PDF file print symbols instead of letters/numbers

Hello

PDF file prints (square) symbols instead of letters/numbers. I've tried different printers, assume that is not a defect in the print settings that the problem occurs with all used printers. What can I do? Would appreciate a step by step description possible solutions. Thank you.

Open the application book fonts. Select all the fonts, and then select "Validate fonts" in the file menu.

  • Cannot display PDF files, automatically download instead

I use the pdf viewer integrated for centuries without problem. Today, for the first time, I found that I could see is no longer notes pdf for my Korean online courses. Instead, a record/download dialog popped up.

Initially this problem included all THE PDFs that I tried to open it in FF. It has been about 6 hours at this point, which is crazy - and I went through a considerable amount of solving the problems of methods (not necessarily in that order, apart from the last two):

    • Installed Schubert PDF Browser Plugin.
    • Disabled the PDF Viewer integrated via preferences > applications and move to a different Viewer: schubert... always had save box.
    • Installed the plug-in Adobe PDF... couldn't use (I use a Mac os x 10.7, + the plug-in Adobe is buggy and not a viable option for me)
    • Delete the mimetypes.rdf... no changes to the file.
    • Launched FF in safe mode... no change.
    • The built in Viewer again activated via preferences > applications > portable document format (pdf) > Preview in firefox.
    • Check that "pdfjs.disabled" has been switched to 'false' in subject: config... It has been.
    • About: config I have reset "plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types" by default, and then change the value to: ' video/mp4, application/pdf '.
    • Delete the mimetypes.rdf file.
    • Re-initialize the plugins database.

The problem continued until I reset my plugin database and tried to delete the mimetypes.rdf again and make another restart.

Now it seems that most pdf opens fine with the integrated Viewer and schubert. However the site which I fell initially on the problem with: http://www.koreanclass101.com doesn't open PDF and still opens the Save dialog automatically whenever I click on open the pdf links. It also does the same thing when I get the pdf directly in the address bar.

I have to pay a subscription so I'm not sure, you can go to this link without being a student, but here it's just in case: www.koreanclass101.com/pdfs/BB_L5_051611_kclass101.pdf

(to note this page of links to another pdf file that is not hosted on koreanclass101, and this pdf that opens now fine for me.)

I tried to clear the cache and cookies to koreanclass101, but even after this, the problem persists. I wonder if the fact that it has Korean text on the PDF of the questions at all? Although I don't know why he would do.

I really need a fix for this! The teachings are based on the ability to switch at the back of the audio in pdf format IN my browser. When I open the PDFs with preview and run interactive lessons in FF at the same time, FF slows down to a crawl and begins to hang whenever I go back and forth btwn programs.

As you can see, the Content-Type is correct, but a download prompt is forced with the Content-Disposition: attachment header. Install the add-on from InlineDisposition, then click on the PDF link again. It should then behave as you specified under Options - Applications.

I have two files: a jpeg and a single pdf, card, size A4.  They look identical when displayed on the screen, but when I print, the jpeg format is perfect and the pdf smear through it. This is a new printer and I had no such problem on my previous HP Photosmart 6510. Any ideas?

    Hello @pamhans, greetings!

Welcome to the HP Forum! It is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get help and advice.

I understand that you are having problems when printing an image in PDF format. I would like to help with that.

First of all, I would like to know the app that you use to open / print PDF files. You use "Adobe reader" or another application?

If you do not use the Adobe reader software, please install Adobe reader, and then try to print the pdf image.

If you already use Adobe reader software, follow the steps below:

    1. try the option "Print as image":

    • Choose file > print and then click Advanced.
    • Select print as Image.
    • Click OK to close the Advanced Print Setup dialog box, and then click OK to print.

    2. install the last update:

    • Open Acrobat or Reader.
    • Choose Help > check for updates. If a new update is available, it installs automatically.
    • Once installed, restart your computer.
    • Print the PDF again.

In addition, please go through the steps here: http://hp.care/2dSDxCD

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance

    Hello

    Thank you for your response.

Because the problem is now solved, do not follow the other steps or the first step. You can copy these steps and save it in a file for later reference. In case, if the problem happens again in the future, then you can try more of these measures. For now, do not follow step.

    Good impression.

Remove and uninstall Acrobat Reader. Now download and install Acrobat Reader DC from the Adobe web site. Try now.

Got it to work.  I discovered that the updates have been downloaded, but the computer needed to restart to get them set up.  PDF does not open until this happened.  By chance, I noticed a message that says my computer will re-start in two days to config updates.  I chose restart and it took 40 minutes for an update installation and config.  Fingers crossed I checked my pdf and they ran.  problem solved.

  • DeskJet 600 prints symbols and random letters

I use win xp pro and try to get an old HP Deskjet 600 to work.

I connected with a parallel cable.

No problem with the paper feeder or ink cartridges.

When asked to print from word or the test page, I get a page of garbage with symbols and random letters.

The first line begins with a symbol of the spade and then capital L then followed arrow on another capital L.

Is he crazy or is there a solution?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Lynnega

Hi Lynnega - usually this kind of problem is the result of having the selected incorrect printer driver or a problem with the cable.  A couple of things to check:

-When you click on print (from any program you print from - from MS Word), make the DeskJet 600 is selected.  If it is not selected, search through the list and select it.

