Photos sort by date in the Sierra

I'm working on a shared Album. I have my own pictures and photos posted by someone else in the shared Album. I imported the photos of the other person, so I can change them.

I want to sort pictures by time and date taken. The only 'option' is 'keep sorted by oldest Date added '. Option is in quotes because it is grayed out and there are no other options.

MacBook Pro. Sierra.

Thanks for your suggestions.

There is no other options with shared albums - they are only sorted by the date, the photos are added to the album

  • Photos do not sort by time when the Date and time are adjusted

I'm the combination of images of my friends with those friends, using Mac Photo of OS X V10.11.4. Because the dates of our cameras vary, I used "Image, set Date and time" to change the dates of the imported pictures. When the dates and times are adjusted, the photos are sorted by date no time. Added photos changed the given date are sorted at the end, regardless of time stamp. The sort options in the pictures leave much to be desired.

Where are you seeing this? All the photos are sorted by date/time, the photo has been added to the library - Photos (years/collections/moments) are sorted by date/time pictures

You can select the photos of interest and create your own album of them and then sort but title ascending or descending or by date

  • Photo of sorting in the Sierra

I recently returned from a trip and imported my photos in Photos. They are a mixture of photos from iPhone and my camera, but I have synced the time on both, they would then be in the correct order once mixed between them.  Because I was in the mountains, some photos have a geographical location, embedded, and others do not.

However, in the Photos, it does not seem to be a way to sort everything by time. It is all the photos with the news of geographic location as a moment of consolidation, then showing those without much later in the order. This applies even to try to sort "Oldest first" album. The result is very disjointed and confusing, as photos taken seconds apart on the same subject appear nowhere near each other in the album sorted.

Other than the manual update of hundreds of photos with an approximate location, or stripping all its location data, is there a way to get around this?

Make a user photo album - either a standard album or smart album (smart album for pictures between certain dates is probably logical) and you can then sort by date/time, ascending or descending or title album (menu display == > sorting)

Shared albums are essentially photo streams. They will always show the photos in the order that add you them to the album.  If you want your photos to appear in a specific order, you must add them to the album individually, one by one, exactly in the order of your choice.  You cannot add all photos in an album at once - which will give unpredictable results.

For example, to create a new album with your photos.  Then ctrl-click on the album and select "Keep arranged by Date, oldest first" to sort the album.  Now add each photo from the album shared individually.  There will be a lot of work.

  • Question: Sort photos by date within the album.

    Hello

I have a silly question: is it possible to sort photos by date within Albums? I know that if I choose 'photos' mode they are arranged by date, but when I chose pictures to create a new album, they are not sorted by date.

What version of Photos do you use?

In Photos 1.3, you can sort photos by date in an album.

Select the album in the sidebar, ctrl-click, click "Sort" and select "keep sorted by...» ».

To bring up the sidebar enter the key combination command-option-S ⌥⌘S

and find it very annoying that the apparently immutable fate are default by date added.

Only the album 'Pictures' is sorted by date added. The goal is to help you find your most recent matter quickly.

View Photos of the library (Moments, Collections, years) is sorted by the date of capture.

Any other album is sorted by the date of capture.

You can create your own album 'All the Photos' as a smart album and ascending or descending sorting, for example like this:

  • How can I sort folders of photo album of the date of the pictures inside of them?

So, in my pictures folder, I have several files. Each file is an album.

I want to sort the pictures folder, so each album folder is by order of date taken. However, that appears not to be possible that windows considers that the date of the album, FOLDER, not the content it contains.
Is there a way to make Windows organize my folders in album by the date of the photos in their midst? Or should I just manually edit the files?

  • will be supported traditional faces in photos of the sierra

Anyone know if the work done on the photos to supplement the data of faces is supported in the Sierra of OSX. I have over 12000 photos tagged with faces and I can't wait to know if Apple will simply get rid of my current data and replace it with their new way to find people?

    Thank you

As soon as Apple launches Sierra can someone check it for you and let you know. Until the moment, those who are running Sierra are under a non-disclosure agreement and cannot say anything about it.

  • Photos Version 1.5 does not sort by date AND time

I use a Macbook Air early 2015 running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 & version 1.5 of the Photos. I took ~ 200 pictures at an event using a camera of 2 nights ago. I put the SD card in my camera in my Mac tonight and uploaded all the photos at a time. They are not in chronological order - arrrgghh!

All photos were taken from Headquarters even of the same place the same evening. No adjustments were made at the time of the camera during the event. I checked the time / date stamp on the pictures - they are accurate, then I haven't adjusted their. The photos are simply in the random time sequence.

