If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums.

From your post, it seems that the backup is not complete and give you an error code: 0 x 80070002.

    Quick questions:

    1. What is the full error message?

    2. how many profiles user is there is your computer?

    3. What Backup program do you use?

    This problem may occur if:

    Cause of scenario 2

This problem occurs if the following conditions are met:

Method 2: Try to run the check disk on the system using the link below.

  • External backup error code 0x80070005

I get a error code 0x80070005 when I try to do a full back up to my external hard drive.  He says "access denied" but I am the administrator. This problem just started.  I disconnected and reconnected the external drive and my computer recognizes that there is no problem.

    Hello

    1. don't he stops at any specific file?

    2. do you have permissions to the entire file for the files that you are backing up and to the destination you save back to the top?

    3. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

To work around the problem, you will need to follow the steps below.

Step 1: I suggest to try to create a backup in the clean boot state and make sure that the antivirus software is disabled temporarily and check if that helps.

Follow the instructions in step 1 in the following article. Run the backup and check if that helps.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: make sure you put the computer to a Normal startup, once the troubleshooting completed.

    Disable the anti-virus software

    Warning:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Cannot view or change the settings of backup - error Code 0 x 80070422

I am able to run a backup using the existing settings/settings I put when my system was new two years ago.  I just ran a backup and finished without any problems.  But when I click on "Change settings" to view the settings, I get the error code 0 x 80070422.  Error message States "the backup application could not start due to an internal error" followed by "the service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices is associated to him.

I already read many posts on this site about this error and how to correct.  I followed the suggested steps to fix the problem, but the error persists. =(

Specifically, I checked that the following Services are enabled.

-"Remote Procedure Call" (RPCSS) must be active, Automatic.

'COM + Event System"(EventSystem) must be active, Manual.

-'System Event Notification Service"(SENSE) must be active, Automatic.

-"Volume Shadow Copy" (VSS) must be active, Manual.

'Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider' (SWPRV) must be active, Manual.

I also ran an SFC scan and received the following confirmation at the end-

"Windows resource protection has not found any breach of integrity."

Any suggestions on the next steps, I could try to fix this?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Please provide detailed information on this issue and I appreciate your valuable troubleshooting efforts toward the resolution of the problem.

However, we are still missing about two or three services so that this error happens when the necessary services are disabled.

Method 1: Please check these services.

    • Block level backup engine - active - repair manuals
    • -Active - backup manual Windows

If the settings above does not work, you can try to adjust Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) on Automatic and check if that helps. Then change it back to Manual after verification.

Once you make changes according to the above specifications, you can try a backup and check to see if that solves the problem.

If the problem persists, follow the next method.

    Method 2: Disable the antivirus.

You can also try to temporarily disable the security software of the computer and try to create a backup and check if it works. If you are able to create a backup, you can contact the manufacturer of security software and check if you need to change the settings. Later, re-enable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Hello Sherman,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

    1. Do you take backup on an internal hard drive or an external drive?
    2. Significant changes were made to your computer before this problem?

In addition to all the services you mentioned, I suggest you to check and make sure that the following services are started and set to automatic.

Motor Service-level backup Windows Event Log & Task Scheduler

If the problem persists, try the following steps.

    Step 1:

Try to take backup after you put your computer in a clean boot state, that State to the clean boot your system help determine if third party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

    Perform a clean boot.

Note: After troubleshooting, consult this section «How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting»

    Step 2:

I would also say that you check your hard disk for errors.

I have a Lacie external hard disk, and the drive letter is H for it on my system. I run the "Backup and Restore" program of Windows 7 and accept the default settings. Hello

Check if you have two drives C: in the list with the same name of Volume (see figure below). Uncheck the box for the double volume and select the check box for the good player (the one with the Windows logo).

As far as I can tell that this problem has been in existence for at least six months. I have just updated to Windows 7, MSFT is well aware of this problem, why have they not put an update? I have read the information written by MSFT employees who seem to be a cure, the problem is a problem to understand the functioning of a computer to accomplish the Herculean task which they suggest. I just want my computer to work. Can someone give me please a simple to follow instructions.

You just need to create a new partition on your hard disk to use for backups. Go to control panel - system and safety - create and format hard disk partitions. Once there right click on your drive and reduce the volume of a few GB in order to free up space. Then right-click on the empty partition and select create volume simple. You will be able to give it a new drive letter (C, D, etc.) so when you do change your backup settings to use the new drive letter and it should work for you.

  • Backup error code Ox81000019

To try to save my laptop on an external hard drive on the network, I get message 'the application view event log' for ' VSS and 'PSP' and backup finishes. " I backed up my office in the same place without problem. Previously saved portable to another disk external network without problem.

I did some research but no result. I would appreciate an answer that starts with "Here's what you do..." "I'm not technical enough to unfold the 'mystery' VSS, CPR or even 'application log '. Thanks for any help.

    Hi Phil,

The problem here is with the external hard drive file system, make sure that the external hard drive is formatted with NTFS and FAT32 file system not.
because FAT32 does not support more than 4 GB file size.

You can also try to increase the space used by the service Volume Shadow Copy (VSS). (See steps below)

    1. click the button start-> all programs-> Accessories.
    2. right click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".
    3. click on continue when user account control window appears.
    4. type the following command and press ENTER:

    Vssadmin resize shadowstorage / on = C: / For = C: / MaxSize = 10 GB

(This number is just an example. Use as much as you want, the maximum number of the MaxSize value is 15% of the space in the partition).

    Back to all doubts.