-If the 600 DeskJet is selected, turn the printer off and unplug and reconnect the parallel cable to the computer and the printer.

-If is not yet solve the problem, I recommend to try another cable.  Cables can go wrong and the result is usually the impression of 'trash' that you see.

    Hope that helps.

  • The value of PDF file printed via the script name

    Hi people!

I have a little problem with the generation of a PDF file. First my Workflow:

I have an InDesign document with 6 pages. This document is merged with a databasefile containing 100 records. After it is merged, we need to generate a PDF file. This PDF file is opened in acrobat. In the document, I am looking for one ID for each record so I can split the document to 100 files (each with 6 pages) and name by the ID that I found.

The Acrobat script is finished and functional. I thought: the InDesign script is over, too. But I was wrong-. -.

I merged the databasefile with the document and it has exported to PDF. But after export, we noticed that the Acrobat script isn't finding the adressheader where ID is in. The script only noticed the text after this header. The result is, as get-Acrobat always 'null' as ID

If print us the PDF with our PDFprinter, the header could be read by our script of Acrobat. I don't know why this is... But now, I changed the script to print the files through our PDF printer. Unfortunately I can not set a name for my exported file - do you know if it is possible to print PDF files without asking for confirmation after each other as well as with a via script name?

Here you can see the old writing for InDesign and after her, the sript Acrobat. Maybe I made a mistake by generating my PDFexport and have no need to use the printer?

  • How can I get firefox to open a pdf file in adobe instead of the new pdf reader?

Before the recent update, 19.0, I google something and see [PDF] next to a link. I click the Center button to open it in a new tab. Firefox might download the file and open it with Adobe Reader. I like this.

With the new update 19.0, the pdf file would open in the new tab. I have to down load it and then open it in Adobe. I don't like this.

I'm going to preferences under applications. I look to see if I can change that. Next to document Adobe Reader, I choose to use Adobe Reader, but when I click on a link [PDF], it always opens the file in Firefox and not Adobe.

I want to go back to the way it was.

Problem: Open a pdf file in Firefox, he wants to save the file.
    Remedy:
In Firefox, tools, Options, choose the column on the left (Content Type) Applications tab, select Portable Document Format (pdf). Right column (Action) choose Preview in Firefox.
    I use Firefox 21.0.

Printing of pages of my Internet Explorer.  Instead of words on the pages, I get jumbled symbols.  How to print to PDF correctly?

  • XP opens with symbols instead of letters, making it unreadable files and icons in the task bar and office

To start my computer opens with letters replaced by symbols.  I ran antivirus, antimalware, etc. and finally went to the restoration of the system, and allows a point of restoring a couple of days before returning to the letters.  A few days later, the same problem occurred.  No, the system restore has no previous restore points available dates and I'm stuck. Help.

HI AskDrL (and this also applies to the DrLHP - but you should follow the advice of the PA bear and not post back here if it does not help you - unless I suspect you two are really the same person with two usernames).

Try a clean boot (Vista and W7) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem. Follow the procedures described in the article. Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall. Once don't forget to reset your system back to the normal state, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work. If you are using XP, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316434.

Try starting mode safe mode with networking to see if the problem is here.  If this isn't the case, we have little room to work.

Check the display properties to make sure that fonts and styles are correct:

    In XP, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/140752/en-us.

    In Vista, see http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/78281-advanced-appearance.html

    In Windows 7, see [2] http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/282-window-color-appearance-change.html?filter = appearance

Check the locale and language to ensure that they do not appear in something weird and are set to standard English with normal fonts.

Check Device Manager to see if there are problems with the video or monitor.  Whether (or not), go to the manufacturer of the computer or a web page of the manufacturer of the device and get the latest driver, firmware or software for the video card and monitor that are appropriate for your devices and your operating system.  To update all that is available and there is place and then reboot and see if that helps.

If this does not work, I recommend repost you in the Windows Forum where experts in this will be more than happy to help you: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/desktop?page=1&tab=all&tm=1300700638376 but first, to the top, where it says Windows Version, use the dropmenu to select your, then you will find yourself in the appropriate forum for your system.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

P.S. If you are the same person, then you should uninstall it and use on McAfee removal tool as having AVG installed at the same time and it can cause disorders and problems - I doubt that what we see here, but it still needs to be done.  After normal uninstallation of McAfee, use the removal tool to get rid of leftovers: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507.  I don't know if this will solve the problem, but this should be done in any case that is likely to cause other problems on the road later.

  • LaserJet P2055 very slow in the scanned PDF files printing

We have three printers Laserjet P2055DN.

They have all of the extreme difficulties in printing scanned PDFs, especially of our Toshiba e_Studio 451 Copier/scanner.

The printer that I'm testing has 384 MB of ram. The OS is Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.

The drivers and firmware are later (October 25, 2010).

Each page takes 15 minutes or longer to print.

One of the printers is hosted on Fedora 13 and has the same problem.

    Just loaded on 11 February 2011 PCL6 Windows 7 32 bit driver.

    It works!

Will have to try on February 11, 2011 PS driver then.

    Yippee.
