Photos: How to move pictures opening

As support for opening will be gone I need an alternative to the opening. (Ping leonie)

Background

I have two alternatives in mind. Lightroom or Photos.

I believe that the development of Lightroom is such that Lightroom DVD no longer exist as standalones, but only as a subscription with a monthly fee.

Goal

It is my goal to keep photos sorted by chronological order in projects (terminology of the opening). I rarely work with individual photos. When I do I can crop or use the alternative 'effects' in the aperture settings. No more than that.

I also want to keep the settings that I made earlier when I move my library to open in the other program.

Info on my library

My library contains 85 000 photos. I use not RAW. The photos are jpg

When I've made an adjustment, I am willing to go against the original. I is not need to return to the original. The created version is welcome to be the new "original".

Where am I

  1. 1. I have found no way to smooth the transfer of photos and effective time (when the test for Lightroom, I bought and tried the 'exporter of the opening', but that one seems to be as tedious as any and it tilts when exporting larger quantities at the same time).
  2. 2. I saw nowhere decent ratings or advice on how to go about the transfer.
  3. 3. I'm about to give up and lean to the program Photos
  4. 4. but I still see tips on how to move the library in a way that saves the adjustments, retains the 'projects' and maintains the chronological order of the "projects".

My question

I need advice (to help) on how to move my Aperture library to Photos, the objectives above how smooth and timely.

(Retina MBP etc etc + Yosemite)

I understand that the development of Lightroom is such that Lightroom DVD no longer exist as standalones, but only as a subscription with a monthly

You can always buy Lightroom as a standalone application without subscription.

This support document describes, how Photos manages an Aperture library:

How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

The transition to keep all changes, keywords, your albums.

The projects will be treated differently. Pictures uses 'moments' as the structure of the core library. Each photo and all of its versions will be in one a time, just like the aperture projects.    But while you could move photos between projects in Aperture and name projects, the moments are created automatically.  Photos will automatically collect all the photos taken at the same time in the same place in an instant, and related moments will be a collection. All collections in the same year will be collected in a view of the year.

This will give you a completely automatic chronological view of your photos.  You can create albums and folders of the albums, as the smart albums.

Basically, you migrate the Aperture library by dragging the library on the Photos icon in the Dock.

But take a look at this thing: Notes on the migration of an Aperture of Aperture for photo for Mac library

This will create an album on the selected photos.

I'm trying to move images from windows media player library of images, or if possible to another account 'user '.

Windows Media Player and libraries contain no files, you just tell him
    where to find files.

For other users to access the same files, place them in a folder accessible
to all, such as public folders.

  • How to move pictures into the corresponding folder after changing the opening time of the photo?

    Hello

I imported some (old) pictures scanned in LR5 (v5.6). The pictures got the time now because there is no available EXIF data, so LR5 imported in the 2014-12 record.

After importing I change opening time (menu metadata) and renamed photos (library-> rename photos: userdefined name + opening time). In this perspective, all right.

But the photos are still in the 2014-12 record. How can I bring LR5 to move them to the folder corresponding to the new opening time (for example, 2000 - 01)?

    Any help welcome.

    Thomas

LR will not move files on its own, you must do it yourself, dragging them to the destination folder you want (in the left panel of the library module).

  • How to move pictures and the catalogue of a new external drive on a Mac?

I found this question several times and do not understand the answers.  I have all my photos and the catalog LR on an external HD.  I need to move to an external drive more.  I tried with the Finder, but when I try to open the catalog on the new disk the pictures do not show in LR even if they are on the disc.  In a few simple steps how to do this correctly?

Assuming that the new disk is writable,

    Open the catalog.

    Go to the folders Panel.

Do a "find missing" on the top-level folders so that LR will know where the files have been moved to.

I noticed that when I try to organize my collection of pictures and to place images in different albums, they do not move out of my camera roll, but they are copied into the selected album. I want to move those pictures, not to copy them, how does that happen?

    Thank you

They cannot be moved out of the camera. When you create albums on an iOS device, you store copies of the photos in the albums, but just pointers or shortcuts for these photos from the film. When you remove the film, they will be deleted in your albums as well.

I have several pictures of food left for a portfolio that I put in 1 folder. How can I accomplish this?

Try, next time around, specify that you are using the opersating system. That would make things simpler, sometimes.

Generally, you start by creating a folder just for that, then you can use 2 methods...

    1. drag and Drop option

Left click on the image and HOLD > then drag it to the folder just created > then drop (let go the hold).

    2 go to the option.
Right click on the image > select the Move To option > navigate to the new folder > select this folder > click on move.

If you do not Move To option in your context menu from right vClick, use this tutorial:

    For Vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/89196-context-menu-add-copy-folder-move-folder.html

    For Win 7: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/516-context-menu-add-copy-folder-move-folder.html

To move multiple images in another folder...

Left-click on one of the images (any will do) > Ctrl-key-press and HOLD > clcik left the following image > while holding down the Ctrl key, move to the next left click photo and so on and so on until you have selected all the photos >

then you can use the drag and drop or move to the method.

  • How to move pictures in a table that uses ClipboardPut/GetTableVals

I'm trying to move an image in a cell of one table to another by using the Clipboard, but I am not able of: even if no error is found in the copy of the original image with ClipboardPutTableVals, ClipboardGetTableVals always declares no photo is available in the Clipboard (which is true because I can't paste anything to paint for example).

I'm working on a single cell: the help says that in this case, the image must be copied to the Clipboard.

I enclose a simple project that exposes the problem: just click anywhere in a line that has a picture and press on move, the line where you want the image to copy, and then see the result.

    Tested in CVI 2012SP1 and 2013SP1 on a Win7Pro SP1 box.

    Hello Roberto,

It seems that GetTableCellVal and SetTableCellVal can do what you need to...

In addition, I do not understand why your example doesn't work. As far as I understand ClipboardPutTableVals and ClipboardGetTableVals function helps, your method should work...

    Let me explain.

I changed all my photos from iphoto my LR catalog. Now, I would like to remove all my pictures from my mac and move them to a DHM.

You need to copy (and not move) the photos using your operating system, the external hard drive and then reconnect the photos in Lightroom, by following these instructions (scroll down to the section called the update folder location): Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing once it is successful, you can remove photos from your internal hard drive.

  • How to move pictures from one album to another?

I tried to create an album called 'selfies' but when I clicked on some of my photos to this album, about 175 photos moved by mistake in this album.  When I tried some out, my choice seems to be only to remove them!  I don't want to delete one of them, just move them out of the album 'selfie '!

If you are viewing a photo album you should be able to secondary click (click right click or control) and one of the options should be 'delete album '.

    Thank you!

    Hi tettnyc,

You must select all 6 images, then drag and drop the thumbnails in the other folder in Lightroom.

Then the images would be displaced and images will move also in the Finder, if you select the option "move the disk".

    Kind regards

    Hi @JVRudnick

Can you confirm where copy you the files too? The reason I ask, if you select device or Media Card followed by a file, you will be able to copy files to and from your device.  If you select music, photo or video, however, you can only view the content, can not copy files to the device.
