Photo gallery tags backup?

Is it possible to backup photo gallery tags?  I have thousands of tags and I don't want to lose the chance

Hi Subsailor 1981,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

Which version of Windows Vista is installed on your computer?

All tags that you provide as People tags added after recognition of face or side etc all stars becomes part of the photo itself. They are saved as metadata as well as photography. So if you copy a picture and open in another computer with Windows Live Photo Gallery, these tags appear there also. If all tag data are saved with the photo.

I suggest you to install the latest Windows Live Photo Gallery and open the photos you tag and check.

I'm trying to manage my photos already imported and downloaded on my computer.  There is a master "All photos and videos" folder in the Windows Photo Gallery all in the top left of this program.  Below that is a folder "Images".  Below that are "Tags" with a certain number of 'labelled' folders below.  Lower in another main 'Images' folder with a folder of the yellow file beside him icon.  Here's this file, a number of other folder also named with the file yellow folder icon next to them as well.

What I'm trying to do is manage all these photos and who want to keep a copy of an image in one of the folders of images with an icon of yellow folder next to him.  However, if I delete an image from anywhere in one of the places mentioned above, no matter which, a copy or copies of the image lies, the given image and all copies in one of the other place listed in the first subparagraph above are deleted and this specific photo is present ONLY in the recycling bin.

    Hi EKahn,

When you delete a file from the library, you do not your computer delete it. If you delete a folder, photo library no longer displays images and videos that were in that folder, although the file remains on your computer.

You can remove the folders that you have added to the Gallery of photos at any time, but you cannot remove files that are in the default Photo Gallery. Remove a folder prevents him from appearing in the photo gallery. If you delete a photo, it is deleted from your computer as if you deleted the images folder.

In later versions of Windows Live Photo Gallery...

  • photo gallery tags

When I'm on Windows Vista, I had a photo gallery in which photos could be marked with keywords that allowed me to find a photo with a particular topic easily.  My PC has been replaced by another using Windows 7.  All my data from the old PC files were reloaded on another, but I cannot now find the photo gallery or one of the tags that I have worked so long to create.  What happened to him?

Click the blue file at the top left,

    Click Options,

Check the box for the tags, in the section of the Navigation pane down.

  • Sharing tags in Photo Gallery

I use Windows Phoro Gallery in Vista.  All users on this pc access pictures located in the public folder, but "tags" used to organize them are not common/shared between users. I have the looks that every user must define its own tags (?), how could I change this setting.

Complex issue... but I'll try to offer some ideas.

Data that cannot be rewritten on the photo files are archived in the
Windows Live Photo Gallery database owner (Pictures.pd5).
So... move the files may prevent access to the data.

If you move the files to another computer, you may have some
moviing success the Pictures.pd5 file also.

Sometimes data are not written back to the image files, because they
are read only... and sometimes it's because of the file format.

  • In Lightroom 6 and Windows Live Photo Gallery people tags

I think I'm finally ready for WLPG lightroom for photo management. I used LR for a long time to make the changes but people tags are huge and kept all my photo in WLPG management. I have 100 photos organized k and they are all marked in WLPG people. I just started the trial LR6 and noticed that it is not honor people WLPG existing tags. Is it possible to import / to avoid making people for 100 k photos tags? Who will simply not happen.

Aside - people tags and coordinates with outputs export JPGs of LR6 (assuming that I do not intentionally disable them export), correct?

Here is the solution for the tags in face of windows to Lightroom for me photo gallery. Don't forget to back up your files.

    Back up your files *.

Step 1: Mopve the names of persons and the rectangles for people in a different field in the metadata of .jpg

    Download Exiftool

I executed the command below to the command prompt and in the folder with exiftool and the configuration file found from the link below:

    exiftool.exe - config ExifTool_config_convert_regions '-regioninfo.

"nom_de_dossier" is the folder / path that you want to change to. m does not take into account the minor errors, - r contains subfolders, - crush... means he will NOT create the backup by default if not for each change of the file (filename.jpg_original).

Copy face tags Windows Photo Gallery for Google Picasa

Step 2: Move the names of people to key words for Lightroom. To do this, if you use lightroom, do not if you use picassa. I have not been able to verify, but I guess I'll have to "convert a person tag" in lightroom keywords since they show that descriptive labels, but I tried everything.

Add the names of people using keywords

    ExifTool "-xmp:subject + '.

