Photo of sorting in the Sierra

I recently returned from a trip and imported my photos in Photos. They are a mixture of photos from iPhone and my camera, but I have synced the time on both, they would then be in the correct order once mixed between them.  Because I was in the mountains, some photos have a geographical location, embedded, and others do not.

However, in the Photos, it does not seem to be a way to sort everything by time. It is all the photos with the news of geographic location as a moment of consolidation, then showing those without much later in the order. This applies even to try to sort "Oldest first" album. The result is very disjointed and confusing, as photos taken seconds apart on the same subject appear nowhere near each other in the album sorted.

Other than the manual update of hundreds of photos with an approximate location, or stripping all its location data, is there a way to get around this?

Make a user photo album - either a standard album or smart album (smart album for pictures between certain dates is probably logical) and you can then sort by date/time, ascending or descending or title album (menu display == > sorting)

Thanks for the help in advance

The albums predefined in the Photos on a Mac are sorted differently, in order to have different ways to access your photos.

    • The sight of Photos with Moments and Collections is sorted by the date of Capture.
    • The album 'All the Photos' is sorted by the date that you imported photos, not dates, that the photos were taken.

Albums that you set yourself can be sorted by title or date of capture. So you can set your own album "my photo all ' as a smart album (file > new Smart Album) by using a rule 'Date's after... ', for example:

This smart album will contain took all the pictures taken since January 1, 1000 and can by sorted according to the date of capture.

  • iCloud, shared Photo Gallery sort order

    Hello

I have a little trouble with the albums shared on iCloud.

When I upload photos to the shared album it seems to put the photos in order that she loves rather than the order in which I chose at random.

Is there a reason for this or is there a way to manually sort photos?

Photos are sorted in the order they are added to the shared album. If you add a bunch at once, although they cannot go in the order you think they should. Make them one by one to get the order you want.

  • Photos sort by date in the Sierra

I'm working on a shared Album. I have my own pictures and photos posted by someone else in the shared Album. I imported the photos of the other person, so I can change them.

I want to sort pictures by time and date taken. The only 'option' is 'keep sorted by oldest Date added '. Option is in quotes because it is grayed out and there are no other options.

    MacBook Pro. Sierra.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

There is no other options with shared albums - they are only sorted by the date, the photos are added to the album

  • will be supported traditional faces in photos of the sierra

Anyone know if the work done on the photos to supplement the data of faces is supported in the Sierra of OSX. I have over 12000 photos tagged with faces and I can't wait to know if Apple will simply get rid of my current data and replace it with their new way to find people?

    Thank you

As soon as Apple launches Sierra can someone check it for you and let you know. Until the moment, those who are running Sierra are under a non-disclosure agreement and cannot say anything about it.

  • Upgrade of the Sierra: where are my pictures!

Well, I see that a lot of people have this problem but have yet to find an answer to the problem anywhere.  My patience is lost, I despise the fact that I have * money on shit Apple but I need to find my photos.  Stupidly, I'm fallen for Apple BS again and "upgraded" in the Sierra.  Now all my photos and the Organization, that I spent a year are no longer accessible by something else as well as the new 'Photos '.  I never had iPhoto first, never used.  Each thread simple discussion I can find guard speaks of iPhoto and animated for the Photos news images.  I can see the picture files, but all my organization has disappeared; and I can't access my photos of any other application EXCEPT Photos!  If I could find an Apple exec I would slam their face until they cried!

Someone has a REAL solution to get my photos and the Organization in the way it was before this stupid OS Sierra update?

    < re-titled by host >

I think you should be able to find your photos here ~/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary.

Presumably, you could also restore your library and its organization of your backup so that you can continue to use any photo library program you usually use.

  • Missing thumbnails in 2 pictures on the Sierra

Hi all! After the search for photos by date, I noticed that a big piece of my photo library is without vignettes. This is after the 2 pictures on the Sierra of the OS. I already tried to repair the library usage.

Sorry, I'm not about to open individually 40 000 photos, so I can fix the thumbnails.

    Apple, fix!

I think this is my most photo library of 40 k takes just to always update, but it has been almost a week already. To make things even better, the update dialog box leave not the slightest idea of how much time is remaining.

  • Import iPhoto Library after upgrade of the Sierra

I upgraded to Sierra and now try to import some of my photos from iPhoto library that I had saved to Time Machine. The Photos App says 'nothing to import' - everyone has figured this out? Thank you!

Belongs to the iPhoto Library always Time Machine backup?

Can restore to a different drive. You cannot migrate the library as part of a Time Machine backup or a disk Time Machine.

