  The driver is big enough, I would say save to disk, and then run the installation program.  You could do a right click on the link here, select "Save as", then download the file.  Depending on your internet speed, it make take some time downloading.  If it doesn't for you please specify exactly what is happening when you try to download the file, and any error messages see you.

  I found and fixed the problem, although I don't know how it happened.  Missing driver for PCI simple communication controller.  I found the driver on the web and installed.  Then I uninstalled all HP software and printer and reinstalled everything.

  Its usually best to ask the manufacturer of the device for its pilots in the first instance.

  Did you install the software for your printer, or just plug in?

  You can actually have more luck with the USB 2.

  I think your laptop would have at least a USB 2 port. Glance to one that is not blue...

  Computer in general, any piece of hardware needs software to operate. Printer is the same, without software, it's a piece of plastic, metal... set up. For printer, depending on the complexity, it is, BUT there are essentially 3 software components

  (a) firmware: firmware or hardware.

  (b) drivers: go between the operating system and firmware, Operating ssystem commands to convert to something firmware can understand and tell the printer to do the job.

  (c) other software: to make life easier such as HP Assistant printer, HP solution... Center and/or for many printers MFP or AIO new OCR software.

  Recently, I had to feel my 5530 all-in-One printer replaced while it was still under warranty. The replacement came with new driver software and everything, but since it is the same model that I decided not to install it and use the existing driver installed on computers instead. (Replacement not be come with directions for uninstall, said by the way.)

  The new printer is connected to the wireless network (using touch screen) and is recognized by computers on the network, but I can't get anything to print, since the existing driver HP software does not seem to 'find' the printer. Do I still need to uninstall the driver and reinstall? And what about the other programs installed with HP printer?

  The computers are all Windows 7 64 bit.  I'm not very technical, so it makes me a little nervous.
