Photosmart 6510 print with only black print cartridge?

Hi, can printing Photosmart 6510 in black & white (not gray, but b & w only) when the black ink cartridge is not empty, but all the other cartridges are? If the color cartridges are not already installed, it will always show b & w?

Hello

The 6510 PS will not work if the color cartridges are empty but the black ink.

However, I think that it would be possible to print using only black ink but to do ink in the cartridges of colour as well because in case of maintenance color cartridges to do little ink in the print head maintenance routines.  When the head is friendly if there was no colour ink this part of the print head could heat upward too or overheat.

Anyway, back to print in black only.  You mention that you do not want t p rint in black and white so you know where to look in the driver to get to this option. Then in Word, Excel or any program, go to the print function.  Click on properties. Click Advanced. You should see where you have levels of gray.  If you clock in the option box should reveal the other options will be "Black Only". Select this option.

As I said you should be able to print using only black, but you will need the color cartridges ink.

Hope this helps.

  • HP Photosmart 6510 alignment Page failure, black ink cartridge not working not

I'm on Mac OSX using the Photosmart 6510 AIO printer 10.7.4. I had problems before printing (black ink would not introduce yourself, sensor said that there was still a lot) so I ordered new cartridges. I printed a report of quality and the color came out great but black came out uneven. Then I used the align parameter and it printed once more uneven black ink and the screen on the printer read "the alignment page failed. It's frustrating, because the printer was used only at the end of last semester and he has not worked since I set up for this semester. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

The steps in this troubleshooting page can help solve the problem.  If it is printing black but spotted I expecially make sure I check the vents and run a cleaning cycle.  If the above does not resolve the issue, see the post here.

  • HP 6600: why can I not print with only black when I have only black cartridge in hp 6600 as hp 4500'?

and he always says that color cartridges are leaking so I had to make one more only accepts black and I can not print with only black.

How can I print with only black when I have the only black in the printer.

Why only black does not work with the color cartridges.

What is the error message you see with the color cartridges installed?

HP and other printer manufacturers have technology another printer for different needs.  For ink jet printers:

      • Some have integrated into the ink cartridges print heads.  These printers can print generally with one or more of the colors completely empty, or even with color or black cartridges (but not both) removed. 5665 envy is an example.
      • Other printers have separate replaceable printheads and inks.  An example would be the printer Officejet Pro 8610.  In these printers print head can be replaced if they are damaged by running the printhead with colors off.  Some of these printers allow printing with a color, the other will not.  If the printer is run without ink in one or several colours, the printer may be damaged, but the user may be able to recover without having to send to the printer for the service.
      • Other printers have permanent print heads.  To run only those without little ink in all colours would risk causing damage to the print head because of clogs, air ingested in the printhead or grilled printhead resistances of shooting. The Officejet 6600 is an example of this type of printer. For printers with fixed print heads that could require the service to get the printer to print properly again when the ink is finally replaced.

The document described here how the ink is used.  The document is written for inkjet printers HP the same principles apply to printers inkjet from other manufacturers.

If you do ever print color laser printer would probably be a better choice.  If you occasionally print color but especially black a HPI printer as those in the first category above can be a good choice.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 J110: Intense black print with the black ink cartridge only

    Hello

I am trying to print the darkest possible black, but simply by using the black ink cartridge. How do I get there?

My printer is HP deskjet 1000 J110 using cartridge HP 301.

I do my drawing in Adobe Illustrator and set the color to be CMYK 100 100 100 100.

If I insert only the black cartridge, the printer will leave empty place where color CMY ink should be or it will fill the space with black ink?

Basically, what I'm trying to do is to increase the density of ink to the highest possible but only using only the black cartridge.

    Thank you.

    Welcome @didididot,

Thanks to their participation in Forums of HP! I see by your post that you would like to be able to print in the black as dark as possible. I can help you.

You can use the mode single-cartridge:

Use single-cartridge in the HP printer with a single cartridge. Mode single-cartridge begins when an ink cartridge is removed from the distribution of the print cartridge. In the mode single-cartridge, the product can only printing from the computer.

Here is a document for printing with black ink only (Windows).

If you use a Mac, let me know.

