos

The question remains what to do with the catalog file:

1 - is on the C drive (where he usually resides) or D drive?

2 if it is on the C drive, there is no harm to leave it there - it uses relatively little space.

    3. If it is on the D drive, and that your friend is not afraid to leave it there, then leave it there.

    4. If your friend really wants to move the disk D (if it can release this drive and use a tool for partitioning to merge back in C D), so he will need to move the catalog folder:

    a. If it's on the PSE 7, it can pass safely the catalog file by using the file > catalog > move.

    (b) if he is on PSE 6, and there not all projects (e.g., slide shows) or files on DVD/CD, it can pass safely the catalog file by using the file > catalog > move.

    c. otherwise, we need to use the backup/restore method (rather than the display > display folder location) for the catalog folder installs as well as photos on J drive.