I've read the support forums & tried to solve the problem by creating a record of the event, and then selecting all the photos, and then 'view' > 'fate' > 'keep sorted oldest first' and the order does not change.

Can someone help me get these pictures in the order in which they were actually taken?

    Thank you!

Photos sorts the images differently depending on which mode you are in.

Special album 'All the Photos' is sorted by the date that the images have been added to your library.

'Photos' special album is sorted based on the timestamp of image creation and organized automatically based on the date and place on Moments, the Collections and the years.

  • Sort photos by problem set by the

Rather than explaining how all this came to pass, let me just describe the situation.  I got about 900 pictures that I imported photos from IPhoto. For the most part I organize photos by theme and place with albums, but it seems that by default of the Photo is to sort by date.

All 900 of my pictures have incorrect dates. Sometimes wildly incorrect. (Once again: how it came to be, is not important). The result is that I see (for example) on July 1, 1989 photos of 1902, 1950, 1990, 2004 - without rhyme or reason.

The idea of metadata for all 900 photos is daunting. So here's my question. He will break something if I did a "select all" and then bulk changed the date on each photo on the same date. So January 1, 2016, for example.  Later I'd albums associated with date, but in a much more flexible configuration. Thus, for example: Joe - birth to kindergarten

It's really confusing to see the chaos of 900 distributed good pictures willy nilly over the years.

If I can do this, change the date on each of them on the same date?

    Any guidance is appreciated.

This isn't a feature of Photos but some experienced users have written scripts for things like that - it's what you want - Script: batch change Date and time on a fixed Date

and it is available as a compiled application - http://www.oldtoadstutorials.net/No.P01.html

You look at the photo album of all - it is always sorted before the date of the photo has been added to the Photos - View Photos is always sorted before the date of the photo and can be displayed in collections or the times years

  • Estimated date of the photo was taken in Lightroom

I have a lot of older family photos I try to organize in Lightroom metadata that apply to them.  I want to be able to filter and sort the photos by date.  I was watching the "Edit Capture time dialog box "and I was wondering if there is a more flexible way for wonder information to these images on when you think they have taken.  Because they have been scanned from film and taken years or decades, we can estimate the time until a point of accuracy only.  In some cases, we know that a number of years, a specific year or a month in the year.

'Change the Capture time... '. "seems to require the time to express themselves in any precision (i.e. year/month/day date and hour\minute\second at the moment).  However, what I really want to be able to do, is provide a date or range of dates for a large number of these photos as we usually do not know the exact day they took.  I'm not really crazy about solutions as still failing the day a value such as '1' when the day is unknown (for example, if I know that the photo was taken in June 1966, I enter on June 1, 1966) because then I lost the ability to distinguish between the pictures actually taken the first day of each month and pictures taken during a given month.  The problem becomes even worse if you try to select a month by default (say in January), if the specific month photo was taken is unknown.

Obviously, I could go on and with these kinds of examples, but hopefully you get the idea.  Anyone have ideas for or experience with how to handle this kind of need in Lightroom?  Did you somehow work with the installation of "Edit Capture time... ' or is there another way to handle this?  Or - is it just a limitation that everyone tries to make such meetings is stuck with?

    Thank you

    David Madrian

Recording time is a specific entity and may not be accurate.

I suggest using the time capture and filling 1s or 0s for parts that you do not knowthe solution 1 June you're talking about, this gives you the ability to sort the photos.  Then put the effective date of the accuracy known in the caption or keywords, or even as the first part of the file name, you can also sort or use file search to filter.  You can also put photos in folders that contain the date with the precision that you think you know: YYYY, YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD MM.  Depending on your setting of subset of metadata in the right panel, you can also see a few other fields IPTC, you might want to put info in, but things to those who might be buried too deep.  Adding a keyword like circayear, circamonth, circadateyou can probably do something better, but keep one word, as well as others, such as the current month and year could tell you the accuracy in a way that is filterable if you need to review the pictures that have a certain degree of imprecision.

  • Albums Photos custom within folders disappeared after the update of the Sierra

Before the upgrade to Sierra, I had created a lot of albums for specific events (file > New Album...) in pictures and placed them in folders (file > new folder). After the upgrade, all these folders and albums are now missing from the sidebar, but when I use the search box I can find and see all associated. Without having to try and remember the names of all these albums, is there a way to restore the folders and albums on the left navigation pane?

Don't know what you are because albums and file transfer intact from 1.x to 2.0 Photos Photos - perhaps you should hover the mouse on the word albums in the sidebar and click on 'show' that appears on the right
