Run checkdisk - schedule it to run at the next startup, then apply OK then restart your way.

  • What is the largest hard drive or the RAID supported by El Capitan and Yosemite?

What is the largest hard drive or the RAID supported by El Capitan and Yosemite?  Also, WHERE can I find this specification?  Drobo claims that 16 TB is the largest external RAID supported and I do not.

FYI............ 2 UPDATES since I posted this question:

"1. Drobo has updated their FIRMWARE to allow now to 'beyond' 64 power to RAID".  Thus, their original 16 TB limit has now been replaced by their new limit of 64 to.  Also note that when you use a Drobo, Apple Mac OS does correctly shows space 'Drive' and the 'free space', if the Drobo 16TB exceeds the size; but the Application DashBoard of Drobo displays the correct numbers.  For example, my Drobo 5 d contains 5, 8 TB disks, for a total size beyond 40 to RAID (theoretically, since most of us should know, now, that the ACTUAL SIZE IS SLIGHTLY SMALLER than THE THEORETICAL SIZE).  AVAILABLE FOR USE ACTUAL SIZE IS ONLY 28.9 TB.  Thus, 40-28, 9 = 11.1 TB gets used in place for the PROTECTION of RAID beyond and the difference between REAL SPACE and SPACE THEORY.  It IS NORMAL because any RAID 5 device always uses about 1 size of hard drive for its Protection.  So, knowing this, the DeskTop icon showing 28.9 TB disk space and free space as everything that is not yet used.  However, instead, the Mac OS shows 70,37 TB disk space and free space like 68,37 TB, which are both incorrect.  Although I'd love it if Mac OS has been magically increase my disk space, in fact, these two numbers are false.  Drobo knows this, and Apple has not, in my discussions with both.  So I hope, between the two companies, that this problem can be corrected.

    2. after many hours on the phone with Apple Support, through no less than 6 people including 2 senior advisers, NONE OF THEM COULD ANSWER MY QUESTION ON CE WHO IS MAXIMUM ALLOWED HARD DRIVE or RAID SPACE AUTHORIZED BY Yosemite and El Capitan.  For me, THIS IMPORTANT FACT SHOULD SIMPLY BE LISTED IN THE OS SPECIFICATION TECHNIQUE, it's quick and easy to read on the Support Site.  But Apple is the new bureaucracy, they are, I don't see what is happening any time soon.  So, be aware that, for now, HE IS No. LIMIT ON SIZE, as an Apple adviser said; but could not confirm in writing; and, IT IS AN INCORRECT DISPLAY SIZE AND FREE SPACE, if your drive is greater than an unknown 16 + TB in size.  Note that I have 3 other RAIDs that are properly in place showing that 9 TB, TB 12 and 18 to size; but I do not know how the SIZE IS IMPORTANT to ensure that the operating system display it correctly, except for my Drobo TB 40.  So, the bottom line, somewhere between to 18 and 40 to is where he goes wrong, in its display of sizes.

  • I can't say what's on my hard drive and what is in my iCloud

I'm trying to free up hard drive space and storage iCloud added.  Unfortunately, I'm unable to see exactly what is on my hard drive.  I don't have duplication, but to delete almost everything on my hard drive.

    Help?

iCloud is geared towards sharing between devices and is not designed for cloud storage only. Everything you place in iCloud Drive will also keep a copy of your MacBook. You can save possibly reduce the space required on your Mac if you use iCloud photo library by going to the preferences of Photos and turn on "Optimize Mac storage" but which only applies to photos and will be possible only if space is needed.

There are 3 third-party services like Dropbox and OneDrive that have options for cloud storage only.

What is the largest hard drive that will work in a HP Pavilion dv6324us laptop?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01035677.PDF

Support for HARD drives and capacities are listed in Chapter 3, page 3-25.

Personally, I think you could install a SATA II 320 GB to your laptop.  Maybe even a 500 GB.

You could also probably install a drive of 7 200 rpm for better performance or if the battery life between charges is more important for you, then stick with a disk of 5 400 rpm.