  • DeskJet 6122 print with only black print cartridge?

I had this oldy but goody through local Freecycle (with two sets of ink!) list after knowledge full it works under Linux and openprinting.org it lists as working perfectly. Plug and play installation with Ubuntu, instantly recognized 14.04.

I think it is indicated only by old-school print/head of cartridge type, but I should be able to use it with the black cartridge only right? I know most recent will force you to have both. I love that the cartridge for the price are very economical too.

The Deskjet 6122 requires a black cartridge and electric sound color must be installed in the printer to print.  It is not necessary to have ink in all colors, but both cartridges must be installed.

I read your post and see that you can not print in black or color now. I would like to help you today. If this helps you to find a solution, please click on the button "" accept as Solution"" down below this message. If you want to say thanks for my effort to help, click on the 'Thumbs Up' to give me a Kudos.

Please, try the following steps to see if it will help solve the problem.

Printer cannot print black ink or color ink or prints blank Pages.

This document is for the cleaning of the cartridge and the contacts, check the tab on the cartridge and the printer reset. "Incompatible cartridge" or "indicated ink cartridge needs to be replaced" message on the c...

If the problem persists, perform a power reset. A alphanumeric Code (example: ' 0 x 'r' C2...) ") displays on the front panel when printing. Do not take into account the title.

This model has a permanent print head, this video shows you how to access the print head, so you can manually clean the printer and soak the printhead, it's my own personal recommendation, not one of HPs, is to use the solution proposed in the following videos.  I suggest only doing this if the printer is out of warranty.

Once you get to the clock at 3:20 minutes, you can stop this video.

Разборка HP Photosmart 6510 (disassembly Photosmart HP 6510)...

This video is for a different model but it will provide the steps to move the print head and cleaning, also if you continue the video it will provide measures to remove the print head and soaking. Play video 01:24 minutes. HP 5510 will not print black and color - print head removed and cleaned.

If you have completed all the above steps and your product still has a problem, service the product.

I hope this helps. Let me know how make you out. Thank you.

  • HP Photosmart 8450: Printer cartridges

I have a HP Photosmart 8450 printer, which currently has 3 cartridges in it - 97 HP, HP 99 and 100 HP.  I have trouble finding the 100 HP cartridge, which is a gray Photo cartridge.  I do NOT use this printer for printing photos - I just use it for ordinary printing.  My question is "Is there another cartridge that I can use to replace the 100 HP?"

    Thank you!

The 100 cartridge is used only for photo printing.  If you do not print photo I suggest remove the cartridge 100 and leaving this space blank.  For the best economy printing on plain paper, you will want to replace the cartridge 99 photo with a black cartridge 96 as well.

  • Photosmart 6510 printing on thick paper

I am trying to print the map of 240gsm on my Photosmart 6510, which so far has worked flawlessly.

Just rolls do not seem to be able to take it, but HP confirmed that this printer must be able to take in 280gsm card. The printer doesn't seem to be something print, then tells me I have a blockage, and the card must be withdrawn to the rear of the printer with a few black spots stained on the edge of it.

I don't really want to pay their support costs HP (I'm outside the warranty period) to solve what should work just fine and is not due to the error on my part.  If anyone has experienced this kind of problem before, and if so, what was the solution?

    Hi people,

The following table lists the input and output tray capacity for plain paper, envelopes, cards, and photo paper for both the 5510 Photosmart HP 6510 e-all-in-one printer in the series.

Printer comes with 99 and 100 cartridges. Also uses cartridges of 74/75. Unable to find explanation in the manual. HP Chat room tells me to use 74/75, switch it to 99 for the best color. Doesn't sound right. I have to keep the 4 available? My impression is text, but I would like to be able to print the best quality photos occasionally. Anyone know the answer?

This can be simple or complex depending on your threshold of 'best' of the photo.  I will describe the different cartridges and their uses and then suggest some options.

The 74 cartridge is a pigmented black ink.  It is used for printing text and some plain paper inkjet graphics paper.  It is not compatible with the glossy photo paper and it is not used for printing on these materials.  This will be the best choice for printing text.  Depending on your printing needs the 74XL may be a better choice, it contains about 3 x the ink at 2 x the price.