Where FolderName is the folder / path the photos that you want to change are in

  • Remove the tags in Windows Photo Gallery

This question is about the photo gallery Windows on a Vista operating system. My question is about the drop-down auto-liste of tags that grows each time you enter a new tag. Handy if you want to use something you've used before but a nuisance if you want to erase it. I figured out how to remove tags on the pictures still on the computer. My question is about the images that have been deleted and is not recoverable. There is always this tag leftover junk that applied to these photos that I deleted. appears whenever you try to add a new tag and resists all efforts to remove it. I contacted gateway computer people since they installed the operating system and got the solutions really wild just to remove the unnecessary tags. I thought that everything you enter, you should be able to delete... just... but this has proved to be a great puzzle. I hate to have to do a restore to original factory specifications and lose everything I've added to this day to get rid of these pesky tags. In addition, it simply repeats the problem unless I have find how to remove the little monsters.

    I hope someone can help...

    Hi Jo,.

It's a good thing to be careful when you edit the registry.  In your case, as the registry key seems to be very specific to the Windows Photo Gallery, we can export the folder safely we are change.  Be sure to close the Windows Photo Gallery before you start.

    • Click the ball to Start .
    • Type regedit in the box start the search.
    • Navigate through the folders on the left at the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Gallery\Library\PreviewPane\LabelAssignment\MRU photo

    • Right click on the folder MRU in the left hand window and choose export.
    • Give it a file name (no matter what you name it) and save to the desktop.
    • In the right window, you will see keys named MRU00, MRU02, MRU03 etc...
    • Right-click on these keys and click on delete.

Once you are finished, close the registry editor by clicking the x in the upper right and restart your computer.  When she returns to the top, open the Windows Photo Gallery and see if the tags are gone.

If you receive errors of ANY opening of photo gallery, simply, do a right click on the file that you have already saved on the desktop and choose Import.  That will undo any changes that we have made.

Please let me know if that helps.

  • Tags in Windows vista and Windows Photo Gallery

I recently lost the ability to open Windows photo gallery using the desktop icon and therefore cannot organize my photos using tags.  Is it possible to restore this function?  I can access the Gallery from the extracts of 'my photos', but only in the case of date format.

  • How can I get the tags on the Windows Photo Gallery to attach the photo file?

In the past, I had problems with the tags disappear as if by magic of my photos after many hours of their entry.  A few years ago I tried, as a measure of precaution, to make the files read-only and eliminate a bunch of change permissions, thinking that might prevent data disappear.  (FYI: it didn't.)  Anyway, recently I have been seized all the tags through the Windows Photo Gallery (mistake #1).  Only problem was, I don't remember I had changed permissions (error #2).  I have since reset the permissions, but now I have a bunch of pictures with labels WPG, but not in the files themselves, and I know from experience that it will be a mistake to keep it like that.

So the question is this: How can I transfer the WPG tags only to the photo files themselves?  (Please tell me that there is an easy way...)

  • Windows Live Photo Gallery - how to increase the limit of tag 1010 people on the search function

The search function in Windows Live Photo Gallery people tags seems to be an arbitrary limit of 1010 different tags (1000 in the alphabetical list + the 'Top 10'). Is there a way to get around this?

When I used the Vista Photo Gallery and my tags 'people' were just a subset of 'descriptive' tags that I created, I could find just a name on the left panel. Not sure why it isn't a section he tags in the version of Windows Live people. If you put arbitrary limitations on the functionality of Visual search 'whizz bang', it would be nice if there was a relief when it does not work.
Is return to the starting point - maybe somewhere where the limit is stored in the registry and it can be increased or an another workaround?

  • How to remove the history of tag list box in Windows Photo Gallery

Photo Gallery maintains a list of every tag I used.  I don't have these old tags more and I would like to clear them from the zone drop-down list to the right of the screen, but I can't find an option delete by clicking right or any other way.  How can I do this?

    Hi sailorsteve,

To clear the tag suggestions, follow the steps mentioned below:

Important:- This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756

    1. close Windows Photo Gallery.

    2. go to start | Run | type regedit and press ENTER. (On Vista you will be prompted by the user account control dialog box if you have not logged as local administrator.)

    3. in the search for the Publisher of the registry at this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\Library\PreviewPane\LabelAssignment\MRU

4 in the pane, you should see the list of tags that appear in the auto-suggest list.  You remove the (s) you want.

    5. When you are finished, close the registry editor and open Photo Gallery.

Note: Make this manual workaround solution does not remove the actual Tags of files or the database of the library.  So, even if you delete all the items in this list from this registry location, your actual tags remain intact.  Only, this clears the auto-suggest list.
