  • Data on the iMac, but can not access the files.

    Hi all

I have a iMac Core 2 Duo (3.33, 21.5 inches) since end 2009, running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and I'm trying to recover some files that seem to be there, but I can not access it due to an update of the unfinished software.

A few years back, I tried the Mavericks update using an external hard drive as the boot drive (at that time there I ran 10.6.7 Lion), installation is never ending and I accidentally deleted this file to start on the outside, so I ended up coming back to his moose BONE, 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

He seems to resemble a new install of Snow Leopard, except my old files (about 350 GB) still live on this subject, but I can not access all of the files, or does not even appear in the Finder.

Would appreciate any advice or tips on how to do to recover my invisible files. Thank you!

Do you see the drive in disk utility?

    1. Connect the external drive
    2. If it has external power supply, make sure that that is connected
    3. If the external hard drive has a power button, make sure that it is set to

    5. Click on finder
    6. Goto menu bar
    7. Click the menu go
    8. Choose utility
    9. Double-click disk utility

The drive will appear in the left column of the disk utility?

If the answer is Yes, if you click on the drive, and then click on check, what disk utility say?

  • Can I access a file on a server where the path is password protected?

I have a file stored on a computer in a remote location.  This file must be consulted in several test computers to update the results of the tests.  I need to access the file to collect the results.  Currently I have to connect to the remote computer via the file manager and say file manager to save the password so that LabVIEW will be able to access the test result file.  Is it possible that LabVIEW can do this?  I don't want the test computers to stay connected to the remote computer, as someone can possibly accidentally damage the file.

Without knowing anything about your computer and its recent history, I can only give you general information:

    1. run .exe from Doug Knox fix. The fix is not an .exe file so can be run. http://www.dougknox.com/XP/file_assoc.htm

    2. perform a full scan for malware. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

  • I can't access some files because I did not 'Privileges '. How do I get and access?

I had my hard drive crash. I inserted a new disc. I'm now trying to re - load my data files to an external hard drive where I do my backups. When I copy a file and try to access it, I learned that I do not haave access privileges. How can I access?

    1. Connect to the new machine with an administrator account.
    2. In Explorer, right-click on the drive and select "Properties".
    3. Select the security"" tab.
    4. Click on the "Edit" button below the list of the "group or user names.
    5. When Windows asks you "Windows needs your permission...". ', select 'continue '.
    6. Click the 'Add' button to add a new user.
    7. Type "Everyone" (without the quotes) in the box provided and click on "check names".
    8. Click OK.
    9. Now, select 'All' in the list in the "group or user names.
    10. Click on the 'Total control' box in the column "Allow", then click OK.
    11. It may take some time to complete.

Otherwise, as an administrator, you can take ownership of all files and then transfer them and then to restore the permissions to the appropriate users once transfer complete.  I will describe these procedures in more detail if you need it - but procedures are doing a better job than I ever could.  Here are the procedures: http://www.nirmaltv.com/2008/07/11/how-to-take-ownership-of-files-and-folders-in-vista/.  But this process will make you the owner of all files and you will not be able to transfer the property to standard users (since they don't have sufficient privileges to appropriate).

You should now be able to access the files and restore the backup (regardless of the method chosen).

Once the files are restored, you may need to change the permissions so that all the user is not allowed to all files and the administrator is not the owner (I don't know if cela transfers, but I think that it doesn't).  You must configure the permissions as they were before--with each user with rights to its records, all deleted user and administrators with all rights for each folder (or you can skip this last part, because you can always get permissions if you need by taking possession and maybe users want that privacy for their files even administrators).

Good luck and I hope this helps.

  • Premiere Pro can not access your file preference.

Hello. I just installed Premiere Pro 2015.3 and am getting an error that I was getting with the previous version. When I start the program I get this:

"Unable to load third party audio plugins Premiere Pro can't access your Preferences file. Your user account may not access, or the folder may have been set to read-only. Please check your permissions and try again. »

The program opens, but does not have the 'ok' button in the preference window. It is not grayed out or anything - I click on it and there is no answer. I have to click Cancel to exit the window preferably. I guess that's due to the error of file preferably.

I am logged in as an admin user, and trying to correct the situation I manually reset the permissions on the files in ~/library/application support/adobe/first pro and documents/adobe/first pro (I have no adobe tagged ~/library/preferences folder) to read and write for all users. Nothing has changed. Then I used the tip alt + shift while opening the program. Nada. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program without result. Someone at - it ideas?

I'm on a Mac Pro Yosemite 10.10.4 running end 2013.

    Hi jasonc3424121,

You have selected the option to keep the earlier version of Premiere Pro installed?

It is strange that you don't have the Adobe preferences folder. Rename the Adobe to OLD_Adobe folders instead of reset the permissions.

  • How can I access my file archive when it is not even on my list of files?

I saved a few emails in the Archive folder. However, I can't locate the folder to Archive. He isn't even on the list of folders on the left side of the screen. The website explains how to configure the folder to archive, but nowhere it doesn't explain how to get the file Archive. What I am doing wrong?
What steps should I follow in order to have the Archive folder appear in my list of folders, so that I can open and explore its usefulness and flexibility.

I found how to locate your archived messages. I did not, so I can't give more to check.

    Open Thunderbird.
Right click on your account name in the left pane.
    Click settings.
    Click copies & folders.
In the center of this area, it tells you where your archived messages.

    I hope this will help.

  • Drive external HARD USB will not access the files correctly on Satellite A100-033

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-033 (PSAANE-03J02GEN), running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.
I have a Western Digital passport external hard drive, which has no power source, because it pulls its power via the USB port.

Sometimes the player works fine, but I often have huge problems to access files on the drive. Opening a folder can make Windows to hang.

Open an audio file or a Word can do Word or audio software crash. Copy files often fails and in the process can make the Explorer Windows stop working.

Recently I tried to copy a 33MB file from the external hard drive to my laptop, and while he did it took more than an hour. So many things can happen, none of them pleasant.

Problems can occur if the external drive is the only device connected to a USB (apart from an external mouse, I always use), or if the external hard drive is one of a number of devices plugged into my laptop - either separately or through a USB hub (powered or unpowered).

Anyone know what is happening and how I can make my USB external drive usable? I have two other external drives (powered by their own power source) and they work perfectly.

Why, most of the time, do drive limp along so badly that they are virtually unusable?

    Hello

One thing is clear; the problem is definitely related to the external HARD drive and not the laptop. It seems that this problem still occurs if the HD has been connected.

It of really difficult to say what could be wrong with your external HARD drive
Maybe HARD drive sectors are corrupt, and therefore you can not open folders and some files stored on the HARD drive.

Have you tried to format the HARD drive? Check this box and try to save and re-open cases.

In the worst case that the external HARD drive has a hardware malfunction
