Photoshop won't let me save files with the Extensions...

Photoshop is not letting me save my files with the extensions more. It is only to save files in the copy and I have to add the extensions manually. This happened at the time, I've upgraded to OSX maverics and drives me crazy because it is extremely laborious. I use the CS5 version. Help, please!

In the Mac Finder > Preferences > Advanced 'show all filename Extensions' should be checked on.

In Photoshop:

Preferences > file management > add a file Extension should be set to "always".

How to open a file with the extension .odg using Vista?

    Hi Defiant503,

Thank you for visiting the forums of answers.microsoft.com.

I did some research and a file ending with .odg is an OpenDocument Document OpenOffice/StarOffice (Ver 2) of graphics by Sun Microsystems, Inc.    This means that in order to open this file, you will need this program to open it.  You will not be able to open this file with Vista.

    I hope this information helps.

  • How to play video files with the extension "rar".

When I download video files with the extension 'rar', I can't play them with Windows Media Player or QuickTime.

Could someone please advise what I can do to fix this problem?

    Thank you

Rar is a compressed, identical to zip file. You must decompress, using an application like winzip or winrar, then according to what file type it is you should be able to play. If you cannot, you will find the codec that makes the Elf, install it, and then everything should be fine, but if you have problems, go back with the extension on the end of the file, as you have with the .rar and ask again.

Depending on the platform, so that the game was up, there may be an available emulator that will allow you to run them. Looking for the name of the platform and "emulator" can give results. If they are DOS based games, DOSBox is an emulator like this.

  • How to open a file with the extension. MIG?

I'm trying to migrate data from one PC to another.  The files to be migrated are stored in a file with the extension. MIG.  What do I need to open it?

Records may not have extensions... then you are probably referring to a file with an extension of MIG.  To open it, you will need to know what program is able to distribute files like that.  What program did you use to use to work with files like that?

  • Captivate 8: PDF export created a file with the extension PDF... but it's actually a video. Shouldn't it exported slides as appropriate PDF document?

In Adobe Captivate, there is a 'PDF export' checkbox when you publish your project.

He checked the box, and the publication of project created a file with the extension PDF... but it's actually a video. Shouldn't it exported slides as appropriate PDF document?

No, it was published in an interactive PDF, has always been the case. It's another way to publish the video, that does not need to deploy it to an LMS or a Web server, you can send the PDF file. However, since Flash player is is more integrated in later versions of the Adobe Reader software, the user is to install it.

  • Import files with the extension of contact?

I have a folder with the files with the extension ".contact" Windows recognize because it opens and displays the contact information when I double click. I'm doomed if I can find a way to import them into Thunderbird but. The option import from address book does not recognize them all when you use the following options: Outlook Express, text file, and the Vcard file. The other two options 'Eudora' and 'Prospects' are grayed out. I can't drag the contact files in Thunderbird address book either.

I am quite confused because they are obviously contacts and it must be in a common format, or else it does not open with Explorer. If Thunderbird will not import these then I want that it was mentioned on the import menu or somewhere so that I don't have to spend an hour reading and watching tutorials that are of no use. The contacts were from another computer and saved on a new computer to replace by the Geek Squad (Best Buy).

    Thanks ago

These .contact files are in the file c:\Users\ \Contactsusername? If so, you should see a toolbar with buttons for the new contact, New contact group, import, export etc. Click on export and choose the format CSV or vCard. For csv files, you can change in a spreadsheet for records correspond to the layout of the address book TB. Then select Tools/import... Address books... ... Text file to change the file type filter to comma-delimited (csv) and open the csv file. Then, move the input fields upwards or downwards for match TB.

To import vCards, see this post.

  • Photoshop doesn't let me shift-click with the Eraser tool. Help?

Hi people! My copy of Photoshop CC 2014 doesn't let me shift-click with the tool eraser to erase a straight line with one single click to another (brush and other tools not working). Is this a known bug? Or make me something tilt that I don't know?

    Thank you!

One way to know is to reset the Eraser tool. If something was off this command he would set it back to default values.

Here's the text, the example tool, but simply select the Eraser tool and right-click to sound ' icon above the Toolbox.

  • Cannot open files with the EXTENSION of the PPT FILE

I can't open a file with the following extension using PowerPoint ppt. The message below is what I get-

The selected file is not a valid Microsoft PowerPoint file. It may be a file created by another program.

Try by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer to see if another program opens to it. If PowerPoint opens again when you double-click the file in Windows Explorer, it is possible that the file is not a PowerPoint file, but its extension has been renamed to be that of a PowerPoint file type registered (for example, .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .ppsx, .pptx, .pot or .potx) but the file is not a PowerPoint file.

To determine which program can open the file, try one of the following:

    • Contact the original author (if known) to know what program you used to create this file. Then rename the file with the correct extension so that it can be opened by this program.
    • Try opening the file in other programs.
    • If you or someone you know, are very knowledgeable about software, review the file header in a text editor to determine which program can read the file.

Another possibility is that the file has been damaged during transfer from another computer. Trying to transfer the file again.

The file may be damaged. If you have a copy of the file backup, use it. It is not possible repair corrupted file.

  • System won't let me save files where I want. It says Contact admiistrator. There is none. It's just me. How can I say this stupid OS I AM the administrator, so I can save things where I want to save them to?

I want to be the administrator

You forgot to tell us where you try to save files. You may be trying to save them in directories protected like the root of %systemdrive%\lopr.txt, Program Files or Windows. After you protect the directories is common with many modern exploitation, not only Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. It's a good thing if you think that whether or not.

What is not not the administrator, even if you are running in an administrator account (no best practices - see below), you still need to raise the privilege when overall changes to the operating system.

If you try to save files in your user directory and failing, please let us know. Otherwise the OS works as expected. If you find it too shocking, then you can always switch to another operating system. However, be aware that you will find the same 'limitations' in Linux and OS X. And nobody knows what he/she does would run as root under Linux.

You don't have your system set up optimal about users. You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista and Windows 7 are OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges on Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).
