phags-pa fonts

I need a special font for a project of mine - I downloaded the BabelStone police and he shows all the signs in the font tool... but I can't use it...

Suggestions - cause it makes me a little nuts!

To insert a script like Phags Pa, you must use the character Viewer (Ediit > Emoji and symbols).  Go to the gear wheel at the top left and select Customize and adds Unicode to the list.  Inside the Unicode, you will find Phags Pa from A840.  Double click or drag and drop at the entrance.

If you have any problems, let us know what application you are using, and what exactly does not work.

  • Font managers of the RAM and fonts

    Hi all

I feel that the ability to enable and disable individual fonts using font (font book or third party) management software is designed to eliminate RAM memory (or at least somehow the unloading of the treatment of the Mac).

I also believe I read that he mentioned somewhere that all fonts placed in the user/Library/Fonts location are always active in the RAM, and this is perhaps why it is important to not just throw hundreds of fonts in this folder.

    I wonder:

    -If above are true?

-If you use third-party font management software to disable a font placed in the folder User/Library/Fonts eliminates actually he RAM memory (as is probably for policies outside the system of appointed police records)?

-If none of this is true, then why even should we use font management software to disable or deactivate fonts - why not just let them all turned on if they are not in the RAM?

I want to make sure that I fully understand. I hope that this will help me make more informed decisions about my workflow of font management.

I'm under El Capitan 10.11.6, although I don't think that this specificity is relevant.

    Thanks for the informed answers!

I don't think you are quite correct, I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong but here is my assessment of the situation...

All installed or active policies are not loaded in RAM at startup because it would be than a useless on memory limited to Macs. System fonts will be loaded into memory as they are usually required.

I believe that certain police functions get cached, such as previews of the fonts that are used in some applications, these selection committees are often written cache files stored on the drive that I can tell.

Installation and activation of the thousands of fonts may cause some problems as apps may need to generate previews of these fonts - for example MS Word has its own custom selector of fonts that use the real font for names selection. Some design apps can analyze or search fonts when opening certain documents with the related font styles. Other applications such as TextEdit, Mail system use based Gatherer so that they benefit the plan puts large fonts in cache.

The reason of FontBook is to assist in the management of fonts. OS X uses the 'library' system to allow multiple levels of abstraction, by example/System/Library is for OS-level files (stuff own apples), / library of the third parties who rely on the scale of the support system, ~/Library for user specific files. There is even in charge of resources to be stored in/Network/Library for use with a server on a WAN.

Manage all this complex without a central application. In my view, that order preference is the user on the highest levels, so your own user fonts folder is selected on the system if you named the same way fonts. Part of the idea is also that you can export fonts in your own home library without affecting the other users of the system.

Third parties also have police managers this attempt to 'do the right thing' based on what documents and applications you use. These are for most major design offices that use custom fonts or is needed to deal with versions of specific fonts, variations and even if the fonts are licenses for specific customers etc.. Fonts dynamically loading & unloading can cause headaches depending on what software you use.

I do not think that average users need to think about fonts on OS X (beyond adding their favorites occasionally), you may be overthinking it unless you're in lots of design work.

If you are concerned about running out of RAM, you probably need to install more, get a better Mac or run applications less. Just keep in mind what OS X tent now to use all the RAM available most of the time if not what is the point of installing it?

  • IOS10 FONT size of email problems

Resizing fonts in email threads has always been consistent with IOS9. Not with IOS10. In fact, the police is smaller and makes it difficult to read if you are visually impaired. This is not an improvement, and I was very happy with IOS9. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Hello and welcome to Apple support communities, BryanCBT.

If I understand your message to the right, the font size of the e-mail messages in your mail app is too small, and you have trouble reading. I am happy to help you with a solution for this then you can start to take advantage of Mail in iOS 10.

You can actually very easily change the font on your iPhone in settings > brightness and view > text size. If you need even larger font sizes, you can do it in the accessibility settings. Here are the steps:

    Larger font

    1. Go to settings > general > accessibility > bigger text (or more big Type of iOS 7).
    2. Turn on the accessibility of size (or more big dynamic Type in iOS 7) for larger font options.
    3. Drag the cursor to select the desired font size.

Turn on the other accessibility settings

Go to settings > general > accessibility to make the "BOLD" text, increase the contrast or invert the colors on your screen.

Change the font size on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

There are also a few additional accessibility features available for the needs of the vision. You can view all here:iOS. A wide range of features for a wide range of needs.

  • Problem with some fonts of symbols after the installation of the Sierra

    Hello

I have recently upgraded the OS on my iMac late 2012 for Sierra, since doing so, I noticed a problem with several fonts.

All symbolic symbols Apple to Wingdings fonts not correctly displayed in the font book. Apple symbols looks like a standard wheelbase of san, and other symbolic fonts just show as question marks '?' where the images should be.

In text editing, that I can't even see the symbolic fonts like Zapf Dingbats and Wingdings in the selector. However, they all work well in Adobe Illustrator (CS5) and Microsoft Word 2011. Apple symbols still looks like a standard font.

    I already tried the following:

    1. check the fonts in font book

2 fix the duplicates in the font book

    3. using the "Restore Standard fonts" option in the font book

4 deleting a file in the folder Preferences plist Fonts

5 deleted the cache of police and the database

I'm out of ideas. Has anyone else had the same problem found a fix?

    Kind regards

    Greville

I'm just to add that I used the recovery partition to do a clean install of Sierra on a hard drive external and then booted into it to see if it had the same problem.

And he does. Wingdings and other photo fonts appear as '?' in boxes where the letters must be in the font book.

So this seems like a problem with the way Sierra displays these fonts, not with the font files themselves.

  • 'serious error' message when trying to install a .ttf font?