To migrate the iPhoto for photo library, drag the Photos icon in the Dock or launch Photos while holding down the button options. That will bring up a panel of library selector. Now select the iPhoto in restored library.

The Photos App says 'nothing to import' - everyone has figured this out? Thank you!

Photos cannot import libraries and merge them into existing libraries. He can't open a library to create a library of Photos converted.

If you already have a library of Photos, read the help page on how to switch between several libraries of Photos:

  • Is it possible to change the new ugly background when I wake my iMac to sleep in the Sierra?

My iMac is password protected. When I wake from slumber in the Sierra again, he has a new ugly, indefinable experience. Is it possible that I can change this?

You can change the background photo from there.

  • Canon MG7520 no work since the upgrade of the Sierra.

MacBook Pro communicates only with the Canon MG7520. Tried to reconnect with USB to the printer, no joy.  Called Canon they are aware of the problems of the Sierra.  Someone at - it find a workaround until this Canon & Apple get together.  If you have a printer Canon DONOT upgrade until you hear the problem is solved.  How hard AND risky is to return to El Capitan via Time Machine.  I backed up BEFORE upgrading.  I've never done before.

    Thank you

This can help, I have the MG7150 printer/Scanner and the only problem currently is that on some impressions, I get "has no filter' showing in the print queue and the photo prints never. Appears the Canon USA are aware of the issues for the drivers there and that they are working with Apple for a fix as soon as possible (nothing yet on the UK site, however) but for the foregoing, they offer a work around the State.

    https://www.USA.Canon.com/Internet/portal/us/home/support/self-help-center/Mac-O SX-compatibility.

    https://support.USA.Canon.com/kb/index?page=content & ID = ART166610

I realize this does not help but if my printer seems to communicate ok otherwise, your question is perhaps up to a form of bribery.

Have you tried to remove and then reinstall your printer via "Printers and Scanners" in System Preferences, if you right click on your printer (printers head to the left) and select "Reset printing system" this will delete your printing system, so you can then add your printer by clicking the "+" button down to the left. When the box opens 'Add' wait a few seconds so that all the drivers installed (apples and the factory if you have installed separately) appear - then simply select you need. In my case, I have two "Canon MG7100 series" to choose, the first is 'Hello' and the second 'Canon IJ Network' - see what is displayed for you and all try them, you can work and go you again.

Finally, if you select the Hello option you can change what is offered as part of 'Use' of its default value (could be AirPrint) to another, in my case "Canon Mg7100 series.

  • ID/faces of the people in the Sierra pictures, pulling up the non-functional names

Someone knows how to fix this? Is it a new setting I'm missing? I've already sent feedback to Apple.

Photos, when I come across a photo of a person without a name, I can click on the field "no name" and a list of names appears. In the Sierra, however, the list includes names of new non-functional based on the e-mail addresses that are causing problems with my library.

For example, if I type my name, I see three suggestions:

    1. my full name, with the thumbnail associated with my Photos 'face '.

    2. my full name with my email from Apple below address and the photo of my Contacts entry

    3. my full name with a secondary e-mail, which I have also listed in Contacts, with no tile

If I take 1, everything works as usual.

If I take 2 or 3, Photos makes a new person with just my name. It does not automatically fill in the rest of my name. I find myself with two entrances of the person, one with my full name and one with my name. I then merge these. This happens with all the people, not just me.

I have the same problem. When I want to manually add a face without a name/person, I get very often 2 proposals:

    (1) the person sought with the profile photo, the first name and family name. If a picture is displayed, this means that I have already assigned photos to this person.

    (2) the same person, with or without a profile picture, with name, surname and e-mail. This proposal seems to come from my contacts, because it shows the same profile photo and mail the address I have for this person in my contacts.

If I add the photo to the contact person, the person is added as a person in Photos. But with only the name, not the name, which is a little ridiculous, especially when you are systematically adding people and having many with the same name.

I merge the two to get back 1 "individual" in photos, with first and last name (first and last).

So somehow Photos is not capable of matching 'people' in photos to anyone in my contacts list. Even when you merged the two and said Photos this way they need to be put in correspondence.

  • How to import photos from iPhoto to the Photos without losing the date structure

    Hey there,

Today, I realized that not all my photos to the Macintosh iPhotos Photos last year. At this point, I'm missing about 700 photos.

Is it possible to merge the iPhoto to the existing photo library library while keeping the structure of date? I tried just to drag some photos but they then imported as if they were taken today.

If possible, I want to keep the date structure so that all the photos that were taken at the same time will remain together.

Export images from iPhoto to the Finder, and then import them to Photos.

