  You can have more than one iPhoto library. Normally, when the photo is launched, it assumes that your main iPhoto library is on the boot volume, in your pictures folder.

  Check the size of the PhotosLibrary file created in your users > your account > pictures folder. Move it out (you can remove it later). Pictures of launch with down option, select the main iPhoto library to migrate. Give it time, it is a slow process.

  As sb90275, you should really use the actual dates, no strings, in your query. You can use the TO_DATE function to convert a date string, i.e.

  There are two types of metadata involved considering the jpeg or other image file.

  One is the data file. That's what shows the Finder. That tells you nothing about the content of the file, just the file itself.

But I would add notes and/or descriptions so that when I entered a search for specific photos, they came to the top and I didn't need dates. Apparently, when photos have been imported into the new program, they are listed by date and descriptions are gone. Do you know if they're hiding, or if we can find them? Otherwise I have no idea where the first photos are and I have to visually through the 22 000 photos.

  Apparently, when photos have been imported into the new program, they are listed by date and descriptions are gone.

  Are the descriptions of the events?  If you open the sidebar with the albums, (enter the ⌥⌘S - command-option-S key combination), you will see a folder iPhoto events.  It will be an album for each of your events.

  The next time that you start the Organizer, go in the Dock, click on more and hold its icon there and go to options more > keep in dock.

  To copy your photos from iphoto, go to file > import from iphoto. This will duplicate your photos, however.

  Check the settings on your iPhone.  Have you enabled iCloud photo library in the settings > iCloud > Photos on your iPhone?  Or "my photo stream?

  If you have iCloud library active on your and your iPhone photos sync iCloud and from there will to all your devices.

  If you do not want to synchronize on your iPhone photos, clear the iCloud photo library, but do not allow to delete photos from iCloud, or they will be removed the Mac as well.  With the removal of your iPhone, wait until all iCloud photo options have been disabled.
