  Looks like without the audio element is a nested element.  You will need to restore the audio signal in order to see the wave forms.

  Make sure that your drivers are up-to-date. Try to disable the GPU acceleration in preferences then restart Photoshop.

  The thumbnail cache may be necessary compensation if it has become corrupt.

  Open the computer and right-click on the boot drive (c :)), select Properties.

  Click Disk Cleanup and allow it to scan the drive.

  In the resulting list to clear the cache clear all outside the thumbnails option, and then select OK.

  I had this problem also.

  This seems to happen when you connect your printer / HP multifunction peripheral to Ethernet network as opposed to via a USB connector.
  What I found that works so far:

  Start-> programs-> HP-> [Look for your device]-> add device

  The above should get your unit added in.
  Once your printer is added in, go to the screen of 'Services' (start-> Run-> "services.msc")...
  and look for an entry that starts: «HP CUE...» ».  Double-click it, and then click on "Stop".  And then change the Startup Type of "Automatic" to "disabled".  So far, which prevented my printer to disappear again.

  What file extension, these files get when save you them?

  If they do not have a file extension valid for a picture as a .jpg or .png then try to rename the files and give them an extension of .jpg file to see if that helps.
  
  If Windows hides the file extension and then use quotes ("image.jpg") around the name.
  
  You can check the type of file using the context menu > properties.

  It is possible that you clicked the 'Block Images' item in the context menu by attempting to save an image.
  Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > content: Load Images: Exceptions - see the web content, pop-ups, fonts and language settings

  A way to see what images are blocked is to click on the favicon (Site ID icon) on the left side of the address bar.
  Click on the "More information" button opens the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "tools > Page Info").
  Go to the tab Media of this "Page Info" window.
  Select the first image and scroll though the list with the arrow pointing downwards.
  If an image in the list is grayed out and there is a check mark in the box "block Images of..." and remove this mark to unlock the images from this area.
