Permissions problem (Urgent)

Well, I'll try not to get the warranty here that I'm under strong frustration right now.

I just finished a 30-minute film I work 8 months of editing, and I'm sending to master. I decided to go with not compressed for the outing, so I had to buy a new external SSD. (Obviously will be not only be used for this) So I went through the routine of export it to my new record, and here's what I got:

Apparently, I was not allowed to share yet, but I like what I'm going to do what he told who was to turn on the permissions in the file. I went to the file and went to permissions and saw this:

My apologies for the little it is, but if you look under sharing and permissions in the left window, you will see that reading and writing is on for me (benson of grants), which is insane, because I can't obviously always save my movie on this disc. Also, on a side note, is not only the traffic, I'm not allowed to do it for anywhere on my computer for some reason not more, it's really confusing, but the disc is the thing that worried me.

It frustrates me a lot, since now, I did nothing to help me solve the problem. I looked around, quite a bit here, but have not really found a whole bunch to work with, I tried to watch "Repair disk permissions", but there is no error message. I'm really retarded to get this movie made, and especially to my friend who is going to be master it, so help would be very appreciated. Thank you!

I'm running FCP 10.2.1

News of the computer:

System: OS 10.10.3

Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB

Storage: 255,2 GB internal SSD flash disk and 512.11 on the outside

I can clarify anything else if necessary.

  • Cannot open pictures (jpg) in Windows 8 after restoring a backup of my old laptop to Windows 7. Permissions problem?

Using a WD 1 TB external hard drive and the WD software, I made a backup of my old computer with the intention of transferring pictures, documents, etc. to my new computer Windows 8.

Files backed up and I restored it selectively records my images on the new computer without error.

When I open the folder my pictures in Windows 8, I see the files but the imprint does not show the picture.  to place an icon for Windows picture something or another watch (purple photo of the mountains).

Images will be open in everything I tried.  Something about a permissions problem.

Any ideas on what I could have done wrong or how to fix the permissions problem, so I can see my photos?

Click on the photos (you can select/highlight all and do it once for each of them at the same time) and go to properties.  On the Security tab, click Advanced, and then change the "owner" for your user account (search in the options that appear).

After you set the owner, click OK until all boxes are saved/closed.  Return to properties again and this time, set yourself to have "total control" on the files. Now you should be able to open and use.

  • Access denied. Permissions problem

    Hi all

I get the dreaded "access denied. "There is error the file may not or there is a permissions problem.

I am the administrator of my site, and we have implemented to use webdav. This error ONLY occurs when someone sends a page to another user for review. Therefore, the examiner is unable to publish the page. She just keeps giving this error.

I tried to delete the folders _mm, locks, etc., but nothing works. Apart from that, I will soon have more than 500 people using Contribute to edit pages, so I won't be able to remove these files and locks all the time.

Anyone has an idea why this might happen? All of my users belong to the same group (www), and everyone has the same permissions of read/write on the server.

    Thank you!

EGAD! Do not remove the _mm folder!

Make sure that your users have access read/change the _mm folder and the MMWIP folder at the root of the site. We had the same problem and does disappear. Temporary files are stored there when you perform a send for review.

  • Permissions problem

    Hello world

I have a problem with permissions to write and read my hard drive on airport Time Capsule.

I can't change the privilege, he tell me that: the operation cannot be performed because you don't have the required permissions.

But I'm the only one using this time Capsule so I am the admin.

What can I do to change the permissions?

    Thank you.

The permissions are a lot more of a problem with El Capitan. You have a computer that still use older BONES?

I recommend that you create the folder from the finder in El Capitan... then use the old computer to move the files to the new folder that you created.

No luck so talk to me... but you cannot fix the permissions on the network drive on El Capo. And it's powerful fussy.

I guess the only way then is to archive the files on USB... so you can plug the drive into your computer, access files, then copy backup.

  • Permissions problems after manual migration of the deleted user

I am the admin of my iMac, although there are a couple of other users. After rising problems with accidents, which does not reinstall OS X, my user account has become so corrupted that Finder would launch is no longer and I was forced to do something drastic. Not wanting to reproduce the problem, I decided to give up Time Machine restore and I have just created a new user for myself and deleted my previous user account, preserving its content.

