Performance issues with Photoshop CS6 64-Bit

Hello-

Issue at hand: in recent weeks, I noticed significant problems with performance since the last update PS CS6 using the Adobe Application Manager, from the unexpected shut downs to bring my computer to a crawl (literally, my cursor seems to crawl on my screens). I'm curious to know if anyone knows these issues, or if there is a solution I have not yet tried. Here is a list of actions that give rise to these performance issues - there are probably more that I have not experienced due to my frustration, or were not documented as occurring several times:

  • Opening files - results by hanging processes, takes 3-10 seconds to solve
  • Paste from the Clipboard - results by hanging processes, takes 3-10 seconds to solve
  • Saving files - takes 3-10 seconds to open the dialog box, another 3 to 10 seconds to return to the normal window (saving an image PNG compressed)
  • The eyedropper tool - will crash Photoshop on the desktop, or take 5 to 15 seconds to load
  • Try to navigate any menu - Photoshop crash on the office or take 5 to 15 seconds to load

Attempts I took to solve this issue, which failed:

  • Uninstalled all fonts I have added since the last update (it's a pain in the *, thanks to be glitch Windows Explorer)
  • Uninstall and reinstall the application
  • Edition 32-bit use
  • Change process priority to above normal
  • Confirm the process for all available cores of the processor affinity
  • Change the configuration of the performance of Photoshop options
    • 61% of memory is available to Photoshop to use (8969 MB)
    • History States: 20; Cache levels: 6; Tile cache size: 1024K
    • Records of work: active on the production of SSD, ~ 10GB of available space
    • Dedicated graphics processor is selected (2 x nVidia cards in SLI)

System information:

  • Intel i7 2600 K @ 3.40 GHz
  • 16 GB of RAM Dual Channel DDR3 memory
  • 2 x nVidia GeForce GTS 450 cards, 1 GB each
  • Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
  • Adobe Creative Cloud

This problem is cost me time that I work every day, and I'm about to start looking for alternatives and cancel my subscription if I can't get this resolved.

Have you tried to restore your preferences to set the parameters of performance return to their default values and restart Photoshop? http://blogs.Adobe.com/Crawlspace/2012/07/Photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-MOS t - issues.html #Preferences

I'm retouching of images taken on my iPhone 6 more with Photoshop CS6. I'm doing my color correction and add effects and all that. Before you export the image I review and be sure to what I has no more sharpness and the lines are smooth and it looks good overall. I export it to JPEG, max quality with the establishment of reference standards. I then open the image and it seems fine, as it did in photoshop. My problems begin to occur when I try to download on Twitter as my profile picture. I tried downloading from my office directly on the site via google chrome. When I download the image then begins to have jagged edges and overlooks the tablets. So I thought it was some performance settings, then I tweaked them and restarted a couple of times and still the same result. He would go on my desk but when uploaded to twitter as my profile picture is horrible. So I tried emailing the image of myself and the download through my phone. I opened the image on my iphone and it seemed fine as he did on my desktop but when I downloaded the image it makes then look blurry. I had this problem when downloading photos Twitter via my iphone, so it doesn't surprise me. I have read different forums saying: you must download it from the office, so I thought it would work like this. This could be a problem of twitter than compresses uploaded photos? Other people can do very much the same way, but it does not work for me. Please someone help me before I put my computer in an oven microwave.

This could be a problem of twitter than compresses uploaded photos?

Yes. The rest, we can answer. You wrote a lot, but very little discussion. Instead of accurate information you lose yourself in the vague descriptions. Screw color management to the wrong dimensions that trigger resizing server-side it could be any number of things here.

    Hi denisb,

If you are not able to open the Photos App images directly in Photoshop then, this is the expected behavior as App Photos does not allow for any third-party application interact with it directly.

You must export images from the Photos App and then open in Photoshop.

