Photosmart 7960 installed via the USB port on the PC under Win XP Pro acting as a print server

I have a PC running Windows XP Pro, which acts as the home network file and print server.   The Photosmart 7960 is connected to this computer via a USB cable and configured to be "shared".   When I go to "Add a printer" on another PC, in Windows 7, which is also part of the same network, I can navigate to the 7960 correct, but the installation wizard is unable to find the driver for Win 7.  I still have what in the HP see basic documents that tells me how to add this shared printer on my Win 7 PC.  Looking at the support page drivers I saw that Windows 7 already has the driver.  True, but the only way, it seems that I can get to it is to connect the printer directly to Win 7 PC via a USB cable.   Any suggestions?

Apparently, the solution is as follows.  First connect the photosmart 7960 directly to the PC running Windows 7 via USB cable network.  It will be auto-install drivers.  Reconnect the printer to the PC under XP pro server.   From the PC running Windows 7 where you have installed the printer via USB, you can go ahead and remove the photosmart 7960 from the list of printers; This will not remove the just downloaded drivers.  Next, select Add a printer, and then select 'Add a local printer' (no network).  Select 'Create New Port' and click Next.  In the next dialog box, type the name of the host server and the name of the printer.  In my case, it's \\mainserver\HP photosmart 7960. Click Next.   In the "Install the printer driver" dialog, click "Hewlett Packard" and find the 7960 in the printer list and click Next.  I was able to successfully install the printer this way.

  • What is the difference between win 7 pro DSP OEI DVD and the OEM or normal Full pack?

    1. What is the difference between win 7 pro DSP OEI DVD and the pack OEM or normal Full we learned normally?
    2. does DSP OEI DVD comes with CD of instalation?

These versions are for small integrators (DSP = 'partners in enforcement service'), which usually contain a single Windows (1pk = 32-bit or 64-bit, not both as in commercial versions) and an OEM preinstallation kit to preconfigure Windows and/or integrate additional tools (OEI = 'Installation of Original equipment' or 'Integration organizational environment'). They have the same limitations that versions OEM = license is tied to the computer where the operating system has been installed initially and not transferable in case of death of the machine. • BlackBerry Smartphones No micro sd, data connection, simply to transfer photos and other BlackBerry to the computer via a usb port

Very well. So I don't have a data plan on my blackberry, so no not web email, I use it strictly for telephone calls, text messaging and taking pictures. I want to transfer my photos and my text messages sms from my phone on my computer. I would also like to transfer my ringtones if possible but I won't push my luck on this one here. I don't have a microsd card in my phone, so everything is recorded directly on the phone itself. I tried to connect my phone to my computer via the usb port but it does not allow me to go into things phone and copy on my computer. I also downloaded and tried the blackberry desktop manager, but he wants me to turn on the storage of mass media that will not help me because there is no microsd card in my phone. I want to record everything on my computer because I bought a new phone that is NOT a blackberry and I want to have my files on my computer. Can someone help me please?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Try to download and install an earlier version of the desktop as the BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.6 software.  You should be able to download it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Which works best?  Another option is to get the CD that came with your phone and install the original version (assuming you still have it).

  • Via a USB port with a network printer

    Hi all

I have a peculiar problem.  My company has Win7 and locked our laptops.  Can I install USB printers but not network printers.

I have a LJ 425 MFD dn, who worked as a champion for the last couple on my network ofyears domestic.

What I want to know is, if I can now connect to the rear USB port and also use it to print?  The machine will do both?  If this is not the case, can I connect to print, and then sign out and let him return to the networking features or do I have to restore it on the network every time I'm doing this (fixed IP).

    Thanks for any help.

    Jim

This will depend on how tightly locked down your business is portable.

To tell you the truth, you should check with your company system admins to see if what you want to do is possible before searching and mucking with equipment of the company.   We recommend that you violate your company computer policy just for the convenience of printing at home.  If its for work, then it can wait until you're on the job to print.  If you have a reason to print at home, then your company should be responsible to provide you with a printing solution that is approved.

Thing to know is the software that is installed by default by HP.  If your newly guarded work computer running inventory on the applications that are installed you could be marked for a software not authorized by your IT Department.  The only pilot facilities are a little safer, but you will have to rely on 3rd party applications provided by your company in order to avoid stepping on the toes of scanning.

You say you can install USB printers so we will assume that you are willing to take the risk and the computer is allowed to add printers custom.  You'd have to do is to download and install the drivers/full software solution for your operating system and personal printer.  Locate the drivers and the download page for your printer from here: http://support.printers.com. Once the files on the computer, and then run the installation and perform a normal USB installation according to the steps in the installation wizard.

A printer can be the USB connection or network connected at the same time.  If there are job never contradictory in the queue of the printer will just print them on a first come, first served.  There should be no need to unplug the printer from the network to print via USB after correct installation.

    Hope that answers your questions.

  • My 5520 connects to internet via its usb port

My University didn't allow wireless printers. My thought was to use the photosmart 5520 in wireless mode, connect to the internet via my dorm room ethernet connection using the usb port of 5520's with a usb adapter to ethernet. I'll just use eprint from my ipad to print.  will this work?

    No,

Printing from iOS is only supported via a (wired or wireless) network connection.

