Can anyone offer any assistance?  Update the chipset using the downloaded from the section "Software and Drivers" http://support.hp.com site seems not had any effect (although I don't quite know I use it correctly).

  • Hypervisor-HyperTerminal: how to write texts in HyperTerminal to a VI in real-time

I use on my PXI system hypervisor. With 'Specifications to build', I built my RT application in a standalone rtEXE file and set it as start VI for my RT system. It seems to work, since I have received information from my "hypervisor-HyperTerminal" while restarting the RT system.  He writes, "Startup Application: d:\ni-rt\startup\RTMain.rtexe. However, I don't see how my RT application is running or if an error occurs.  Therefore, I think to write texts or my RT application information to the HyperTerminal.

I wanted to use VISA to the serial port of the HyperTerminal on the side-access system in real time. I used the example LabVIEW "basic series write and Read.vi ' to 'smplserl.llb '.  Under the system in real time, I found only a single resource VISA name, which is "COM1".  Apparently, I can write successfully texts at the port "COM1", because no error was shown in the example VI. But the texts do not appear on the HyperTerminal.

Do you have an idea, what I did wrong in my attempt, and how I had to do it correctly? Thank you very much.

You can use the Debug String VI (http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370622J-01/lvrtvihelp/rt_debug_strings/) RT a message programmatically to the console at the time on a Real - Time Hypervisor system LabVIEW Real-time.

  • MAX indicates PXI card when it is started in Windows but not in hypervisor mode

Hello again all you lovers forum useful!

I'm having some difficulty with a hypervisor type system see two maps of programmable resistance of 6 channels of Pickering which are loaded in the PXI chassis.  When I boot in Windows mode, MAX sees them very well under My system.  When I then run the hypervisor configuration software, I see both listed and get them assigned to the operating system in real time.  However, when I then starts in hypervisor mode, MAX did not see their money remote systems-> hypervisor target--> chassis (or elsewhere) and the report of pilots do not see all the modules either when I debug my code running on the system in real time.

Someone has an idea what setting or configuration I may be incorrect?  Is there any other information I can provide that would be relevant or useful to respond to this question?  I'm not the main material guy, he just got married and therefore is not available, so I'm out of my comfort zone.  ;-)  I write software that runs on the system, however, so I'm not completely clueless.  I know we just replaced the controller in the main chassis by a faster (unfortunately, I don't have the number on the spot, the Simulator is down in the laboratory), but I also know that we use the same controller and map of Pickering on a different Simulator and it works fine.

Any ideas?  I really appreciated your time!

    -Joe

Too bad, the answer proved to be that I don't have the drivers completely installed on the system in real time.  Apparently, which caused it not to recognize the cards.  I never did understand / remember exactly how to install the drivers of Pickering on the side in real time, but fortunately I was able to simply copy all files that had 'Pickering' in their name in the folder C:\ni-rt\system of the file directory in real time from another Simulator for this one.  ;-)

    See you soon!

  • Nested error Server R2 2012 - "hypervisor does not work.

    Good afternoon

I'm having some trouble from a virtual computer inside my 2012 R2 VM server. I search around the internet for a while find several articles and forums on how to configure nested visualization including the official document on these forums but I still have a problem.

    My configuration:

    Physical server running - ESXI 5.5 1623387

Physical machine - dell R720 (2 x e5-2690 - supports the VT - X and the EPT and it is enabled in the BIOS, esxcfg confirms with '3')

New VM - Server R2 2012, VM version 9 installation (created by the web console vmx-09)

I added / tried every configuration option I found:

-J' created the virtual machine console web and checked "expose hardware virtualization assisted for the guest OS.

-I made that vhv.enable = "TRUE" in the vmx configuration

-J' tried to add hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = 'FALSE' to the vmx configuration

-J' tried to add vhv.allow and more vhv.enable in the/etc/vmware/config, but neither makes a difference (discovered he was not necessary later thanks to a post on this forum)

-J' tried to set the name of guestOS to "winhyperv" in the .vmx file

-J' tried the type parameter of "ESXi 5.x" guestOS in the thick client

-J' set the cpu/mmu virtualiztion tick at the last

-J' tried to set the registry values level 1 as seen here ecx

    -J' have ensured that monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware".

