PDA, USB (Solar Express Card CF) host

Not sure of the interest.  But I tried the new Solar Express Compact Flash USB host card (currently in an IPAQ 210 PDA running WinMobile 6).

It worked like a charm with LabView PDA DAQbase code example and NI USB-6009 case.

I really bought this for use in an accommodation not USB - PDA and will try in an Axim X50v.

For the record the IPAQ 210 has a built-in feature, USB Host but initially good cables were not available, these are now available and the USB-6009 case work with them.  Unfortunately, I could only to work if the route cables through a USB-mini first hub.  This is not necessary with the card see

In the CF and the native IPAQ USB accommodation, no additional power supply is required to run the 6009, although I still have to check the battery consumption.  The solar Express card comes with a cable USB Y-joint, which allows the additional power supply accessory on USB.  The card CF itself, I think, is limited to 200 my draw.

See below links for the solar Express product.

I think it works well for the price of $85.  And seems to work with many older PDA, which is good for the fans and those who, like me, with the 'old' unused who hang out.

  • Express card/34 mm usb 3.0 on Satellite A210 - is it possible?

    Hello

I m considering the addition of a usb 3.0 port on my laptop and I was wondering if the expresscard / 34mm usb 3.0 would be compatible with it.
If so, what model would you recommend?

    Thank you

    Hello

The Express card slot supports the 2.5Gbps maximum transfer rate
Usually, you can use two types of Express cards; 34mm and 54mm.

Unfortunately, can not you recommend maps because I have never tested this ExpressCard USB 3.0 card. So I can't say much about the performance.

But google a bit you should find the test and other items

My HD portabale with USB3.0 interface is not recognized. Also all USB 2.0 memory sticks are NOT regonised by this card pci of USB 3.0.

I searched on the web, this forum ect. and posible all software and drivers updated.

Now at least there's no sign of escalmation in the Windows Device Manager.

There are no errors in Windows and by double clicking on each and evry device a puppy window says: "device is functioning! (But when I put in a usb in the port USB3 device, nothing happens, not even a new drive appears under 'Computer'.)

OK maybe the card is the default, so I bought at a local PC store a new one (Konig CMP-PCIE2USB3), but same problem.

Well maybe the PCI slot is the problem... I put the card HP in the free location. But still no luck.

Now I have 2 PCI USB 3.0 Express card in my office, but no USB 3.0 for my USB 3.0 devices connection.

All USB 2.0 ports are working well.

    Help, please.

I uninstall the original card and don't forget to remove the driver. Then install the Konig CMP-PCIE2USB3 and install the driver from the Web site. Don't forget to attach the molex 4 pin of your power supply.

    Hello

I imagine that as long that you used a USB 3.0 device that did not need an external power supply (such as a USB flash drive) or had an external power supply (such as a hard disk enclosure) adapater that things would be fine.  You can contact the seller and ask what is the maximum current for each USB 3.0 port, and whether or not the card can provide that simultaneously for all three ports.

    Kind regards

  • Express card slot new dv7

I am awaiting delivery of a new dv7. My old laptop (old and still under Windows 98) had a PCMCIA slot I have a couple of cards for. My question is quite simple, the old PCMCIA cards will fall into the new Express card slot?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

No, I'm sorry to say that they will not. Although most of the features that people used to use pcmcia cards is attended the computers internal laptop is still a rude awakening for a lot of people when they can use the old card mobile broadband on this new laptop and they must spend more money to get a usb or expresscard version.

    * USB floppy drive, HARD drive, ODD, Network (LAN), USB memory *.

As you can see booting from Express Card is not supported.

  • Satellite R630-155 - no express card slot

    Hello

I have a R630 155 and I have a PC card / Express card slot as far as I know. Toshiba manual shows that it would be just below the optical drive [cd] on the right side of the laptop, but I do not have such a slot. Anyone know if it is possible to run a 'real' serial port using the usb ports. I have hardware installed on the field that requires a real serial port and will not work with normal cable converter usb to serial port that can be purchased. I have an another Toshiba that I use the pc card slot and I did not notice that the new laptop does not seem to have this facility. Maybe someone can help / advise?

    Best regards, peter jones.

    Hi Peter,.

Ist point R630 hat not all models are equipped with a PC card and express card slot. As you can read in the manual that only some models are fitted with this slot machine.

On Amazon and other online shopping, I found a few USB-adapters series so I think that this should be the correct part for you but I n t understand what you mean with real serial port.

In your case I would just test it and if it doesn't work, you can send it back ;)

  • Satellite L350 - how to use the express card slot?

Can someone tell me about the L350 what means the express card slot?

Only, I'm used to having the SD and memory stick cards.
Is there an express card to use with this or can get you an adapter for other cards?

    Thank you smokeyb

    Hello

You should look in the user manual. You will find lots of information about the batch of express cards.

The express card slot allows you to install ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54 to extend functionality.
For example, the external WiFi cards, USB cards, etc. use this slot machine.

    Hello

I guess that your average slot on the right side of the laptop.
Well, the express card expansion slot can accommodate two standard module formats: an expressCard/34 and expresscard/54 module to the module. An expressCard module is small, modular add-in card technology based on USB and PCI Express interface.

