  I have a hp envy j011dx supplied with Windows 8 Home(64bit). I put an SSD in, upgraded the ram and put Windows 7 Pro 5 [64-bit. Everything works fine but the keys do not work. the left ctrl key, I get, [9 - and CTRL right, I get, l;]

  I have searched and tried a few different drivers looked at messages on the demotion to 7 and have not seen anything on this issue. I ran all the updates of windows and tried several different drivers. I put the old HD with W8, and it works if it is not a hardware problem. I looked at the origin of this post before doing the downgrade and it gave me the confidence to move forward with implementing Win7 on. I have until Friday to take this back to the store if I can't make it work. Any help would be appreciated.

  I discovered what it was! Hallelujah! Good so I uninstalled and reinstalled Win7 Pro like 8 times. The driver IDT High - Definition (HD) is that he was causing.

  Finally, I noticed that when I hit the left CTRL mute volume was turn. Then when I hit the button Mute ctrl will work correctly. Mute on this subject would not work. Mute off it would work. I unsintalld the driver and re-installed several times to ensure that it is definitley the origin of the problem. Keys mute and volume were workign regardless if the driver has been installed. I like really a few Windows 7. Not looking navigation on Windows 8 and 8.1 at all!

  I just bought an Acer Aspire F5-573-52MU computer laptop and a week after the purchase (September 2016) my Fn Hotkey no longer works when I try to increase or decrease the brightness (Fn + left or right), but it still works when I adjust the Volume (Fn + up or down).

  I also did a full factory reset (as suggested by the ACER Support), but nothing helps?

  Needless to say, the screen is very bright and with no control over brightness led to a faster discharge of the battery. If someone had a similar problem on this model, any suggestions to remedy this would be welcome?

  Replaced the monitor driver manually in the Device Manager by selecting the generic PnP monitor version. PROBLEM SOLVED, Yah!  Although I think that this problem may happen again on the next update (I hope not)!

  Hey I found the solution for my problem. On my laptop brightness controls do not work because I installed logmein (remote desktop) application that also installs some graphics drivers if you want that the features of the rotation of the screen on my laptop when I access my laptop to remote location. It seems that this driver causing the problem, when I completely uninstalled the app logmein brightness keys still work. For you all similar applications like this can be the cause of the problem. To solve this, go to the device (device type in the start menu Manager) see Manager is related to the applications that you have installed all the drivers are there under the display adapters in the Device Manager window, in the affirmative, uninstall applications completely it may solve your problem too.