-J' uninstalled the hyper-v role and reinstalled after you make these changes without result

-J' tried an another 5.5 ESXi 1331820 host with these settings and it does not work (VT - X confirmed as well)

-J' tried 2016 instead of 2012 R2 server and it does not work

I think it's all the things I tried. I'm sure I've probably missed something very obvious, but any help would be appreciated.

This specific virtual machine has not generated a vmware.log file but still one of my virtual machines to test (with the same exact questions on the second physical host) has generated a couple and I enclose you one of them, and more can be provided if necessary.

    Thank you!

  • License problem 5.5 hypervisor

    Hello

I'm trying to set up a vmware on a remote site server. My plan was to run the 5.5 version and use a free license.

I installed version 5.5 of esxi on a disc, that I already had. But when I went to get a license, I can't get a license for version 6.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a free license for 5.5?

    Thank you

    Hi Jack,

Visit the URL according to download VMware vSphere Hypervisor for free

Sign in with your VMware account or create one.

You will then ba able to register for a free license for 5.5 key

If you are already registered for the free version, it just goes to show the license key.

    Kind regards

  • Problem with the video for "VMware vSphere Hypervisor - install and configure.

    Hello

    In this page: https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/evalcenter?lp=default & p = free-esxi5

When you click on the "Installation and configuration" tab, we have access to videos for vSphere Hypervisor.

But at the moment, none of the video can be shown.  I tried this in my computer at home as well as my company computer and none works.

Someone who works for VMware please check this problem.

    Thank you

OK, I just found what was "wrong".  These videos are "optimized" for Internet Explorer!   Yes, I tried on Firefox and Chrome on XP Pro and Win7, nothing worked.  Then after reading your message, I thought ' what happens if I try that? "  ... and indeed, the videos are displayed inside, I.e. I got suddenly a bad feeling, like I was back at the beginning of the 21st century!

Come on!  Who would still do 'optimized' only website to know today?   I'm sure they will not be displayed on my Tablet either.

I found these videos on YouTube:

I think they are the same videos (but the quality is really bad... 360 p.: geez!).  Could someone confirm that they are indeed the same as those in vmware.com?  THX

PS: Oh, on the section "Help", I found it at help | United States but I've seen no paragraph telling me how to report a problem on the website.

  • Is it wise to spend 5.1 to 5.5 hypervisor?

I'm running 5.1, but have read about 5.5.  I'm trying to understand if it makes sense to upgrade to 5.5 hypervisor.
    1. the 32 GB is fine for what I need.  For me, it's just material upgrades, system backups, fix and upgrade and adding a few follow-up virtual machines easier.    I do not only a lot of consolidation.  People who speak of laboratory environments blow smoke.  99% end up by being used for actual production servers.
2 5.5 seems to hurt people.  They cannot work the level HW 9 or 10 and still use the VMware Client.  5.1, I can work with 9 HW, and I do not know that 10 HW buys me anything.  I understand wanting to push guys like me to buy their $560 update of VMware.  But when I see things like the migration of Hyper-V isolated, I don't know if ESXi is able to command.
    3. it seems that there is less hardware support in 5.5, there is no 5.1.  Looks like they have a lot more problems of hardware and PSODs.

Anyone can come up with a good reason why I don't want to install 5.5 instead of 5.1?

    Thank you!

I was in the same situation as you and decided to not upgrade. At least not until the problem with native client and VM hw-version 10 is solved somehow. And I remember the old saying "if it works, do not touch!"...

  • How can I get a hypervisor 5.1 license? ESXi?

I downloaded the ISO file 5.1 hypervisor free. When I run the Client vShpere to see my VM on my hypervisor host I get this message:

The license of assessment expires, the ESXi host may stop to manage all of your virtual machine in its inventory. In order to manage these machines, you must obtain and assign a license to your ESXi host.

I know what is my license. In addition, hypervisor is free... so I'm not sure what's going on here. Is there a way plug-in my license is to somehow stop this pop up then perhaps down the road does not manage my VM? I have no idea why this message is yet to come because I don't want to reinstall all over again. I checked all options in the vSphere client and there is nothing that allows me to enter anything.