    Please read this article:

  • Slot PCMCIA (Express card) does not not on the Qosmio F50

I have a new notebook from Toshiba Qosmio F50.
I am in the express card slot allows you to display images on a CF card, but it does not work, it does not detect anything.

Any idea? Should it be turned on at all?

Do you use an adapter to view the photos on a CF card?
Maybe this card will not take in charge the laptop.

And do you see anything in the Device Manager?

What happened when you use the CF card with a USB card reader? Similarly?

  • Satellite A200 - I can boot from PCI express card?

    I have a laptop A200.

I recently bought a PCI expresscard HD. Many people have asked this question already on many sites and regarding several different brands and models of laptops. According to anadtech and other techys the only way to do an ExpressCard hd is updated the BIOS. During the installation of Windows it says that it canoe on the device because the BIOS is not able to boot from it.

Toshiba creates a new BIOS to allow starting the expresscard hd or not Toshiba have a laptop model that will allow already, as im thinking of buying a new laptop but only if this option is available.

There someone using windows vista/xp knows a way round.

    Hello

As far as I know it s not possible to boot from PCI express card on Satellite A200.
In addition these books where you can boot from this slot are not known to me. Only the options HDD, CD/DVD, USB and network, but all that s.

In addition, I put t know what you mean with PCI expresscard HD.
    Is what exactly?

  • Satellite P300 - 220 (PSPCCE) and express card FireWire

I have problems with an IRQ that is shared between the firewire (IEEE1394) and ati mobility radeon 4600. (the IRQ used by both devices is 16)
Sharing this make my firestudio presonus (external FireWire sound card) problems when playing music on my DAO.

I would buy an Express card for this problem, but I have to be sure that it won't be the same IRQ (16) than the other firewire connection.

If you use such a card please check wich IRQ is used when it is connected on the laptop.
You can see with Device Manager.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The Windows operating system controls and assigns automaticity all remedies to all controllers!
In my case the SD host controller and the graphics card share the same IRQ 16 and there is NO conflict.
So I doubt that your problem is related to the same IRQ which is used by firewire and graphics card.

Sorry, but that's all I can suggest about your question

  • Z210 Convertible Minitowers: Z210: a USB 3.0 card 4 ports compatible?

I have an Z210 convertible minitour, who currently holds the HP 2 port USB3 SuperSpeed card that is based on the older NEC chipset. It sits in the Slot 3, a PCIe2x1 slot.

I know that the NEC chipset is pretty old now. But the real problem is that I need a few USB3 ports. I saw a thread here that has considered this question, but does not really all specific maps, and it was related to the Z400, another machine.

I have had a look and it seems that many tech enterprise vendors offer a card, the CP-4PTU USB 3.0 4-Port PCI Express Card (PG0480) anyone know if it will work in the Z210? Other possible cards?

    TIA!

Map of NEC had two exits USB3.  HP went with a 4 ports TI chipset based '2 + 2' PCIe card for Z400/Z600/Z800 workstations.  The 2 + 2 means two aft and two if you want to forward.  Z620/Z820 integrated this same TI chip on the motherboard.  Thus, drivers for chips Z620 TI of these workstations work very well for the card on motherboard both chipsets on PCIe.

I use these TI cards based on my workstation xw6400 and xw6600... they work very well, and I plug them into the second port of PCIe x 16 spare for the max bandwidth of PCIe type II location in the xw6600.  The xw6400 has no connectors all PCIe gen II, however.

The rear bottom of basket of the map has two ports for two accessories USB 3.0, and there is an addition of port Unified on the map (front) which you can plug a double cable end adding two more USB 3.0 ports (front).  I love the face cards Akasa... high quality and more than enough before long.  They have one that fits great in the floppy bay area and also one for the wider Bay optical since many work stations now do not have a floppy bay site.

These cards must be powered with a good 5V power from a SATA power supply or a power Molex adapter... do not load software until you give it only + 5V power because some parts will be not visible by the installation program until they are turned on with adequate power.  + 5VDC is not upward on the map of the PCIe slot... only of the power cable.  I'm actually using an adapter less amperage from the floppy power plugs in my xw workstations, but for higher use AGP, I would recommend the spare Molex or SATA Adapter approach.  You can find these like a map without adapter via eBay sometimes... the complete kit of HP is about 50,00.  Search with google for QT587AA for the complete kit of HP.

What you don't want to... version 2 ports of NEC.  It is the + 5V power supply to the back of the map that you see here, and only two USB 3.0 ports are possible.  This is in contrast to the version of TI chipset below this image of the NEC version:

The TI version is below... There the power plug at the top and the front port double its rear end, below these two capacitors:

You will see that the front bay Akasa kits include a single outlet that feeds on the back of the card via two cables on two USB3 ports.  Eventually you throw this little adapter that see you at the bottom of the picture near the Middle, generally.

Here is the HP part number, you can use to search on eBay... you'll usually only find the card on eBay, not kit.  HP power supply cable can be very useful to have, and I've seen those if you buy the kit from HP directly.  Otherwise, you will have to dink with other adapters.  The latest drivers are easier to find on the site of HP Z620 drivers.  Part of HP for the card number is only 661320-001.