It turns out that the copy of my user deleted to my new files was not something Apple intention we can do.

I changed the permissions on all the files in the old (deleted) user folder to read and write to my new user and applies this setting to the contents of all folders. However, I was still unable to move the folders in my new user folder - it copied instead. Okay, well, it makes everything more difficult, but I worked through it. Now that the files have been copied to my new user folder and permissions are certainly on my current user (admin), OS X still think that I don't "own" them, i.e., I can't move things and I type my admin password to be able to copy things.

Many Google searches on this issue have turned only complex terminal procedures that I'm not of course are worth risking. I hope that someone here in the infinitely knowledgeable Mac community has a solution for me. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you changed the file property?
If this isn't the case, then you can change the ownership of the file using the chown command in terminal.

Using one of the administrator account on the machine, you can run:

    sudo chown - Rv User1/Users/user3/dir1 /.
(where "user1" will be the user that you want to change the property of and "/ Users/user/dir1 / ' will be the path of the file/directory or file you want to make this change to) [you might be promoted a password if you just enter the password there is no feedback that the password entered]

Once the user has files that you should have no problem moving them to the users directory.

  • Facilities clean and permissions problems

One of the old pieces of advice if you had an insoluble problem of the Mac was to do a clean reinstall / remove and reinstall of the operating system. I wonder if it's still good advice,

I just bought a new Mac Mini running El Capitan and started having problems with it, and the steps of troubleshooting was not using the Migration Wizard, but just manually drag my documents created by the user since the backup disk, Time Machine.

Unfortunately, when I tried, I had problems with terrible permissions with my files, with the Mac, forcing me to enter my password to the user EVERY TIME I tried to move, rename, delete, change, re-register or possibly to copy my files. Of course, it would be a nightmare with thousands of files created over the years.

Unfortunately, when I called Apple support, I got conflicting advice on how to solve the problem. A counselor said I should hang out all my files from my backup of documents directly to the My Documents folder and do the correspondence with the library, Applications, movies, music, Photos, etc., then repair permissions on my HD. Another Advisor gave a totally different view.

I know the permissions is a basic UNIX functionality, but it is something that has always puzzled me. So I was wondering if maybe old advice th to manually restore your files are no longer valid, and if I should just trust the Migration Wizard in the future and hope for the best?

Reset user - file property See post by Linc Davis

You may need to restore the permissions on your user account. To do this, start on your recovery partition (hold down the command and R during startup) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In the Terminal, type: 'resetpassword' (without the), press return, and then select the admin user. You do not have to reset your password. Click the icon of your Mac hard drive at the top. In the list box below, select the user account that has problems. At the bottom of the window, you will see a box labeled restore Home Directory permissions and ACLs. Click the button to reset there. The process takes a few minutes. When you're finished, restart.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. • Wizard permissions problem

I try to install the 4.0 unit (5) in a laboratory for testing environment and have encountered a problem with the permissions wizard. When I try to run it, I get «The permissions of the Cisco Unity Assistant failed to create an organizational unit in the domain...» »

This is a new installation, each to there own virtual server...

DC - Windows 2003 Server Standard

With Exchange 2003 SP1 on Windows 2003 Server Standard

Unit - Windows 2003 Server Standard

I added UnityInstall, UnityAdmin, UnityDirSvc and UnityMsgStoreSvc accounts and placed UnityInstall in the domain admins and have it granted full of administration in Exchange. I also ran ADSchemaSetup successfully. I ran CUSPA on the server of the unit and the completed all requirements. I have also the unity Server patched with only what is stated on the CD after installation 4.0 (5).

    Any ideas what I'm missing?

    HI -.