    Thank you

    Hello

All editions (including free) must have a valid serial number.  When you installed ESXi he was put in a day 60 eval Enterprise Plus.  You can enter your license number by clicking Setup > has a license and clicked on change.   Your registration for download you would have been given a serial number at that time here.

  • Tag or not to tag in the hypervisor

In general, an ESX host is connected to a switch configured as a trunk port. The reason, of course, is that an ESX host has a cluster of virtual machines on different VLANS and therefore the hyspervisor tags executives... and you know the rest...

In all these years that I've been configuring the switch ports that connect to the ESX host, I still have them configured as trunks.   In theory, however, the hypervisor is a NOT to label the images if, say, all virtual machines are an only 1 VLAN. Is this correct?  I think while the marking mode IS deployed, in which the physical switch makes all the marking and the hypervisor is configured with all virtual machines belong to a port group VLAN ID value 0. Then the physical switch port can be an access port. But in reality, has never seen that? If so, how often and when was the last time?

As I said, I have never seen this.

    Thank you

    RSEngineer wrote:

Rick, totally agree... one thing I am curious, however, is how many times IS mode IS / has BEEN used in fact...

I saw him sometimes with management and vMotion share the same interface and both on the VLAN 1 (native/not identified) on the physical switches, but for access to virtual computer is not common of course.

  • What are the free ESXi / 5.1 vsphere Hypervisor hardware required / restrictions?

Situation: I'm going to update a few web servers where I am currently under the free version of ESXi/vSphere 4.0.  When 5.0 was released, I decided to not look at new versions of VMware because of the restriction of vRAM and either run an earlier version or something.  I came across a post that says 5.1 license was different and stopped by the page 5.1 and read this http://www.vmware.com/products/datacenter-virtualization/vsphere-hypervisor/requirements.html who actually reads differently.

Questions: am I correct in my understanding of the restrictions for 5.1 are:

    1. 32 GB max RAM PHYSICS?  (It's a big change from 32GB vRAM).

    2. no limit on the number of CPUs or cores?  (This is a big change of physical processor 1 up to 6 cores max.)

    Thank you!

PS: If the only real limitation is now 32 GB RAM virtual, VMware made a good shot.  I'm not the skin to VMware, so I think that physical 32 GB is perfect.  There is still only so much you can do in the 32 GB, but there is not the complexities of licensing.  The restriction of vRAM was impassable.  Server purchase is unnecessarily complicated by restrictions of socket and core.  This means that I could buy a standard speed core 8 or 10 cheaper XEON or use an older multiprocessor machine instead of an expensive high-frequency 6 core with hyperthreading.

    1. 32 GB max RAM PHYSICS?  (It's a big change from 32GB vRAM).

Yes that's right FREE esxi supports maximum 32 GB physical RAM can only

  • Windows and Linux running on vSphere Hypervisor

I want to run VMware directly on my hardware (bare metal) and run Ubuntu and Vista as virtual machines without going to dual boot; or run Ubuntu as a host and run Vista as a client of the virtual machine.  I read a few users manual for the hypervisor and got confused however.  Looks like you must have 3 physical servers and 6 GB of RAM?  Now, I'm not sure that this product is for me.  I liked it because it was free.  I'm looking at the right software?

just in case you're not clear on this point, which I think is maybe not

If you install esxi, you will need another pc to access the virtual machines on esxi.

the only thing you can do on the esxi console is management and configuration of the host.

You can't on the console of the virtual machines.

so you would haveto have 2 pcs.

1 esxi under vista and ubuntu

2nd pc to connect to vista and ubuntu on the network machines.

  • can a test vsphere installation be 'downgraded' in a free "hypervisor vshpere" version?

A sysadmin installed vsphere installed the correct version. He was supposed to install vsphere hypervisor, which is free, but it instlead insalled the 60 trial.

We have a bunch of virtual machines and virtual switches, which would take time to re - create.

Is there anyway to return to the trial to the free license, or do we need to re - format the server and start from scratch?  Can we keep the volumes with the warehouses of data in tact and reforming the partition with installed only vshpere?  This can save our lives.

