Pavilion Touchsmart 15-n019sa: upgrade to dual band WiFi

Does anyone know if I can change my Realtek RTL8188EE (single band) bgn adapter to an adapter dual band?

If it is posible, which model is best?

Perhaps, but there is a potential problem. Your laptop is a budget model and probably has only a single antenna. Easy to check. See p. 49 here:

Repair manuals

The photo shows 2 antennas and if you have 2, fine. You can install any desired wifi card. Your laptop has no problem of white list.

The best wireless card is an Intel 7260ac

Let us know if you need more information. If you have only a single antenna, the simple upgrade cheap suddenly becomes an ordeal.

  • Pavilion Touchsmart 15-n022sa: upgrade of the HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15-n022sa wireless card

I want to upgrade the Wifi card the currently disappointing Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter to the 802.11a/b/g/n Intel 6230 Wireless N WiFi Bluetooth BT 3.0 a half size PCI-E card dual band 2.4/5.0 GHz I heard much talk about the notrorious 'white list '.

I've found a few documents: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04438537 , but none of the compatible cards listed have 5 ghz, bluetooth and ubuntu support.

    This upgrade is not possible?

    SOLUTION:

The wifi worked and both antennas were present. Bluetooth, however, did not work until I did the following:

I followed the instructions on post # #50 here https://communities.intel.com/thread/31247?start=45 & tstart = 0 which involved recording pin 51 (the right most pin with the card with ports antenea face) and it worked a treat. Apparently, it's also possible with the software in the HP connection manager, but apparently it is not supported on windows 10.

There was no driver installation necessary.

    Hello:

HP removed the BIOS of their whitelists notebooks about 18-24 months, if the Intel 6230 card should work just fine.

What may be a bigger problem than many laptops equipped with the Realtek RTL8188EE 802. 11 b/g/n WiFi adapter have only 1 antenna connected to the card, instead of the normal two.

I can't make you what models, and those who didn't and the maintenance manual will normally show photos in the withdrawal of the wireless card and the section replacing the card always have 2 antennas connected to it.

You have to be willing and able to take the laptop everything hand, including the area of display panel, install a second dish (should be required).

A dual-band card will not work with only an antenna connected to it.

  • Pavilion g6-2052er - looking for compatible dual band wireless adapter

    Hello!

I'm running g6-2052er and would like to buy a double router broadband, but discovered that my computer laptop 1y.o. does not support. First thought, that he wouldn't ' tbe a big problem to replace the wireless adapter, but it turnsout, that it should be in the white list - and I can not just to find the list of materials that I can use on my laptop. Could someone help me find a spare part for the laptop please?

    Thank you

    Hello:

You are right about the white list of BIOS locking all the cards not supported wireless.

Here is the link to the service manual for your PC.

Chapter 3, page 17 lists the cards supported wireless.  None are dual band.

Hello svenddk.  I understand that you want to replace your wireless card.

Here is a link to Guide of Service and Maintenance of your laptop.  If you take a look at page 67, he has a list of cards that should work in your notebook, including the reference numbers.  You can then order the parts of HP part Surfer.

  • Pavilion dv7-1285dx option upgrade RAM / dual channel question

Hello.  I had a few questions on my laptop dv7-1285dx I bought last January.  I explore the idea of upgrading the RAM, and I went on the site crucial and pulled these specs.

It says that my system has 8 GB of memory dual channel max capacity, but from what I read here on these forums double channel really only works when you have 2 identical modules in each slot, right?  Well, my system came at HP with 1 x 4 GB and 1 x 2 GB installed modules standard package.  (I'm running Vista x 64).

So, if this is the case, this does mean that I'm not running in double track right now and my computer is a drop in performance right out of the factory?

Another question I have is my stick of memory from Samsung.  Would I be hurt me if I bought just a stick of 4 GB of crucial and kept the other stick of 4 GB of Samsung and used these two together?  Or is it better to use two Samsung or two Crucial sticks identical?  The sticks have to come from the same kit for best performance?   (IE - in the case of the Samsung, I would of course order a single module if I went this route and kept the original I have now).

If I increase the RAM, is there anything else I need to do in the BIOS to enable function dual channel (if I don't have it right now) other that physically install the sticks?

    Thank you very much.

Molvitz has clarified a bit. For memory dual channel sticks must first be the same size (2 x 2 GB or 2 x 4 GB for example) and they must be the same speed and latency times. If you shuffle the cards to Flash the same size you will probably but not certainly have dual channel operation. If you put two identical poles, you are also sure that it is possible to be that they will work in dual channel mode. I have not tried to set up a laptop with 2 x 4 gig of RAM sticks and I believe that there could be problems with channel double use, as mentioned, because this product (4 gig laptop RAM sticks) is so new. I can speak from experience wide enough that what I say above applies to 2 x 1 gig and 2 x 2 GB.

    Hi guys,.

get a double band of new router netgear N900 and it supports multi-5 2.4 ghz wifi,

My question is how do I set up my qosmio to 5 GHz?

    Thanks for any answers

    Hello

I think that the laptop supports Atheros 802.11(b/g/n) WB195-HMC WLan card.
Standard WLan 802.11 B and G is 2.4 GHZ. The standard 802.11 N standard would be operates also in 2.4 Ghz 802.11 A is not supported.

If I plug a double band on the USB wifi adapter on my tablet, will it work? I am interested if allowed to detect a signal of 5 GHz

The adapter has a pilot Android? And you can install it without root access?

If the answer to a is no, while you watch a fair bit of work.

How necessary is it? 2.4 GHz "n" channels can be congested, but still can't even transfer speeds.

  • HP Pavilion Touchsmart 11 ED09AU - unable to connect to wifi

Hello! I had problems with this laptop. I bought last month. After using it for a week, I noticed that it is not automatically connect to wifi, and sometimes it takes a little longer (probably an hour) so that it connects successfully to a wifi. And if ever he should be connected, internet access said "limited." I brought to a service center, they changed the wifi card, and then I guess that after using it for more than a week, the same problem occurred. This is a big drawback for me I hope that someone can help me, and I just want to know if anyone had experienced the same problem. Thank you very much!

    Hello Jabb050914,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are having problems with wireless connectivity. Can you please tell me the name of your new wireless card? You should be able to find this in the device under network adapters Manager. Also, can you me if other devices are wireless, or if this PC works with a wired connection to the router or modem?

Here are a few things to try in waiting for your response:

    Powercycle the network:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator at the bottom of your screen.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
    1. go to your start screen and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator at the bottom of your screen.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problem.

    Hope this helps!