Please check for this file that makes the State information like permissions wizard is running - pwresults.log. It should be in your c:\documents and settings\\local settings\temp directory. Another good thing to check is the PWDiag.log. You can post the information here. The part of the code it works, when you see that the error is:

    -

    xyz.xyz.com/Unity/Locations

Control of object location Cisco Unity

    -

    1

    Location create ciscoEcsbuUMLocation

Since this is a test server, when you run virtual servers (VMWare or Virtual PC), you could just add the OU to your unity server. Create a new ORGANIZATION OR another under that unit called the places and Unity. Make sure that the accounts of the unit has required permissions, I find this particular reference to 4.0 (3) and 4.0 (4), but should be close - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008022b8c3.html

The unitydirsvc account is one that creates the unit OR and OR locations. It requires:

    1. apply on this object and all child objects

    -Create CiscoEcsbuUMLocation objects

    2. apply on CiscoEcsbuUMLocation objects

    -Full control

Finally, you can validate that the server of the unit said running GPRESULT at the command line. Run this when logged in with the account you use to run the permissions wizard, which should be domain administrator.

I probably have a permissions in my files, I think.  With some programs try to install or uninstall, they identify errors and correspond to the insufficient privileges.  I am admin and the only user on the computer.  I tried this fix http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/when-trying-to-install-wordperfect-x5-getting/bde605b4-609e-4726-8957-fc3f9ca1c819, but it did not work.  I think I have the same kind of problem.

  • The permissions problems win 7 home ed.

I have problems with permissions.  I am registered as an administrator and I have no opportunity to a new folder. When I open the properties of the folder read-only is enabled. I go through the change permissions reboot and still the same issue. Is there a way to delete my account admin? All ideas

More information, I had two accounts for the school and the other with admin under a different account name, I deleted the admin account and made the school admin account since then, the machine manages me.  It seems when watching the permissions under SYSTEM properties, has total control, others, like upstairscomputer (upstairscomputer/hugh) is fully checked for everything except by special leave. SYSTEM does not have special permissions. At the root of c:\ in properties, all individuals and groups have allow all verified. More info, when in the Properties dialog box and click Advanced to see the permissions and inheritance my people and groups are not inherited

More information, when I start a program if I right click the icon of program a dialog box is displayed and there is a shield icon - run as administrator by clicking on which will allow IE working correctly.

This helped or do you need more?

    Thank you very much

    Hugh

Hugh, there is another aspect to this. The mentioned sequence. Specifically, delete the Admin account, it was 'Administrator' or a profile defined with administrator privileges? The 'Administrator' account is provided by the system; and should be left there, with a password, but is not visible.

Anyway, when the other profile has been deleted, it seems to have taken the cascade of permissions with it. Specifically, he noted that the record no longer appears to inherit permissions from the parent. If this is the case, I would follow the string upwards, to see where occurs the first permission inheritance; see what are the settings and make sure that the main folder (C:\) inherits its permissions from the same point (assuming that no other areas of the player doesn't prevent you from creating folders). Then, when the file is updated to inherit permissions, make sure cascading changes to subfolders (check the box that tells you to do it for all the folders/files in the folder).

There are a couple of areas if that can cause a roadblock to this:

    (1) is the profile used to do this, really an Admin profile? It can be considered as such, but I'll make sure that it is using the function 'Manage' found when right click on the 'computer '. If you are prompted to enter a password for the Admin can not access all the functions in 'Manage', the profile can not be set as admin.

    (2) if there is different levels of permissions applied to sub-sub-sub-folders/files of the main folder, then, the messages are likely to be issued indicating the appropriate authority for this action is necessary. Follow the steps, and it should help you out. If this isn't the case, then the profile used to do this, maybe not all the necessary permissions.

I hope that gives an idea and help your thoughts on how to proceed.

I have a server and three customers.  The server is running Centos, and clients are windows 7.  There is a samba share on the server that is accessible to all.  There are others who are private.

    Customer B

    Customer C

So customer A copy a public folder windows PC windows to the shared folder on the server.  A customers, the B, the C all have access in reading, but only the client has write access.  I put in samba

    create mask = 777

but when client B accesses a folder on the server that was placed there since the client computer A, they can't change or bring new files.

Any help with permissions and to get the public to allow the A B C folder share and edit each other files on the server.

