Photosmart 5524 duplex printing margins issue

Hello

Just bought a photosmart 5524 printer.  Everything seems ok to start, but have you noticed (with a previous user) who come to the margins when printing on both sides.

It seems to be to reproduce the same problem as the previous user, but I followed the resolution proferred in this thread, and the problem persists.

I am running Windows 7, get the number of Word and Acrobat Pro 11 13.

I tried to change the settings of the printer, as suggested in the thread precedent, but if these are defined that only, I don't get the option to print on both sides.  If duplex is set, I have the option when I select print in the program, but the margins are narrowed.

My apologies if this has been resolved, but the only thread I can find is the only one I want to talk and this does not seem to resolve.

Any suggestions gratefully received...

  • Photosmart 7520 Duplex printing with A5?

    Hey well informed friends HP!

I have been working on a book-type project and am ready to print. Unfortunately, now that everything is set-out (in Mellel) and I bought the paper (from England!), my Mac (OS 10.6.8) does not want me to print my book on both sides of a sheet of A5 with long edge binding. I hope that there is a sort of Workaround available that will allow me to do that; scaling my layout isn't really an option at this point. Please tell me I'm not outta luck and I'll be able to print my book!

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

    Hello

The accessory automatic duplex support only formats of A4 paper, letter or legal due to hardware limitations.

A5 paper size, you can perform copy double-sided print manually using the Pages of print options.

I have a hp photosmart C4780 and I'm under Mac OS lion x under a 2010 macbook pro. I have the drivers and software available on the hp site and everything is up-to-date.

My question is simple: How can I print duplex?

When I try to print a document, I'm not able to select the duplex mode. As far as I understand that it is possible to print manual duplex to windows help and this printer. I am able to do the same on the Lion?

    Thank you

    Hello
The two-Sided feature reffer automatic two sided printing.
As the specific device provide printing manual duplex only, you can perform duplexing manual as follows:

To perform manual duplexing, Joanie you use the Pages to the printer setting, you can find below:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01663233

Thus, another alternative is to use the HP two-sided printing software:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL35975/MP-88750-2/HP_Two-sided_Printing.dmg
You can access this tool by clicking the PDF button at the bottom of the print dialog box, and then select double-sided printing and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Photosmart 7510 duplex printing?

The 7510 will do double-sided printing? If so, how to install?

Yes, getting the duplex (two-sided) of printing. When you install the HP software that came with the printer, you will see one of the icons is "HP Photosmart 7510 Series. Open, click Printer Preferences. The box that says print on both sides were 'none' will choose. Drop drop-down, two-sided on short side OR back on the long side. You are then ready to go. The printer prints the first page, sucks the sheet back, flips and prints the next page and so on.

  • Photosmart 8450: Photosmart 8450 duplex printing upside down with Win 10

    Hello

I checked all the settings, tried to flip short side / long-side, reinstalled the drivers and still it prints on the back backwards! He worked well with Windows 7, but not Windows 10.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

You can try a different driver.  The Deskjet 6840 driver is compatible with the Photosmart 8450 and also provides a number of additional printing options such as resizing and reflection.  To install this driver, follow these steps: go to the folder of devices and printers, right click on the Photosmart 8450, select properties from the printer, advanced, new driver, Next, Windows Update, wait a few minutes for the list to update.  Now, choose HP as manufacturer and select the driver HP Deskjet 6840 (HP), apply.  Then, select the general tab, printing options and set the default values you want, apply, OK.

  • Photosmart 5524: 5524 Print Duplex

Hi, I already bought HP Photosmart 5524. I had a problem with printing and double-sided scanning. After you print the first page, the printer pulls the page and it does not print. If I change manual double-sided printing option, the printer will work correctly.

    Hello, @marek30 - greetings!

Welcome to the HP Forum! It is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get help and advice.