  • Photoshop CS6 32 Bit HDR hangs on the question of MAC

    Photoshop crashes every time that I convert a 32-bit image to 8-bit. I use Photoshop CS6 v13.0.4 x 64 on MAC OS X 10.6.8.  I goto Image > Mode > 8bits/channel.

    image_01.png

When HDR images Merge dialog box appears, click on "merge".

    image_02.png

In the next window on HDR toning, it blocks immediately. (immediately, as in a second after I took this screenshot)

    image_03.png

When I click on "do not merge" it works very well, so he has something to do with the HDR toning editing capabilities.

I had problems before with CS6 work with images of 32-bit on my Mac. I posted on the Adobe forum not for a long time there is a problem with the use of the content aware fill. It would make black in my selection. However it worked fine on Windows.  In addition, some who had who have also used MAC OS X 10.6.8 made it a TI worked well, however, that he was using Photoshop CS6 v13.0.1 x 64, while I use x 64 v13.0.4.  So I think that something's broken in the subsequent updates for PS CS6 for Mac.  If I had to reinstall Photoshop it will come back on v13.0.1?

A reinstall will give you 13.0 you will need to manually update to 13.0.1.

  • Performance issues with large number of nodes

I am creating an application to display graphics (large), for example:

    graph.png

But I ran into some performance issues, even for a relatively small number of nodes in the scene graph (+-2000 in the picture above). The graph is built, step by step, adding circles and paths to a StackPane. Circles and paths can be semi-transparant. For a small number of nodes, I get a solid 60 FPS, but this decreases over time to about 5 frames per second. As soon as I stop adding new nodes, the framerate shoot again up to 60 images per second. The framerate drop even when all the nodes are outside the viewport.

    My questions are:

    * Is Platform.runLater () call to 2000 times a minute too?

    * This might just be a problem with my graphics card? (I have an Intel HD Graphics 3000)
    * JavaFX pulse recorder says such things, are there meaningful information in that I'm missing?

    PULSE: 1287 [163MS:321MS]

    T14 (0 + 0ms): col of CSS

    T14 (0 + 5ms): layout pass

T14 (6 + 152ms): waiting for the minutes of the previous

T14 (158 + 0ms): copy the State for graphic rendering

    T12 (159 + 0ms): dirty opts calculated

T12: Path of the slow form for null

    T12 (159 + 160ms): painted

    T12 (319 + 2ms): Presentable.present

    T12 (321 + 0ms): completed the presentation of painter

    Counters:

Background image of the region used cached: 14

    NGRegion renderBackgroundShape slow path: 1

    Nodes displayed: 1839

    Nodes visited during rendering: 1840

    Kind regards

    Yuri

Basically, try some optimization of performance ranging from the simple to the complex.   Each of the changes below may provide you with an increase in performance.  Some will probably increase performance much more that others (depending on where is the real bottleneck).  I would probably start by replace the paths to the lines and reduce the number of Platform.runLater calls (as adding nodes that fall within the viewport can be difficult only).

    > The framerate drop even when all the nodes are outside the viewport.

Place the nodes in the graph, which fall inside the viewport.

    > Is Platform.runLater () call to 2000 times a minute too?

Yes, there is no reason to call it more than 60 times a minute when the framerate of JavaFX is capped at 60 frames per second by default.

    > This might just be a problem with my graphics card? (I have an Intel HD Graphics 3000)

Yes, it's a graphics system relatively low-end.  But, look at the comment of developer below - your CPU and choice of graphic primitives can also affect rendering speed.

    > Adding circles and the paths to a StackPane

You don't need a StackPane to this, a group is a container easier and probably better.

    > may be semi-transparant

Remove transparency * may * cause acceleration.

    ----

    You run may be:

https://JavaFX-JIRA.Kenai.com/browse/RT-20405 : improve the rendering of path performance

Maybe if you use lines rather than the paths, performance might improve.

A comment by a developer on this performance tweak application is:

«It is quite normal for applications that use arbitrary paths (if the node path objects, SVGPath, polyline, or polygon) because these paths are rendered in software.» As card circle, Ellipse, line and Rectangle very primitive forms easily to the operations that can be performed entirely on the GPU, which makes them essentially cheap. There is no need to compare the rendering of a complicated shape for rendering of simple primitives for this reason. »

    ----

Setting the cache indicators can help, but probably only if you animate nodes.

