Pavilion Slimline s3407c upgrade to Windows 7?

I got this computer since 2007 and it works. Periodically, internal processes overwhelm the system and I can't work. I had to do the factory reset twice in seven years and was about to go to #3 this week, when the system itself fixed just with no help from my friends.

-Is a common problem with Vista?

-Would be upgraded to Windows 7 help or I open myself in a world of new problems?

-J' followed support advise to disable "Load Startup items" on the config. Is it a long-term solution or that serve only as a troubleshooting tool?

Thanks in advance!

Your computer came with Windows Vista 32 - bit, it is actually able to run a 32-bit OS or 64-bit. As your computer comes with 2 GB of RAM, I recommend you stay with a 32-bit operating system. If you need to upgrade to 4 GB of RAM, I suggest using Windows 7 64 bit instead.

  • HP Pavilion 15-p264na: upgrade of Windows 10 - recovery disk

I just bought this laptop with win 8.1 on. I want to upgrade to windows 10 and produce a recovery disk using the installation of HP, which cannot be done at once. The question is what to do first. I'm afraid that if I do first the disc, then I assume will only recover Windows 8.1, which means another upgrade to win 10, which then can no longer be available as a free update. If I do the first update, should I still the ability to produce a recovery disk? and if he will he recover to win 10?

    Hello:

You must make the recovery W8.1 media now before moving on to W10.

It will only take up to W8.1, and no matter what you do, it will only retrieve W8.1 by using the HP tool to make the drive.

Upgrading to W10 has no effect on the change of the W8.1 recovery partition.  Only, it installs W10 on the C:\ drive and makes no other changes.

Here's how I see the second part of your concern (what concerns me too).

Like you said after next July, W10 is not free, what happens if you need to restore W10 or you get a new hard drive and you have to install everything.

First of all, after you upgrade to W10, in the tool settings > activation, you can check that W10 is enabled.

I'd say you need to reinstall W8.1 and then upgrade to W10 and when you go to turn it on going because he already know that W10 has been installed on the PC before.  Microsoft maintains a database of activation which should allow the PC to have W10 still for free.

You can make a W10 installation/repair ISO disk usb flash drive, or from the link below.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows10

Another thing I did was to create a system image of the installation of the W10 and recorded on a portable hard drive.

I did use the tool to create system image (windows 7) in the W10 system control panel option.

My plan would be to try first before anything else.  You can use the installation/repair W10 disc that you create to access the system image that you create, and I hope that will save a lot of time and effort.

You can update the image of the system as many times as you want, and it will overwrite the existing image on the laptop hard drive.

But until next July comes and goes, we can only speculate what will be the result of having to reinstall the W10.

  • Pavilion DM1: Problems upgrading to Windows 10 on HP Pavilion DM1 Notebook

The portable computer is currently running Windows 7 Professional, and I ran the upgrade of Windows 10.  It goes through the first installation and re - start and then on the second phase, when it is installing the drivers, it gets to 71% and restarts with a blue screen, I think that showing as TENT RUN OF No. EXECUTE MEMORY, but it is not very long, so I do not know and rolls to Windows 7.  I tried to disconnect external devices, try a clean boot, tried to update all the drivers, disable wifi and leaving on a single connection to the local network without success.  I managed to last updated desktop for Windows 10 with only a little difficulty even if Windows has decided the display driver is not compatible, so it is a real headache.

Thank you. No, Kaspersky has not been installed, and I never installed it. Is used by McAfee, as sometimes it comes with Acrobat Reader? I installed once in an update and it removed immediately. Anyway, I found this file registered twice in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers and in a subfolder, it was not related to any existing process so I removed it, tried the upgrade again and he completed this time. If for any other person having this problem find the name of the file after ATTEMPTED RUN OF No. EXECUTE the MEMORY when the blue screen appears, which is very short and then delete this file. In my case it was kl1.sys. It was not however reflected in the report which appeared after system restored to Windows 7. Problem solved.

  • Pavilion DV6 - 1247CL upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 8. 1

I want to improve my Pavilion DV6 - 1247 CL Windows Vista at Windows 8. 1. I read on the site of Microsoft support that the only way to upgrade Vista to Windows 8.1 must do a clean install of DVD. Will I have problems with the HP drivers, etc... ? If so, what should I do to avoid these problems?

Yes there is no direct upgrade path from Vista to Windows 8. 1. I provide a counterpoint here. Your laptop is powerful enough to run Windows 8/8.1 and I bet all the drivers work just very rare possible exceptions that will be easy to fix. I would say what you can do to give up Vista is a good thing. You might want to consider Windows 7 as an alternative, but all that will take place in 7 runs generally 8/8.1.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s5615uk: upgrade I can add a graphics card to an HP Pavilion Slimline s5615uk-m

Can I add a graphics card? If Yes, which?

    @DavidMW You are welcome.

Please do not hessitate to ask questions.  This is the reason why I'm here.

Most of the games are today video very intensive.  This is why your computer begins to lag when the game gets busy.  A video card would be a good thing, but will be much easier to install more memory.  This is the memory that is recommended by Crucial memory.  The max memory is 4 GB, however.  You would be better served if you decide to upgrade the memory to buy 2 x 2 GB memory new and remove the old.  Another way to increase performance of the system is to add an SSD.  Take a look at the recommended by Crucial SSD.  They make great products for OEM computers.  My HP laptop game boots Omen is less than 7 seconds and increases the speed of loading games with the 256 GB SSD.