I understand that you need to configure printing double-sided with your Photosmart printer.  Please follow the steps mentioned below and check:

    • Go to control panel - devices and printers.
    • Right-click on Photosmart 5524, then select 'printer properties '.
    • Select the tab "device settings".
    • Ensure that the "two-sided" is set to "Installed" rather than "Not installed" and save the settings.
    • Now, again give a right click on the printer icon and select "Print Options".
    • If a "Printing shortcuts" tab is available, select the option "Print on Both Sides" or «print double-sided (Duplex)»
    • If 'Print shortcut' is not available, click the "Layout", "Includes" or "Finishing tab", depending on which tab is displayed in your version of the driver.
    • Locate the "Print on Both Sides" or "duplex printing" menu or an option, then the option link or page flip depending on whether you want the document reads like a brochure or a Tablet and save the settings.

That should do the trick. Let me know!

    See you soon

I have virtue to solve the problem and the analysis, after going to the Printer Wizard, manage the scan of the computer, and then disable and then allowing once again the analysis to the action of the computer. Why is this and I go back to auto scan the prinetr again? Is this something to do with the recent Microsoft updates?

    Hey @Palmyra3,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are not able to use systematically the "computer scan" function on your HP Photosmart 5524 e-all-in-one printer to your computer Windows 8.1. I would like to help you today with this problem of communication of intermittent scanning. Now, because you are able to go in and manually enable the option 'analysis of the computer' and it works fine (temporarily) we know that your software and drivers are correctly installed and that you have no such conflict of wireless communication. I think a background on your computer or a firewall program can cause the conflict of communication bidirectional scan.

  • Photosmart 5520 (but also others) duplex printing cleared at the bottom

Very recently, I bought a Hp Photosmart 5520 and I found that sometimes the bottom of a page is cut off when printing double-sided. I looked in this forum and found that this problem is hardware related and can not be solved, but there are solutions. I did a few tests with my current setup and I want to share my discoveries, here for other users waiting for HP to add a FAQ for the photosmart 5520 entry. (but also for the 6520 and 7520, probably)

The problem is clearly stated in a few messages, dating from September 2013 and Nov 2013, although it is not very easy to find

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-printing-questions/duplexing-discrepancy/m-p/2470573/highlight/tr...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/scanning-faxing-and-copying/double-sided-printing-is-cut-off-short-Phot...

Basically, the margin of the low printable area is 3mm side simple impression, while it is 15mm (at least!) for the first page, double-sided printing. This is due to the fact that the printer must keep the paper in the output roll after that that he finished printing the first page. It is therefore IMPOSSIBLE to duplex - print a document with text or graphics that extends beyond the margin of the lower 15 mm, unless the page size is reduced so that the effective bottom margin is 15 mm. On the other hand, if the document does not contain text or graphics beyond bottom margin of 15 mm it CAN be printed double-sided without reduction.

IMHO, the problem is that the default behavior of the firmware of the printer, the drivers of operating system and/or applications do not always properly address this limitation leading to surprising or unsatisfactory results.

To better understand the limits and behavior of the printer, I have carried out tests under the following conditions:

    (1) copy 2-sided vs 1-side in the printer display

    (2) Windows 7 applications: Word2010, Foxit PDF reader, Acrobat PDF reader

    (3) 4.3 android: Cloud Print and HP ePrint apps

The firmware in the printer is MGP5CN1351AR (Sep 12, 2013)

The windows version of printer drivers is 28.8 (October 30, 2012)

For tests 2 and 3, I have prepared a document word of 2 pages with headers and footers located exactly at 15 mm of margin top and bottom of the page and I have produced a PDF with CutePDF (unfortunately this forum does not allow attachments, otherwise I would have attached it).

    The results were as follows

    (1) in 2-sided copy the last 15 mm on part and on the other copy of the output are empty, even if the text of the content entry page, while, in 1-sided copy only the last 3 mm are empty (resizing is turned off, of course)

    (2) double-sided printed of Word2010 gives a duplexer not resized when the printing preferences, advanced options, "Arrangement" is disabled. If it is set on, the output is reduced. Print PDF files is tricky: there are several different options in Foxit PDF and acrobat PDF. Auto-Centre and adjustment - on the page to print double-sided, but do not keep the right size in Foxit PDF reader; If preserve layout is off a significant part of the bottom of the page is not printed, apparently due to the fact that the margins are not properly managed by foxit PDF. Acrobat PDF instead, leave a good impression both sides preserve the page layout and scaling are disabled (obviously up to 15 mm).

