Pavilion P7-1020 install Windows7 on an SSD

I want to upgrade to a small SSD and have as my OS. The recovery of the DVD it will not do that the disk is smaller than the original HD. I still have the hard disk recovery partition, but it doesn't seem to be a choice of where I want to install the OS. I already have an oops! and had to re-install Windows7 on the original HD.   I now have the recovery partition copied for the SSD with the plan to make drive C and maybe get it installed, but I can't find a way to get the boot sector that I need for the SSD. I can see the boot sector (I think) in Windows Diskmanager but he does not see my software to copy partitions.

Hello:

If you can read the product key on the sticker COST W7 on your PC, you can do your own installation of W7 media that works on any hard drive size that meets the requirements of the space of W7.

Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • 15-ab236nl Pavilion: Pavilion 15-ab236nl install an SSD

    Hello

I am interested in buying this laptop

    Pavilion 15-ab236nl

AFAIK, there is no option for a second HARD drive, so if I change the default HARD drive with an SSD in my choice would that work? (which means I'm able to reinstall Win10 etc..)

or rather, if I had to buy a HARD drive for this model caddy, swap it with the DVD drive and install it with a SSD would that work? Do I need any special ribbon cable?

There is no information about this exploit, so if anyone has any opinions or knowledge that would be great.

I'm just asking if it is possible, not how, that would come later.

Here are the applicable maintenance manual:

    Manual

The first thing I want to emphasize is that this type of change, which probably will void the warranty. That said, it is possible to install an SSD, and according to the configuration you order, you can add a second hard drive in the slot of the WSSD m2 or the SATA connector, if she's not busy factory.

You generally don't want to use the optical Bay for one SSD because the interface is slower than the main SATA bus and a player any connected as it will not be bootable, so you end up just with very expensive and paralyzed storage speed if you put an SSD in there. The best thing to do is to get out the mechanical hard drive spinner, put it in the optical Bay for storage and install an SSD. The m2 slot gave people fits, so I recommend you just work with SSD SATA 2.5 inch and not a m2.

The problem is I have a Hauppauge winTV TV tuner card is installed and cela mucks the other pilots on this installation. Everything went well after I got rid of the TV card. It seems that hauppage isn't a suitable driver for their card and windows 7 install their WDM driver for him and it does not. • How can I enable AHCI in dv7 6199us? And install windows on a SSD?

    Hello!

    I got help.

How can I enable AHCI in dv7 6199us? And install windows on a SSD?

Intel based computers, like yours, are usually set to "RAID", which is a superset of "AHCI". Basically, if the BIOS won't let you choose between "IDE mode", "AHCI" and "RAID", leaving in the RAID led to you everything done "AHCI". In this case there is no need to activate the AHCI, as RAID will support an SSD anyway.

  • Can I install windows7 64 bit on hp pavalion 2000 2116tu. is it a 64 bit system?

    Hello

I would like to know if it is possible to install Windows7 64 - bit os in HP Pavalion 2000 2116tu. Is also the system's 64-bit architecture.

    Thanks in advance

    Anish

    Hi, Anish:

Depending on the product specifications on the link below, you can install a 64-bit operating system, but I would recommend that you upgrade the memory of at least 4 GB before installing a 64-bit operating system.

    http://support.HP.com/US-en/document/c03354595=

Your product indicates that you can install up to 8 GB of memory.

I even think that the laptop can handle 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Run the Analyzer memory crucial free to confirm how much memory you can upgrade to.

  • Dull office after installing windows7 ultimate

    Dear friends

My laptop has become slow and annoying with VISTA, I installed windows7 ultimate x 64 bit if vista x 32 bit. All devices work but my desktop and icons are dull. Please what do I do?

    Kenneth

    The devices work...

Does this mean that you went to the web support page of the manufacturer of the laptop computer for your laptop model (which is, by the way?  The brand and model that is...?) and I saw that they support Windows 7 and then you have downloaded and installed drivers for Windows 7 x 64 motherboard chipset, video for Windows 7 x 64 drivers, device drivers of network for Windowns 7 x 64, Windows 7 x 64 audio device drivers and the rest (bluetooth, etc) drivers for Windows 7 x 64?

Or have you visited web pages of the individual manufacturer (perhaps an Intel motherboard chipset;) Intel, nVidia or ATI/AMD video device; Maybe Realtek audio device; Maybe Intel, Broadcom and Realtek network device, etc.) and downloaded the latest drivers for hardware device in this way.

Or - it means that everything seemed to work as soon as you install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition - you left (I would say doing one of two things earlier if the last one is true)?

  • Why I can't install Windows7 on a computer that does not have a 64-bit processor?

I tried to install Windows7 on an old desktop computer, but got an error message that says that a 64-bit processor is required.  So, if I can't install Windows7, what version of Windows I can use?

    Maurice

    HI Maurice Osborn.

Old desktop computer consists of 32-bit processor called x 86 only. So you need support for Windows 7 x 86 to install on your PC. I hope that you have Windows 7 X 64 Media, it is not compatible with your PC. That's why you have this error.

There are two types of media available X 86 and X 64...

To use windows 7 x 86 Media for your PC

Please check your PC meets the said requirements below...

    Windows 7 minimum configuration:

    Processor: Pentium 3, 665 MHz, Celeron, Pentium 4 1 GHz / Core 2 Duo 2 GHz

    RAM:
512 MB (that's a lot still needs to get the installer running)

    1 GB, maybe 1.5 GB

    2 GB or more

    Graphics card:

Embedded graphics, 8 MB memory card

Integrated graphics, 64 MB of memory,
at least drivers WDDM 1.0 (Vista), DirectX 9 capable.

Map dedicated graphics, 128 or 256 MB of memory.
WDDM 1.1 drivers (Windows 7), DirectX 9 and 10 capable.

    Hard drive:

    HARD DRIVE IDE, 10 GB
Please post what size of hard drive, you got win7 working on!

IDE or SATA HDD, 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) free

    Thank you..

I've been strugling for awhile now!

I am completely new to this so if you can keep it nice and simple, would be great!

    Thanks for your help :)

Have your program files on the HARD drive defeated the purpose of having an SSD in the first place. The goal is to start the operating system and load your programs faster.

Then, install the operating system and programs on the SSD and store your personal files (Documents, music, photos, videos etc.) on the HARD disk.

Demarrer start from the Windows 7 DVD, and then select the SSD drive during installation

For information about how to modify your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, see the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

Click Custom install Windows only (Advanced)

Select the SSD drive, and then click Next.

Once Windows 7 is installed, you can redirect personal folders on the HARD drive to store your files.