I have to be honest with you.  The Slimline models simply are not meant for the game; even

  • HP Pavilion desktop computer: upgrade to Windows 10 - Start Menu disappeared

I updated July 29 to 10 Windows using the Windows Media authoring tool.  I was very happy with the new system, everything was working fine until 2 days ago the Start Menu disappeared.  I looked for solutions, as it seems a common phenomenon and Microsoft are aware and working on a fix (this problem occurred with a previous version).  The most popular and apparently successful solution is:

Open Windows PowerShell (run as administrator) the Task Manager (as a new task) and enter:

    Get-AppxPackage | % {Add-AppxPackage - DisableDevelopmentMode-register "$($_.)} {"InstallLocation) \AppxManifest.xml"}

This has not worked for me.  After much trial and error I havefound change affected 'Standard' to 'Administrator' account and restart work.  Long term, however.  Someone at - there a better solution?

Thank you. Unfortunately, I was one of those for whom this solution did not work.  The problem turned in my case to be caused by AdAware 9.0 that was included in the upgrade.  He was using a lot of memory and seemed to be blocking updates.  He was not enrolled in a program control panel, so I was unable to uninstall it.  I tried to replace it with the latest AdAware (currently 11.0) to save the program and then can be removed but was not able to uninstall version 9.0 or (AdAware 11.0 seems to cause problems with Windows 10).  I finally managed using Revo Uninstaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/ and find the program that even this program has no seeAdAware 9.0 installed programs.  After a complete withdrawal of all remaining files and a few reboots and allowing Windows Update to automatically install updates a backlog of orders, the Start Menu is back.  Problem solved.

  • Pavilion p6267c: upgrading the video card ATI Radeon HP x 64 on hp pavilion p6267c after upgrade from Windows 10

Improved my p6267c HDMI (with factory-installed ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card) to Win 7 winning 10 and lost some display resolution.  Had to move to resolution of 1920 x 1080 (recommended setting for my HP 2509 m monitor) up to 1680 x 1050 to maximize the size of the rear screen, to what she was using Win 7.  Now the screen's size, but the text is a bit fuzzy and just not as strong as before.  I've updated the driver to the most recent available for this old 2009 ATI card: 8.970.100.9001 which is the latest ATI and Microsoft for this card running Windows 10.  I tried the support hp and google for a replacement graphics card that will work in this office with its 300 Watt power supply.  I will modernize the card and power if necessary to refine the text I get now.   I'm not a gamer, so did not need graphics high power.  I can't believe there is not an answer out there for someone who has experienced the same problem.  Although I love Windows 10, I even considered back to Win 7.

PROBLEM SOLVED!   I took your suggestion and actually found a good deal on a different graphics card to replace the ati radeon HD 4350. BestBuy.com, I found a highly rated card that users have reported similar problems of fixed resolution after the 10th Winidows upgrade.  The map was available on sale for $40.99 (Orig 59.99).  It was available in my local store for 43.99, but they it ot me for the price online.  I am now running my monitor of 2509 m hp at 1920 x 1080 resolution recommended and everything's fine.  Here is the link for the nvidia GEOFORCE 610 GT 1024 MB DDR3 (model VCGGT610XPB) card:

The provided Driver CD is not working, but the website www.pny.com gave a newer driver for Windows 10 (64-bit).

I tried several times but the error pops up whenever I try to upgrade!

Are there any solutions for me?

    Follow this:

    Windows Update troubleshooting

The first thing you need to do is to start the Windows Update troubleshooting tool to find and solve problems for you. So, follow the steps.

Search for Troubleshooting within your search box in Windows. If you are on Windows 7, go to the Start menu and search for it inside the box at the bottom of the menu. In Windows 8, follow the same procedure to open the troubleshooting windows. After the search, find Troubleshooting and click on it to open it.

On the inside of the window of the incident, navigate down, then click on system and security to proceed to the next window.

Inside the system and security window, navigate down once again, and you will see Windows Update. Right-click on it and select run as administrator.

When you are troubleshooting Windows Update tool, click the Next button to start the process. If the first attempt, he isn't the problem, try again to restart the process of troubleshooting. After that is done, it should automatically fix the problem. Close the window and go to the next step.

    Building on Windows Update:

After the success of the process of troubleshooting, open the command prompt by searching for it in the Start menu. Make sure to run as administrator too in order to operate correctly.

Inside the command prompt, type the following command and press Enter to start pushing the update of Windows 10.

    Wuauclt.exe /detectnow /updatenow

You should see Windows update to start the download of Windows 10. It will solve Windows error 80070003

After the upgrade of the Windsows 7-10 of Windows, I lost all the HP and utility programs and free software provided with my laptop such as Cyberlink, Adobe Photoshop, etc, how do I recover them?

    @grolou,

My "simplistic" solution was not so much a solution, but to verify that you had done the upgrade properly. The software you describe has been a part of your installed operating system of origin image. The process of upgrading Windows 10 according to the description will retain most of the applications, unless they are incompatible or would impede the actual upgrade process. Applications that do not give or have been removed from the process, or will no longer function will need to be reinstalled, probably with a compatible version, if it is available.