    (3) android Cloud Print prints the word and pdf files WITHOUT a provision to 'preserve', this is why some clipping may occur; HP ePrint prints two word files and pdf reduced in size, as if "preserve layout" option has been set.

In summary, I'll leave the "preserve layout" options always on in windows and I'll take a cut on the side of double-sided printing and I use hp eprint instead of cloudprint. If the correct size is important to a PDF file, it is best to experiment with Acrobat PDF (even if it is not a light program). iI would be expected at HP improved the behavior of the windows printer drivers to print a PDF file.

I hope that this post may be useful to other people.

You are right, that the effective page size is reduced because of the extra margins required to manage the document in automatic duplex mode.  From the rear is donated in the printer from the bottom and bottom printed in the top margin is also higher top for the back to the front.

The checkbox 'Keep the page layout' is important for results appropriate, although it will reduce the effective print size.

I've seen reports before of Foxit PDF printing problems, I avoid and use Adobe Reader.

  • Photosmart 5524: MGP1CN1610AR update the Firmware on HP PhotoSmart 5524 on September 14, 2016 broke wireless printing

I have a question which I believe is related to the MGP1CN1610AR firmware update that was released on September 14, 2016 and auto installed on my HP Photosmart 5524.  Since the update I can print is no longer my laptop Windows 10, or my iPhone with iOS 10.  I can, however, send an e-mail to my HPEPrint account and this shows with success - which proves that the printer is connected to the internet and WiFi.

My network is provided by my BT HomeHub 5 with BT infinity.  The status of router, the printer displays intermittently as connected then disconnected.  This is since the update of the firmware.

Is it possible to restore the firmware on the printer? OR is there a known solution to get my WiFi printing works again.

    Hi RTD_HPUser,

    Thank you for your answer!

I'm glad you found a solution that worked for you. About the firmware, as long as the Web service is enabled, you can select the icon Web Services, settings, and then select printer Update, then the update is automatic, and turns off. This will prevent the firmware update on the printer.

If you are unable to reach a resolution, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

I hope that answers your question!

  • Automatic duplex printing - Photosmart 310 has

I have a new printer Photosmart Premium e-All-In-One C310a. In highlights eco told me, ' save the document of up to 50% with automatic duplexing.»

Since I assumed this printer could do that, but I was not able to find out how.

The seven-page document that comes with the printer isn't really a "user guide". Its more like a summary of features, very few 'how to' save for a step 4 put in place the process.

The C310a has the ability to print two-sided documents automatically and if so, how?

    Thank you

    Hello Bobst,

Regarding my info tells me the device supports automatich duplex printing, but needs a duplexor to do. Some models are sold with the already installed duplexor and some models are not. So in this case, you will need to buy a duplexor. TO see if you model has an installed duplexor check the back of the unit. If installed it should look at there is a black brick that comes out of the unit.  Click HERE for more info on this duplexor, its two-sided printing accessory.

  • HP photosmart pro b8350 print Windows 7 x 64 not available automatic duplex unit

I bought a photosmart pro b8350 back in 2006 or so to use on my XP64 system and added the print front and back in a short time module after. I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64 over a year ago and just recently installed the printer. I can't use the automatic duplex with the built-in driver option. I need to print a quantity just now that I have it back up and duplex printing automatically has been pretty well a need, as I have to leave the system unattended while I work on other projects. I really need to manually duplex everything now? If I switch to a new printer in the near future, he will also lose the functionality in the next years? I still can't use the advanced features of my scanjet 8300 that I bought in 2006, either. The driver has never fully supported XP64.

    Hello

Maybe it's a bug in Windows 7. The duplexor is reported as not installed by default, so you need to change this

Go to the Control Panel, find the devices and printers, then click on it. Then right click on your printer icon and choose 'printer properties '. In the new screen go to the "Device settings" tab and under "automatic duplex print unit" set installation options on installed. Should be on is not installed by default, so change installed, then click on apply. Restart the software and perhaps even your computer and check that duplex printing is an option now.