The 75 cartridge is a cartridge color tri containing inks cyan, magenta and yellow dye based.  It is suitable for printing on paper or ordinary photo media and can print photos respectable.  When you print graphics that the 75 cartridge can be used to print in black in some modes because the point for the 75 cartridge size is smaller that the 74 75 can produce more nice graphics in greyscale as the 74.  There's a cartrdige 75xl that may be more eocnomical according to your printing habits.

The 99 cartridge is a photo cartridge and is exchanged with the 74.  It contains clear, clear magenta cyan and black photo dye based inks.  Unlike the 75 99 cartridge can produce the range of colors by itself, it must be used with a 75 color cartridge.  When you print the photo 99/75 combination can give better results in the light areas sugh as faces and sky tones.  The results can be less grainy than when you use the cartridge 75 by itself.  Then the 99 can be used to print text, it will be a bad choice because the dye based ink is not as good on paper for printing text.

The 100 is a photo cartridge and is exchanged with the 74.  It contains dye based ink black, grey and light grey.  The 100 cartridge can print print B & w. excellent in itself.  When used with the 75 cartridge it can provide better details in the darker areas than the 75 by itself.

Then... the appropriate combinations would be the following.  I suggest you print the same photo with different combinations to see if there is a difference and an advantage for a particular application.

74/75 best text, best for all round impression.  Best on plain paper.  Respectable for photo on photo paper.  Unless you print a photo using one of the other combinations and compare side by side you can think they're perfectly fine.  More economical

99/75 best for printing photo on photo paper.  Less grain than the combination 74/75, this will be more noticeable in clear areas like the facial tones or sky.  Can be used for the printing of the ordinary, but not really optimal paper for this.

100/75 best for B & W photo printing on photo paper or improving color impressions.  Perhaps the best detail can the combination 74/75 or 75/99, in particular in dark areas.

I have a few cartridges 99 and 100, but rarely use while I find the combination of 74/75 to suit my casual photo printing needs.  I see a difference of photos put side by side among the different options, but given one of them autonomous with the fact that it would look fine without a 'better' option to compare.

  • Photosmart 6510 "Printer Error" and all lights flash

I have a 1.5 years, Photosmart 6510 B211a who works well. Now, all lights are flashing and or my USB connected PC (Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit), or my iPad or iPhone (OS 7) connected wireless will be printed.

When the printer is turned on it goes as usual, wireless and power light stay on and displays correctly (Apps, Snapfish, Photo, copy, Scan), I can print from all devices.

    Symptoms:

    1. in ~ 5 minutes, no noise, all LEDs (displays the screen "Please turn printer then turn it on again."

2 "(Printer Error is lit above screen, lights beside screen and power and wireless) starts to blink in unison"

    printer does not print

3, every 10 seconds, a very low "short moan" noise, like something is trying to move inside the printer

    4. when power is cycled it will again be print normally for about 5 minutes and then stop again with flashing lights.

    Have you tried the following.

    1. hard reset (more than once - fired power and USB)

    2. uninstalled and reinstalled software and drivers

For any help or suggestion will be appreciated.

    Possible solution

I had the same problem when I moved the printer to a new PC. To end, I decided to change the USB port to which the printer is connected to. well, it worked! Printer now work correctly for wired operation and wireless.

Not sure if I got a bad USB port or that the cable was not seated properly, or if the USB port had no authority to provide the connection to the printer.

Hope this helps someont with this problem.

  • Photosmart 6510: Printer not found the new router

    Hello

The Photosmart 6510 says that it is connected to the network of law with a beep sound intense, works with a usb cable and print a test without error page. BUT nothing comes out when I try to print something with wifi. It remains in the queue. Print and scan doctor finds nothing. WiFi worked before changing internet provider and so the router (I guess that's the name of the area which gives access to the internet). Tried to turn all market again and reinstall of the printer.

The supplier offered to modify the number of IP printer, that has not helped. Using Windows 7.

    Any ideas?

Thought I had answered this, but it is not displayed on the site.

Now printing without cable USB between the router and the printer. I think it's helped the router to communicate the correct number of IP to the printer.

Anyway, problem solved. Thanks for your efforts!