My drive HARD broked down. I have to buy a new one. What capacity of the HARD drive will be detected BIOS corectly? How many GB of hard drive I can buy?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

This kind of information can give you just authorized partner. I found the info your device comes with 6 GB of HARD drive. Am I wrong?

I'm sure you can use 10 or even 12 GB of HARD drive without any problem. If you want to use more than capacity, it is possible that it will not be recognized by the BIOS.

I found an offereor which has guaranteed that even at 30 or 40 GB hard drives can be used on older models, but the BIOS should be handled with the special tool and is not for free.

A power saving of operation in which all unnecessary components are closed. Many devices running on batteries, such as laptops, supports a standby mode. When a laptop goes into sleep mode, it stops the screen and hard drive. Once awakened, the computer returns to its previous status of operation.

Yes, the HARD disk stops altogether, but after turning on your laptop, you can continue your work.
Launch multiple applications and use the key combination FN + F3 to mode 'sleep'. After a few minutes, press power button / stop and you will see what happens.

  • What is the large hard drive Satellite A30 supports

Satellite A30-514 P4 2.8 GHz/WXP HE/512 MB / 30 GB/15TFT/DVD-CD-RW. I have the latest bios update and only I can see downloads for this machine. I have a 30 GB drive. I look at the model 100 GB or 80 GB. This model supports these formats. Some of these new hitachi drives have also a ata supplys data cable and power. Someone know if this laptop supports this connection or are these two cables. As I have yet a glance. Any advice on what type of player to use will be much appreciated.

    Hi Mike,.

I have a 80 GB hard drive in my A30 at the moment. You will need a player with similar physical dimensions as your drive existing. Cables are not a problem because the drive on the A30 is connected directly to a connector under the optical drive (this should be removed first to access the hard drive.

An appropriate drive would be the MK8025GAS but you could also take the option to use a car with a higher rotation speed. The original drive is 4200 RPM and I am currently using a version of 5400 RPM in my A30. There is a little extra heat, but this is really noticeable during heavy disk activity (anti-virus, Defrag, backup, etc.).

    Kind regards

  • Size of the problems after the system partition resizing - are X 201 hard drives using a particular geometry?

I recently copied my default system hard disk (320 GB / Western Digital) on a larger hard drive (500 GB / Hitachi) which I also ordered through Lenovo.

Using a disk imager I first copied the old 1:1 the new disk drive. It gave me an exact copy of my original disk, with about 150 GB of space disk unallocated at the end of the training. I then put this copy in the system and it worked very well, I could start and work at it.

-With the help of Acronis Disk Director 11 - I moved the hidden partition Lenovo restore to the end of the new drive, and then finally I expanded the system partition to fill all the available space before this recovery partition, giving me a system about 430 GB drive.

These operation seemed to go very well at everything first, but in the end I got an alert that something had gone wrong and now the disk may be corrupted. Strange, I was able to boot from the disk and everything went well in the beginning but in fact - I now have a very weird problem: when you look in the Panel-online-online disk management management system all partitions are located and that I had the intention of size. The recovery partition (~ 17 GB) is at the end and the system partition is indicated as approximately 430GB and about 60% vacuum. Explorer Windows, however, always reports the size of the old partition (~ 280 GB) and only 10% of empty space, while if there is no resizing the partition space taken.

In other words: different parts of Windows 'see' and report to different partition sizes. Running chkdsk does not resolve the issue.

I then realized this phenomenon in the Acronis Disk Director forum and some guys Acronis replied, that problems of resizing and therefore also the difference could be due to the fact that IBM/Lenovo uses a geometry to non-standard head of 240 heads instead of 255 heads. ????  I then asked for details and - if possible - instructions - how we could solve this problem, but got no further response so far.

Any idea what he's talking about? Lenovo indeed uses some non-standard disk or geometry? I would have thought, that the access disk is the disk drivers? Lenovo have to do here? Or BIOS of the device involved here?

