  • HP EliteBook 850 G1 - Win Pro - Computrace conflict with HP Client Security Manager 8.1 8.1

    Hello

I tried to install the software HP Computrace (International) SP64143 c. 8.3.0.5 (November 12, 2013) on my G1 of 850 EliteBook after upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro, but I get the following error:

"The security application can be installed up to what the HP Client Security Manager 8.1 is installed"

Please note that I do not installed the Hp Client Security Package Manager and some other similar programs appear to be installed.

What is this supposed to do? Give access to the function of Lojack (the new name Computrace)? I also wonder if it would be a relevant problem to activate the service of Absolute Software Lojack.

    Help, please... Thank you

Caramel thanks for pointing me in the right direction to achieve the final solution!

After a few experiences, it's my final conclusion: HP distributes two different service packs that have the same:

    • name SP64339.exe
    • version (8.3.1.1714 (November 20, 2013) and)
    • Description on the web page (HP Client Manager Security)

but * ILS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME CONTENT AND APPLICATIONS *. If access you the link you gave me:

#1: a system Win Pro 8, the HP Server allow you to download a file that has:

#2: a Win 8.1 Pro system, the HP Server allow you to download a file that has:

    • No Description of file
    • File version: 4.0.100.1189
    • Size 90.6 MB
    • This corresponds to the HP SimplePass application created by Softex Inc., a very basic site password Program Manager.

Just after installation on the OS Win 8 Pro the CSM HP put implemented by Digital Persona Inc., I was also able to install the Computrace patch (SP64143.exe) smoothly. It is a distinct and different from the SP64339 SP and it allows to Absolute Software access to the features of the Intel anti-theft technology.

Please note that this give HP CSM access you the function of connection of fingerprints and others.

The problem that I saw earlier, it is that in Win 8.1 Pro is due to the fact that the SimplePass application does not support the Computrace agent. so I tried to install on my Elitebook with Win 8.1 Pro the SP64339 even system 850 downloaded previously using a HD different mounting an OS Win 8 Pro and... here, everything seems to install and works great even on Win 8.1 Pro.

    The main question are:

    1. why HP did end with the distribution of their security HP Client Manager?

2 what problems is I meet on Win 8.1 Pro with the Security HP Client Manager designed for Windows 8 Pro?

I suppose I could run into some problem if I change the pwd of my login, even if outllok.com... Web site it would generate a disallignment on the connection of access controlled, managed by the CSM from HP on my PC...

Thanks a lot again for your GREAT help!

    Hello!
Thanks for posting in the HP support forum!

8.1 Microsoft Windows (although very good and big update ) is still in BETA (testing) phase and is not officially supported.

Windows has features upgrade analysis and that it has detected that HP ProtectTools are not (yet) compatible with the new operating system (new update) - still in test.

Note that this OS is still in beta and may contain bugs. In addition, he brings a few changes that any other 3rd party suppliers must take into account and it will take a while until the program is compatible.

I recommend - if you want to test the new operating system, install fresh on another computer to test (processing Edition), not a production machine. Otherwise, for your laptops of business - use only the final versions of the software (such as Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8).

Let me know if I can help you further!

Please, take into consideration my location (Europe) and time zones. I'll try to give the answer as soon as possible.

  • HP Client Security Manager 8.3.1.1714

Requested HP to update for HP customer Security Manager 8.3, the program has been installed. Since then, there no password more in the password manager. And the Password Manager icon only shows more in internet explore.

I mainly work with IDS of fingerprints.

Is it possible to recover the passwords? Or how to make the icon appears again, so I can rebuild the database for various Web sites, I need to log in?

Problem is solved. Uninstalled HP security Manager 8.3.1.1714 and all software. Reinstalled version 8.1 an everything worked OK. Even passwords, fingerprints,... are always present and active. So I continue with version 8.1.

Version 8.3 is compatible with 8.1?

  • Personal security, Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

My old laptop [son computer] has a program on this subject called Says 'Personal security', it was installed 12/09/09.  He is tied to the computer.  It displays the my system is endangered and wants me to pay for the activation of the program.

When I go to try to remove, it takes me to the program and told me to pay for activation.

    The Details of the uninstall/change application tab shows: Microsoft Windows {FCC74B77-EC3E-4DD8-A80B-008A702075A9}

There is no way [I thought] to get a phone number or other means of communicating with the departure of this program.

If I could find the path and where the program is, perhaps I could manually delete.  However, the program is only in the status bar at the bottom of my screen and give options: * computer * Update * settings & * help.  Aid will not be a link to a Web page.  Settings taken me to a screen with many options of all that lead to pay for activation.