You can use Direct wireless for that matter (where the printer behaves like a router) to print from iOS on a LAN:

  • Can LabVIEW control a device series (RS232) via a USB port on a Mac?

Using LabVIEW 6 and operation of G4 Mac OS 9, it was once possible to use a USB port for control and acquisition of data of a pH meter in our laboratory. Only, we used "Serial Port Init.vi" and wired to port #0, which referred to the USB port. We connected the connector DB9 to the pH meter to the Mac's USB port via a USB-to-DB9 adapter. LabVIEW 6 could then send commands to the pH meter and acquire pH values of him using the serial port, reading and writing icons. I try to do the same thing now using LabVIEW 8.6 on a Mac Pro OS 10.5.6 and leads nowhere. The simplicity of LabVIEW 6 is long gone, and it seems to be necessary to use VISA icons. When I write the vi using the icons series VISA, three potential serial ports appear to be available. However, the vi gives an error message, except when I choose a specific of these, ASRL2::INSTR, under the name of the resource, in which case the vi runs, but there is no communication with the pH meter. I can't understand what physical connector on the chassis Mac corresponds to ASRL2::INSTR, but it is does not seem to be the USB key. I tried to write the vi using the icons of VISA USB of LabVIEW, but which requires knowledge of USB communication protocols which is beyond the expertise of this chemist. So, I'm almost at a loss what to try next. I could buy a serial RS232 card to install in a PCI Express slot in the Mac, hoping that he will be recognized and can be resolved by using the icons series VISA. However, as it was once trivial to perform this task of communication via the Mac's USB port, it seems that it should not be necessary to buy another card. LabVIEW continues to become more and more complicated, and if she doesn't get any more improved, it may not work at all. I've been programming LabVIEW on Mac for almost ten years and she became gradually more frustrating. In any case, is - anyone out there fought USB / communication series battle on a new Mac and won? If now it is impossible, no matter which allowed to pass through a RS232 serial installed in a Mac Pro card? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Ken1,

I don't have a chance to see the USB-serial last night.  I'll make a note to try it again tonight.

Dennis is right.  You need to focus on the determination of what works or not in communications.  Look at the system information (Apple menu > about this Mac > more info...).  Then select the USB item in the list of the contents of the left column.  See if USB devices to look like they could be serial port emulators.  I don't remember exactly what they are called.  If the device doesn't appear like USB Raw, it probably means that no driver has been installed.  You can unplug the unit and see what are the changes.  This will tell you if the operating system sees the device.

  • Photosmart C4280 All In One: USB Port does not work

When I try to scan, I get a message saying that the USB port is not installed. It is installed, but I bought a new USB port and still get the same message.

    Hi @MrsQ3,

Thanks for getting back to me with this information.

Have you already tried to install the software and drivers from hp.com printer? If you do not try to download the HP printer installation wizard for installation. This tool will find the most recent version of the printer software and drivers available for Windows 10.

If you have already installed the printer software, try downloading and does not perform the HP print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and solve many problems of printing software and printer.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • USB ports no longer works after L7680 OfficeJet Pro printer installed...

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3.  Before you load the printer all my ports worked (4 on the monitor, 2 on the front of the PC).  Once I'm installing all of them stop working.  The only option is to work with one on the front of the printer.   I am able to get my Western Digital HD to work on the USB port printer, but this one is fickle and only works sometimes (I have to restart to operate when it gives out).  I'm not able to use on the printer port USB flash drives. I f the usb port on the printer does not work, so I have no options.  I tried with a powered hub and it works at all.

I was chatting with representatives of HP without result. If a HUB on the printer does not work it is a useless tool for me.  I need one that has no readers, etc.  Is this a reason to return to the item under warranty?  Or y at - it a way to get this thing to work.

HP wants to tell me it's Dell.  Dell says it's HP.  I'm so confused and frustrated.

What I discovered, after about 3 years, the computers are generally obsolete.  My computer was 1.1 ports and the printer connection 2.0.  As see you all new USB components say they are 2.0, but can work with 1.1.  Long story short, after reading this somewhere, I decided that I had to upgrade my ports.  I went to Microcenter (they have an online store as well) and bought a USB 2.0 PCI Card for $11.00.  At opened her top and broke in the new port and everything works well again.  It may not be what you want to hear, but it was all I could do.  I was told all empty printer resources USB and this is why the upgrade was necessary.  Hope this makes some sense to you.

  • USB ports do not work under Vista on Satellite A200

    Hello

    I bought a 2nd hand A200.
I formatted directly and installed Vista Home premium.
After all pilot facilities, I detect that the USB ports on the right side do not work :(

There is no driver chipset for Windows Vista. But only for XP.
I have installed to test the chipsaet XP drivers in Vista, but the same problem is still there.

    Please, everyone the same problem?

    Hello

What model A200 do you have exactly?

If you need a chipset for the Intel chipset driver you can download also from Intel page directly. This t shouldn't be a problem

On the other hand, it would be interesting to know if the USB ports on the right do not work with any external USB devices.
Have you tried to connect a USB mouse to all these ports?

Sometimes a simple delicate solves these annoying problems.
    -Disconnect all USB devices
    -go to the Device Manager
-remove all USB host controllers and hubs USB root to the list of devices
-restart the laptop; wait until all devices would be installed
    -reconnect the USB device

In my case, this procedure has helped several times.