And finally: has anyone some experience with this problem and can give an idea how to solve this problem? I'd really like to * hate * restart everywhere have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything again!

    Michael

    Thanks for this info!

I'll try to get my wrecked HD using the Paragon suggested partitioning program and I guess, I'll also try to get a refund on DiskDirector 11, since the site explicitly, it is fully ready Windows7, which obviously isn't!

  • Are 3 TB hard drives, more likely to fail earlier that say a 2 TB

My HARD drive failed just after 1,5 years was 3 TB. My friend says that 3 TB are more likely to fail at low capacity HARD drive. Does he know what he's talking about or he speaks right on his butt?

I highly doubt that the standard warranty of 2-3 years (5 years on WD Black and other models of brands 'business') would be offered on 3XL readers if a 1.5 year lifetime was common.

"" More hard drives lasted at least 3 I've heard.".

-Yes! 3 years, at the least.

    "a corrupt sector."

-While the bad sectors are a common cause of HARD drive failure, you can only guess why a HARD drive failed

If a HARD drive can no longer be read/accessible.

Discover - CrystalDiskInfo . It will scan your HARD drive and

warn you of problems on the HARD drive. If all goes well, until they fail (if you run it quite often).

  • What is flooding my hard drive?

I am facing a problem with my computer. I use Windows 8 on a PC HP Pavilion. Over the last few months, something has been dumping files in a temporary file (. C / users/username/AppData/Local/Temp). These files are put in a file labeled with hexadecimal code in brackets {30371D42-8250-4BD8-B8F4-6CD73F91F832}. All files in this folder are labeled the same way with the hex codes in square brackets which is {BA18F667-9F63-467A-90E4-A23C8A3EFBF0}. In these files there as default files, PepperFlash, pnacl, SwiftShader, Extensions, WidevineCDM, GPUCache, etc.. Initially, the amount of data was around 2 GB per day set on my hard drive, now these files will be integrated with about 5 GB per day. It's that affect my computer's performance, slow things down and forcing me to delete large amounts of data on a daily basis. After some research, I discovered that this folder was created when I downloaded some freeware that came with Search protect led. It's a pretty nasty job, and it took me several days to get rid of him. However disc flood continued even after removing the protect research. I tried to disable the indexer of cache, but the flooding continued. I looked through many different forums looking for people with similar questions, but most of the advice look like gibberish to me. I am not competent is to write code so that you might have to walk me through the process, if that's what it takes to solve this problem. I would be very happy to help.

In fact, I managed to find a solution for my problem. The culprit was not protect research (although I'm happy to get rid of it), but another piece of malware labeled i. d. l. e. c. r. a. w. l. e. r., who resided in another temp folder. The discovery process launched by past for the the Task Manager, click on the performance tab, then passes to the option at the bottom of this window open resource monitor. Looking at the log of the disk activity I noticed the folder increasing in question very often appear in the column leader. Under the image column, I found that there was this thing called chrome.exe who created all of the activity. After some research on the chrome.exe image online. I downloaded Security Task Manager, then ran this program who informed me that chrome.exe was associated with the idlecrawler malware. The malware could not be removed, so I had to use Revo Uninstaller to perform a forced uninstall of idlecrawler. I also had to do even forced uninstall research protect for the same reason. The flood of data stopped and my computer runs much better now. I guess I just need to pay attention to all kinds of freeware, that I can be interested in download in the future.

  • What is using my hard drive?

I have an iMac with 500 GB of storage, and when I go on my Mac-> storage, it says that I have 358GB of "Other" and I have no idea what it is. About a year ago, I had about 200 GB of 'Other', and since then I downloaded barely any more things that must use within storage. I record and edit videos much, so I used to have a lot of 'Movies' Ballyhoo to the top of my hard drive, but I just cleaned all my videos, including the library of iMovie and also deleted all my projects iMovie, but who have released all the space at all. I don't know what all these 'Other' stuff, because I do not use iPhotos, iTunes, and I have not all backups. No idea what it could be? Thanks in advance!