    Hi all

    I've got El Capitan 10.11.6

I'm trying to install a true type font, using the default method.  In the window 'Validation of police', it says: "1 a mistake detected. Do not use this font.

What is the problem? There is nothing wrong with the police.

I searched the forums, etc... but could not find a solution?

There is a button that says: 'install verified', I'm tempted to click, because I need the police ASAP.

But I'm afraid to mess up my computer? (iMac)

    Please help, thanks!

If he says there is a problem with the police, it probably is!

What is a paid police or a free one? If you have paid for it, you must contact the seller.

If a free, can you tell us what and where you downloaded it? I might try and see if I get the same result.

  • Is it possible to increase the font size on web pages? I can increase the size of the page but then lose the ability to see the entire page.

I've just updated El Capitan, but the font size on web pages went all teeny weeny.

I was wondering if we could increase the font size? The page can expand via "zoom in", but then lose the ability to view the web page in the blink of an eye.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes.  Open the Terminal app and type the following command followed by the Enter key or return:

    : write com.apple.Safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2MinimumFontSize - int XX

(triple click on the line to select it to copy and paste into the Terminal application).

Change the XX to the font size you want as the minimum font by default.

Or you can use a css style sheet.  This site describes it and the Terminal method: specify Minimum font size in Safari 10.0, macOS Sierra

  • Fonts by email

The 10.0.2 update caused all my emails to be in lowercase characters.  I tried to change the fonts for accessibility, but it doesn't do anything in the email.  I must really be able to SEE an email! All the stuff on who sent it and all threads that turned off do not seem to help.

The same thing happened this morning after downloading 10.0.2 from one day to the next. And Ditto for what you did to try to remedy.

  • Incompatible font size.

    Hey guys,.

I'm 10.0.2 on an iPhone IOS 7 more. The strangest thing happens... when I go to Contacts > (person in contacts) > change > list of incompatible randomly watch sizing police ring tones.

This error does not occur in the list "settings > sounds and haptic > ringtones.

I have attached a picture and highlights the different font size to display errors. Did anyone else encounter this problem or know a way to fix it?

I just checked it on my phone and I see the same thing. Very temporarily fixed (while this isn't a convenient temporary solution) leaving the Contacts application and immediately by going to settings > brightness and view > text size, change the size and returning then immediately to the Contacts application. Update the fonts and all options are the same size, but as soon as you press Cancel and return to a ring tone, it will be inconsistent again.

  • New shortcut Tab identical to display fonts

Trying to open new tabs in the Mail application.  The shortcut that is supposed to work anywhere - order T - is the same shortcut as display fonts so that it always opens the window fonts.  What shortcut should we use in Mail if we want a new tab?

Tabs Mail is quite like tabs in Safari. My humble opinion calling tabs is a bit misleading.

Expand the Mail in full screen (move the pointer to the upper left corner of the display of the messages and click full screen), and then do one of the following:

    • Start a new message: In the Viewer, click the new Message button; the message slides up from the bottom of the screen so you can address and write your message. To start and work on additional messages at the same time, choose file > new, or press Command-N. Each new message is in its own tab; Click on a tab to work on the message. To close all tabs except the one you work, Option + click the button close tab, you are in.
    • Show the Viewer: Click anywhere in the message viewer, outside your message; messages that you are working on the slide to the bottom of the screen. Use the Viewer to read the messages you receive, search for messagesand more. To return to your message, click on the tab at the bottom of the screen.
    • Send a message: Click on the button send in the toolbar of the message; If you work on multiple messages, be sure to first, click the tab that you want to send.
    • Record a message to project: Click the close button in the toolbar of the message (or the close button on the tab message, if you have several open drafts), and then click Save. If you work on multiple messages, you are prompted if you want to save each of them.
    • Open a message from project: Select project message in the message viewer, move the pointer to the top of the screen, and choose file > open Message. If you work on multiple messages, a new tab is added to the project that you opened.

To stop working with e-mail in mode full screen, move the pointer to the top left corner of the screen, and then click the full screen output .

  • Safari 10: too small font size

After the installation of Safari 10.0 this morning, nothing is as it used to be - printing on most websites is too small for me to read. The option to adjust the size to a minimum size by default in the Preferences window has disappeared; pages can be enlarged in 125, 150% etc but not what I want.

I no has not upgraded to the latest version of Safari to end up reading texts too small they are printed on stamps!

Do these guys at apple all this walk with a watchmakers eyepiece? All solutions (style sheets?)?

There are a number of discussions on this issue with your same concern. I agree, the issue of font size is really bad and the zoom function is NOT a way to solve this problem. As others have suggested sending back to Apple is a way of approaching the question with the hope that they give the choice of font size in preferences rather than this impassable zoom feature.

  • font size of text

All of a sudden my fonts are too small. Facebook, Web sites, etc. Don't know how to solve this problem.

    Hey Carol,.

Thank you for being a part of the communities of Apple Support.

If your fonts are displayed too small in Safari, then you can increase the size by following these steps:

Expand content for all Web pages: choose Safari > Preferences, click Advanced, then click on the drop down the Page Zoom and choose a percentage

    Zoom in on Web pages

Now if this happens in multiple applications on your Mac, then the display resolution could have been changed.  Discover your options as follows:

OS X El Capitan: set the resolution of your screen

    Take care.

  • Font size in safari

Download Safari 10.0 and os 10.12 size police and the darkness of the police do I have very difficult for me to see.  Is there a way to change this?

There are already a number of threads on this after a day with Safari 10. This is a real problem. The Zoom feature ISN'T as the font size. I just dropped pages were illegible and pensioners via Time Machine my old system will avoid Mac Sierra until this is changed.