    ----

Present level of detail of your graph functionality so a chart with zoom out is not make as many nodes as a part of zoomed in.

    ----

You run any code important calculation on the JavaFX application thread that could stall it?

Can make you available a ftom so that others can reproduce your problems?

  • Need with Photoshop CS6 13.0 slow down when you use MANY fonts.

    Hello

I have problems with my installation of Photoshop CS6 extended 13.0. I have a large collection of fonts (more than 9000 - no joke) and Photoshop slows down bad whenever I do something that requires the use of the fonts/typing/text handling. I tried to disable the font previews. Photoshop is still too slow. I found a related thread and have additional questions about my situation:

    • Is there a way to mitigate the slowdown in Photoshop when something related to fonts?
    • Will be updated to the latest version of CS6 help? I should even try to update?
    • I have to reduce the number of fonts activated? If so, what is a good number to aim for?
    • Any advice on the management of fonts? The thread mentions Typekit - I do not have a full subscription to CC. Other tools of management of good police (preferably free) that you can recommend?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

9000 fonts?  How many people have you used last year?

Not really sure what to tell you. Using a lot of fonts is a serious drain on system resources.  How long does Photoshop take to open?  Some time I think.

TypeKit used to be a wonderful resource, but it has become very limited, if you only plan to photograph, and it would do precisely nothing to the management of your 9000 fonts.  Not a garbage.

I used TypeDNA for awhile and well liked.

  • can I use a touch screen with photoshop CS6 and Windows 7

I need to define specific image areas to make a binary image of the organelles in an electron microscope of a cell. It would be much easier by using a pen as a mouse. Can I fix a touch screen to my computer monitor and use Windows 7 and Photoshop CS6?

    Hello George,.

If I myself remember well touch sensitivity was introduced with Windows 8 and improved in point 8.1, so I doubt if a touchscreen monitor would work. You could easily use a graphics tablet, but enjoy the extra convenience of drawing on a screen with a science-based application.

    Hope that helps

  • DPPO with Photoshop CS6

On the eve of the new year, I first want to wish everyone a happy new year! OK, enough with the good mood.

I just started using the laptop performance Dell Precision (DPPO) on a new computer optimizer; so when I go to the PS, the DPPO automatically calls the profile built for Photoshop CS/CC. I noticed that my monitor D55 calibration goes to a very brilliant D65. I guess that's because the point blank for Adobe RGB D65. (???)

The laptop is a Dell Precision Workstation 7710 with a 4K display. It is the only screen that is converted to D65. The Cintiq 21UX legacy and U2713H Dell both retain their settings of D55. Photoshop is still used on the Cintiq. (Almost impossible to use it on a 4K screen).

Dell claims boosts performance with some applications, but I did not really useful comments of DPPO. I use it on a new machine; so, I have no sense of the performance with or without. If, as claimed, the 'engine' CPU/GPU works best with the DPPO and on the Cintiq (which retains its calibration D55) work in PS, I guess to go of the laptop screen D65 is just a minor annoyance. I'm just curious to know (1) the question of whether someone can confirm every advantage in terms of performance using DPPO with PS profile and (2) if there is a way to override the settings of the monitor of the DPPO while retaining some other advantages it can provide.

What version of Windows are you using?  What are the graphics in your machines? What version of PS? Maybe something to do with the change of brightness of color see you.

I do not think you will notice an improvement in performance because the parameters DPPO COULD do.  Photoshop isn't very high-performance computing with the exception of some filters.  Photoshop also uses your GPU more these days to help improve some performance of filters.  I think you can notice an improvement if you do a lot of Photoshop Batch Processing. However when your working interactively with an image in Photoshop, I don't think you would notice by Dell setting improves performance.  Make you in Photoshop like brush spacing you will notice performance changes.  Can cause lag even brush.