    File-> edit

    This trick of the user

    https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-4921

a details of the options in the export dialog.

    Ignore the file date.

There are two types of metadata involved considering the jpeg or other image file.

One is the data file. That's what shows the Finder. That tells you nothing about the content of the file, just the file itself.

The problem with the metadata file is that it is easy to change the file is moved from one place to another or exported, by electronic mail, downloaded, etc.

Photographs have also obtained the Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera broken that the photo is saved in the Exif metadata. Without worrying if that said the date of the file, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.

Applications of photo like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc. get their date and time of the Exif metadata.

When you export from iPhoto to the new Finder file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The file date is reported - exactly - the date of export.

However, does not change the Date of the Photo.

The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.

Thus, your photo has the correct date and the file does, but these are different things. To perform a sort on the date of the Photo, you will need to use a photo app.

  • In the case of Facebook I control-click on Add Image to Photos, where Photos can I find the image being added?

On Facebook I Ctrl-click on a photo and then choose picture add pictures on the shortcut menu.  Subsequently, photos where I can find the image added?  Is there a systematic way?

Sometimes, images from Facebook are added at the end of my table of Photos.  This table is always keep sort by oldest first.  However, some images from Facebook appear to come from the previous dates.  At least one, I found a photo added to Facebook in the middle of a time at which the additional picture has nothing to do.  My guess is the added photo's date time whereby it sorts here and pictures imported, nor others currently have location data.  If any location data would show that the imported photo was not present.

I imported several other photos from Facebook, which I can't find.  I think I checked the album last import and did not find them here.  I suspect they have dates, which I do not know, and causing them to be placed somewhere other than the end of my library.

How can I find the imported photos from Facebook?

When you see a photo in Safari and ctrl + click or right-click, then use "Add photo", it will be added to the photo library without appearing in "last import.  It goes the same for adding photos of Mail in this way.

But you can find the album "AllPhotos".  All new photos added this way should appear at the bottom of all the pictures, because this album is sorted by the date of the import session.

If you see the photo added in the last import, control-click it or right click and select 'display in the Moment '.  This way you can find at the moment, it has been added to.

  • Photo album not in the right order

When I discovered an album photos are not in the order of time, even if it's the sort sequence that I selected. They are mostly in order of time, but there are pictures (often several in a row) that are out of sequence. However, when I view the same images in the album "All Photos" the sequence is correct.

    I tried:

    (1) fix the library

    (2) remove all photos of Photo, defining the location the same in all of them original, and then re - import in Photo

    None of these permits.

Am I missing something or is there a bug in the way that the kind of app Photo photos in albums? It seems strange that in the album 'All the Photos' photos are sorted in their good time sequence, but not in an album that contains a subset of all the photos.

    Help!

Since there were no response, I would like to add that I searched this site and found several positions reported this same problem, however, I was unable to find fixes.

I would like to add another question: does anyone know what date field (p.. ex - Date, update date fields EXIF) is used to sort photos by date?

  • import photos from usb in the files and store them in folders

I have pictures files created on a pc and stored on a USB key.

I want to create a library for these pictures and retain their position in folders

I imported the Photos, but they are sorted by date with no option to change.

Is there a way to keep records and bring them to Photos?

Pictures folders cannot contain pictures, only the albums containing photos.  There is an Applescript script in the Photos for Mac usage tips section which allows you to import the pictures folders from your hard drive in the library of Photos and make them into albums with the same name as the folder.  You can get it here: Photos for Mac: File Import of Image files in the library as Albums

The Photos window sorts the photos by date they were taken and are called Moments.  The window of all sorts photos by date imported into the library with the most recent at the bottom of the window.

Moments in Photos are new events, i.e. groups of photos sorted by date of catch.

When the iPhoto library has been migrated first to the pictures there is a folder created in the box titled iPhoto events and all migrated iPhoto events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in this folder. Use the Command + Option + S key combination to open the sidebar if it is not already open.

NOTE: it has been reported by several users that if the albums of the event are moved in the iPhoto Library folder in the sidebar, they disappear.  It is not widespread, but several users have reported this problem.  Therefore, if you want to if ensure that you keep these event albums do not transfer out of the iPhoto events folder.

Is there a way to simulate events in pictures.

When new photos are imported in the library of Photos, go to the smart album last import , select all the photos and use the file menu option ➙ New Album or use the key combination command + N.  Call it what you want.  It appears just above the folder to iPhoto events where you can drag it into the events in iPhoto folder

When you click on the folder to iPhoto events, you will get a window simulated of iPhoto events.

Albums and smart albums can be sorted by title, by Date, with the oldest first and by Date with the most recent first.
