PC Compaq laptop Presario R3000 (AMD) supports WPA2-PSK?

Hi all

I know it's an old laptop (Compaq Presario R3000 (AMD) Notebook PC).

Recently, I upgraded my system from network and start using WPA2-PSK.

I installed the patch from MS http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1974

However, the drop-down list of my Networking Wireless still doesn't show the option

for wpa2 but wpa.

Can someone tell me the reason? Is it because that which does not support my network card

the new standard wpa2?

Thank you

I think that this driver will take care of the issue...

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=3688870&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253Dob_101092_1%257CswEnvOID%253D1093%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

Yet once, in addition to the driver above you also need to run XP SP3 in order to get the plug in charge WPA2 if this microsoft SP2 WPA2 patch does not work.

  • How to fix the microphone in Compaq Presario R3000

Original thread title - how to fix the microphone in Compaq Presario R3000?

    Hello
I have a laptop Compaq Presario R3000, and I tried to use Skype on it. Problem is that the other end can't hear me. I tried all the suggestions on the site of Skype to try and attach the microphone.  I tried the recorder (click programs, accessories, then entertainment to access), but when I record my voice, nothing, so I guess it has something to do with the microphone. Just to be sure - this model has an internal microphone? What I've read, it seems that it does. I downloaded the updated drivers, so I don't think that's the problem. Any suggestions? I'll try anything now, because I spent about 6 hours online trying to get the microphone to work and so far, nothing. Thank you! Patti

    1. What problem is only on Skype?

    2. were you able to use this microphone earlier?

3 have there been any changes made on the computer before the show?

  • Compaq presario R3000 Intel P4 2.4 ghz

    Hello everyone,

It's my second company with a computer compaq laptop, it began its life with me after having been almost entirely immerse in water.

I now resurrected the motherboard of ashes so to speak - just have the 1394 and the usb2 port on this side to enter the order (like a lost cause)

Anyway, I started the mobo Infact that I use to write here on my test bench, I lightly with the bios problem that maybe someone can help?

Seems all the tags, sno., ect uuid are now replaced by Chinese characters lol, that it is a result of the previous owner or water damage is not possible to say. Obviously, I initially far flashed the Bios, however it seems that these data remain unchanged probably not a writing area or something that is copied across for obvious reasons, I guess. Seems to me it would be protected by some sort of program/utility to repair this area, changes in the mobo must require in a service center. I have Phlash16 that seems possible to edit the information by using this utility, but appears long.

Anyway, anyone know a reasonably simple to get this sort? I'm thinking of decompression of the bios change and flashing the chip with a dump directly edited to reinsert the data - don't really want to go there lol even though I have enough experience to do I don't know.

Things stand the mobo of laptop is not recognized by the automatic detection for model HP compaq, it seems so likely there will be problems when using microsoft support area since I reinstalled obviously an OS that is pre-activated and in its current form, they are not would still be a compaq/HP type lol.

I thank you for the research and assistance, you may be able to offer, pending if I find a way to solve this problem, I will present my findings and how.

Well, that was easier than I expected lol.

Find a copy of HPBC107.exe (not easy, but they hit)

If no drive disk, then you need to create a bootable cd, in my case for ease, I used a standard back to bootdisk.com bootable image. Insert a cd player usb to the sides of the Interior. copy HPBC107.exe to a disc, but also the BIOS rom image (it is said to do in the Readme app well that I am not convinced that this was necessary). I went from a: d.: after the start and connected the internal drive of the app.

Nice screen pops up, a lot of service options including model series, uuid ect.

I read all the data and it was indeed quite clear! Despite the junk on the page of the bios. It seems that the series mobo was not correct, that perhaps he had been changed out in the past, who knows. I corrected as well as rewriting all the other data. took about 2 minutes.

A reboot in the bios and happy days - no more Chinese characters ect.

The very best BIT - now the usb2, and 1394 ports have burst into life!

the app is good for a few models which it says in the readme file.

    Supported platforms: HP NX9100, NX9105 HP, HP NX9110, Presario R3000 Presario R4000 Pavilion ZV5000, Pavilion ZV6000, ZX5000 Pavilion

  • HP Compaq laptop: windows update problems

    Hello

Could someone help please, for the last few weeks where are updates of Windows security and I think that all is well I keep getting messages flashing up to say that updates could not be completed. This seems to be only on some of them, I'm not very tech savvy and have no idea how to do to fix this, it would be good if someone could tell me in simple terms how to overcome this problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi @Johnymac,

    Thank you for your response.

What is your specific model of HP Compaq laptop?

There is a link in my previous post to help you find this information.

If you have a firewall (firewall of Windows example) make sure that Windows update is on the white list. You can also try disabling the firewall and retry the Windows Update to see if that helps.  If it do not forget to reactivate it later.

Have you checked against viruses and malware?

  • Windows XP x 64 SP2 does support WPA2?

I read on a website that XP x 64 SP2 supports WPA2, but I can't select any of the PC / laptops although they were all equipped with cards "N". We have a wireless ad - hoc network and all PCs / laptops connect mode 'G' @ 54 Mbps. The network is very stable. Sometimes, the internet is a little slow, maybe because of the bandwidth shared by multiple PS and laptops, our server provide the sharing of files, printing and internet services for all PCs and laptops. We would benefit from the faster wireless network?

    Thank you for reading.

    Jennifer

Windows XP did not support WPA2 until SP3.  There is an update, however, which will add support for WPA2 to SP2.  The update is located at the:

The "System requirements" section indicates only XP SP2, but the name of the file that is downloaded is a file 'x 86', which concludes that it would not apply to an x 64 installation.

  • HP laptop - 17-p000na AMD R4: unknown PCI device

Hello all, first time on this forum...

I recently bought a HP 17 laptop p000na with AMD R4, it came with Windows 8.1 64-bit installed.

I do not earn 8.1 and in all cases, some specialized software that I use is better coimpatible with Win7 32 bit, some older software works better on XP 32-bit, some same needs BACK... I therefore immediately has got rid of 8.1, partitioned the drive and installed Win7 64 bit, Win7 32 bit and XP 32-bit SP3.  I got a slow start installing these operating systems, but was eventually successful, it!

I managaed to encourage drivers to just about everything in the Device Manager in the two Win7 32 bit and Win7 64 bit, a combination of AMD support site, HP, support from Realtek site support site. etc... But I find myself with an unknown PCI device in Device Manager.

I hope someone can shed some light on what may be the PCI device and where can I download a driver for it.

I still have to get arouhd to sort the XP drivers - I might wonder about this later!

    Thanks for reading,

    Hi, Simon:

Windows Vista Home Basic preinstalled on my Compaq laptop will not accept code provided with the computer installation. HP can't help. Your say talking to HP and HP technicians say they are unable to help him. I'm now using valid XP. HP say that conflict with Vista. Can anyone help?

    original title: VISTA VS. XP

Your technicians say talk to HP

Sorry, this is not Microsoft.  This is a public forum from user to user hosted by Microsoft on its servers for the comfort of its clients, and we all here are volunteers.

You say you use XP.  What is your question?  What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?

I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer.  If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com.  There are several of these companies.  If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model.  If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.

Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date.  Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates.  You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7.  You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.