We do not have vCenter or modules of backup, in order to save the config/vms will be very difficult (although we are experimenting the vCli produced files that can be a backup).

You can keep anything - not even a reboot needed.

Just register on the VMware Web site for a free key and apply this key to your host.  You will then no longer on trial and will be on the free version.

  • Personal project: convert with VM Linux host to vSphere Hypervisor

    Hello

I have been using VMware Workstation for some years both for personal and professional purposes.

I would like to convert my Linux host with multiple virtual machines to vSphere Hypervisor server with all my existing virtual machines and data.

I currently have a Ubuntu 10.10 desktop on which I run Workstation 8 to host multiple virtual machines to Linux as a WebSphere Portal cluster (LDAP, DB2, ND, Portal 2 nodes). I also use it to host a VortexBox VM that contains my music collection. The audio files are not in the hard of the VortexBox, but are accessed through a sharing of the host folder. I have also several years of photos and documents on the host system.

    The material consists of:

    Motherboard Asus M4A785TD-V

    Corsair XMS3 16 GB

Intel PWLA8391GTBLK PRO/1000 GT Desktop Network adapt

    1 x Hitachi 1 TB (empty)

    1 x Seagate 160 GB (photos, video)

2 x Seagate 300 GB (Ubuntu, music, data, VMs)

I am very new to vSphere. What I did was install vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi 5) on a USB 8 GB on the above system and created a store of data of the 1 TB drive.

I also installed vSphere Client on a virtual Windows XP machine running on my MacBook; that I used to create the data store.

Can someone provide measures of high level on how to proceed?

I have an external hard drive on which I can copy existing virtual machines to deploy to the host of vSphere through Workstation 8.

My main concern is the best way to keep my collection of music/photo/video to make it accessible by the VM VortexBox.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Miguel

' Copy the VMs convert to another system so that I can deploy to the area of ESXi? Or is there a way to locate the VMs converted from the ESXi host (via vSphere Client) and deploy? »

ESXi must work so that the converter convert and move them to ESXi. Since it is the same dialog that VMware Workstation works on, it would mean that Ubuntu and workstation are turned off. You convert the raw files to workstation (which takes care of the tool). This will probably mean temporarily copy workstation virtual machine files to a temporary location.

"What is the advantage of the use of VMware Converter instead of use the VMware Workstation 8 to download the virtual machines on the ESXi host?"

Eventually no matter. But remember that since ESXi must be executed, you can have the two ESXi running AND Ubuntu/workstation at the same time on the same box, so in your case, wouldn't be able to do this. Another option exports all the VMS to the models of the FVO (for an external HARD drive), and then once ESXi is running, import the OVFs.

"I like the point that do you on a VM file server. If I decide to implement this option, I would be able to connect to the existing hard disks on the ESXi host without having to reformat, to preserve my data (music, photos, videos, docs, etc.)? Any recommendations? "

Although it is technically possible to have a linux format hard drive visible to virtual machines (such as a ROW), it is very unusual and massively overcomplicates things. The best thing to do would be to move the data on the hard drive temporarily, format them as VMFS data stores and then only move the data back ontop readers in a virtual hard drive. To do this way, you get all the benefits of virtualization (eg. being able to easily move this virtual hard disk on different volumes and attach easily to different virtual machines, etc.). It's a little pain in the short term, but the long-term gain.

«I'm assuming that a VM file server would be different from a NAS VM, as I have to format disks in file system regardless of the SIN in the SIN prefer (I saw a YouTube video describing FreeNAS).»

A NAS and file server are essentially the same. There is nothing more an operating system that data sharing. They all use the same protocol for sharing (samba, CIFS, iSCSI, etc.), so it does not matter in general. But yes, typically performance based most NAS on Linux OSs, so yes, it's finally sitting on a file system (ext2/3/4) of Linux. Which shouldn't matter however, as long as your other machines can access the data. If I were you, I would buy a consumer NAS (which will offer more storage and can be extended), or configure a simple VM (like FreeNAS or other) and just give him a big a VHD.