  • Strange NFS permissions problem

    Hi all

We have a vsphere English 3 server essentials most updated, with an iSCSI Equallogic SAN and a Netapp FAS2020 holding an NFS volume.

The Netapp is older, so it does not take our critical data, we usually deploy something new on it to test and them he move to the Equallogic.

This time we just finished a new project a few days ago and had not moved out the Netapp data even when we had a problem.

We have been doing some maintenance switch yesterday and blew a breeze, causing the Netapp to power off. When he returned to the top, the virtual machine on it doesn't work.

    I get this error:

An error was received from the ESX host turning on VM GR-VidyoGateway.

Cannot create the file ' / vmfs/volumes/7598db61-d9422e03/GR-VidyoGateway/vmx-GR-VidyoGateway-1219306367-1.vswp ': Permission denied

Not able to start VMX: msg.vmk.status.VMK_NO_ACCESS

Watch the virtual machine vmware.log file. Nothing in it since the power blip. I tried to restart the virtual machine, so there should be something in the newspaper, but there is nothing new (+ 24 hours later).

I can browse the store of data without problem and can copy some files to the virtual computer out of it, but others, like the vmdk, give an error. Also, I can not data to the Equallogic, same question of vMotion. Also, I can not create any new files/folders on the data store, it feels like she is read-only, but I don't know where that would have occurred.

Here is a list of the directory:

Note the permissions are different on some files. I tried chmod 644 them but get access denied.

I tried to copy the files from the console/cli to esxi, but get access denied.

I mapped the NFS share on a Windows machine and receive the same access denied error on these files (even once a copy OK, but not the VMDK)

On the NetApp. This is what looks like the export:

    / flight/vol0/Home - sec = sys, rw, nosuid

    / flight/vol0 s = sys, rw, anon = 0, nosuid

    / flight/vol1 s = sys, rw, nosuid

We use the export of flight/vol1.

If I maps to one of the other exports above, I can create and delete files very well, so it's just the one that was in use that has a problem.

I'm not sure what it takes, anyone have any ideas?

To follow up, I was able to fix this by opening on the Netapp filerview and giving the host esxi 'root' access to intellectual property. I don't know why RW wasn't enough, but with the root, I could get get the data off the coast, as well as burn it again.

Caps folder contains the database as Cache.db, media, db, pdb.db file that contains information about the installation of applications on the system and other essential data, in some cases if the files are corrupt, it is essential to remove the record of caps.

Once you remove the record of caps, CC app will list Apps with button install because there is no information concerning the installation of the CC apps because the Media.db file will be deleted with it.

In this case, it is preferable that you uninstall applications that is not listed as up to Date and being listed with button install, even if it is already installed.

  • VirtualCenter permissions problem

Hello, hoping to help on this one. The previous administrator left me in a bit of a dead end.

For a folder in virtualcenter, he attributed the role of 'Access forbidden' to the local group "users". He intends to prevent the non-administrateurs to access this folder, but also to apply deny to the user 'administrator '. For now, the solution is to connect to individual ESX servers as root and manually controlling virtual machines, but it's not ideal. Can I somehow replace this refusal of permission (even if it's a refusal on the administrator account so I have no idea how worsen even more privileges...)?

Is it possible to remove a refusal of permission on the local administrator manually account?

I was wrong in my initial description. It is not a record but two

Virtual machines that I can't access. I can see the record very well, but he has two

Virtual machines in that I can't reach because they have no access to

    the user group.

    Hello

You can connect to the CR with the VirtualCenter Administrator role? If this isn't the case, then you will not do much in the way of change.  If you have a good DBA, you could change the roles and permissions of the database of VC table and remove the role of non-accessible from anywhere in to the users group and then once you restart VC you should be able to login as administrator.

Another option is to reinstall VC using a new database. That will also fix the problem.

If you can get as a virtual Center administrator you can remove users from the role entry. Create a new group named 'VI Admins' add the appropriate users to that group may understand the Local Administrator and only explicitly authorize this access group. If you explicitly allow a group all other groups are denied. There is no need to explicitly deny users if you set allow permanent... It's "then leave refuse" i.e. white lists.
