Photosmart C4780 installation fails to Select network

Printer model: Photosmart C4780

Operating systems: Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6

Method of connection: USB

Wireless network: Time Capsule from Apple (802.11b/g/n) and Apple AirPort Extreme (802. 11 b / g) with WPA/WPA2 Personal security and local access control (MAC filtering)

Problem: Try to set up a new C4780, I installed the software on three computers HP run two versions of Mac OS X.  I placed the C4780 next to two different base in the AirPort network stations.  I have the MAC address of the C4780 in each base in white list stations.  I tried also turn off all the access control and all the network wireless encryption/security (briefly).  I even tried to connect to my neighbor networks.  In all cases, the C4780 was connected to the computer via the USB port and the HP installation wizard has been run.  'Select Network' page, the list shows both of my base stations (with the same SSID) as well as two networks in neighbouring houses.  Any network is selected, the process "in search for the network" succeeds forever.  On some attempts, a dialog box shows the network is out of range (even if the base station is the printer inches), but most of the time the "network search" process runs indefinitely.  I looked in the newspapers of the two my network of base stations and found no attempt to connect from the MAC address of the C4780.  Light on the C4780 Control Panel indicates that the wi - fi radio is on.

I don't see any explanation other than a faulty radio in the C4780.  Any other ideas?  Thank you.

I don't know why you have two airports and if they are configured to play well with each other, but...

We will use the WPS from your printer and 8 function:

Start the WPS process from the front panel of your printer (network menu). Then:

Open Apple Airport utility
Select your wireless router
Select Manual Configuration
choose Add Wireless Clients... in the menu of the Base Station
Select the first attempt, and then press to continue.
You must begin the process of Apple Add Wireless customer within 2 minutes of starting the printer WPS push button method. In fact, the order doesn't matter... you can start the process of adding on the Apple start router Wireless Clients then method push-button WPS printer.

Your printer will now be connected to your router. Now all you have to do is install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax by clicking on the button «+» Find the instance of your printer with "Hello" next to it and click "Add" when it becomes available. "

You must first complete a level 3 of the software uninstallation. I've included the steps below to do this.

    1. press the Windows key and the letter R
    2. type %temp%, and then click OK
    3. open the 7z folder (a more recent if there are multiples)
    4 open the util folder

Once you have completed the Uninstall_L3, delete all of the items listed in the temp folder. Note, you will not be able to remove all the elements, please ignore those that do not. Then please empty the trash and perform a clean boot. I've included the document «How to perform a boot in Windows» If your computer does not request it, restart your computer.

Once your computer is back, you must reinstall the printer software. You can do this either by using the Setup CD, or by downloading the software.

I did what was suggested, until he got to the point where it says it was the case recommend not removing any more items if I had intended on using the HP Officejet printer (Yes, I have a second HP printer connected to the network) anytime in the future.  Not really understand how it all works, I decided to stop what I was doing, so unfortunately it has not solved my problem.

Do I need to uninstall both printers HP before I can reinstall a?  And if I do that, is there a reason that I wouldn't be able to reinstall the two printers?  Looks like I'm asking trouble.  Bottom line... I can not install the driver.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 3100t for computer laptop, running Windows 7 Edition Premium, version 6.1.7601 family service pack 1 64-bit.  I have not installed new hardware or software.  This printer has always had a wireless connection.  The router I'm using is a Netgear 54Mbps WGR614 v6 (provided by my cable company) and the network includes not only my laptop and the Photosmart printer, but also desktop ASUS, HP printer, an Officejet 6300 series (used only for printing graphics and photos via a wired to the router) and a chip on Vizio TV.  I use Norton 360 first Edition and disabled the antivirus auto-protect when I downloaded and tried to install the driver.

Help, please!  And thanks in advance for your time and your attention.

Oh, Jamieson, it worked!  I can print again!  A massive amount of thanks and congratulations to you.

I couldn't believe it when he actually passed the point where it normally would stop the installation, but then almost at the end, upward jumped «Fatal error during installation»  My excitement sank into a depression.  He said while the installation was not successful and he needed to collect information in order to diagnose the fault.  I looked at what has been collected, and it was more or less gobblety-* beep * for me.  There was a code of 19714722 error condition, if that means anything.

Then he placed on my desk, the "Error of Installation HP - Windows 7.hta" file and instructed me to do away with the current window, restart, and then open the file and move forward with these guidelines.  I did and he basically had me to restart the computer once again, and then turn the printer off, unplug the printer, then unplug the router, wait 30 seconds and then plug the TAA - DAA and back in, I'm back in the business of printing.

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

All the best to you and yours!

OK alex, the error you are getting "printer driver has not been installed, access is denied" seems to be a Windows problem. Something on your computer prevents the drivers from being installed correctly. See the link below for more details.

WPS does not work, use the push button or the PIN method.

    Please provide detailed information gabeuscorpus.

That the software you are trying to use to set up the printer is for an older Mac.

I would uninstall the old software. Yosemite drivers are installed by the Apple updates and the HP utility must not have been installed. Monofunctional and HP - uninstalling the software of the printer multifunction printers.

Set up the ad-hoc connection has nothing to do with the router. We use the Adhoc to test the operation of the equipment and the operating system. Because you see not the printer in the list to connect to, we have to solve the equipment before attempting to reconfigure the printer to the router.

Run the wireless network on the printer Test.

Press the Scan button (it also the wireless menu button)
    Select wireless settings
Select the wireless network running Test.

Check next wireless on watch Pass and work wireless shows Pass.

    Let me know.

I'll send you another step to try in a private message.

  • Cannot connect my Photosmart C4780 to my network wireless (home)

    Hello

I searched this forum and tried to solve my problem, but none of the elaborate suggestions.

    I have a Photosmart C4780 and am under OSX10.8

Recently, our internet provider changed our wireless router and our SSID. As a result, the printer that is connected to the original network and properly functioning has stopped working. I tried to connect the printer to the new network, but failed. He said now that the printer is connected to the hp network (something) and I can't change it for the new SSID.

Could you please tell me what to do? I have installed the software mentioned in the HP website, plugged the USB cable into the printer to try to set it up, but it says that the printer cannot find any existing network (although I'm next to the printer and connected to the intended network wireless)

Fact a little kind of hard-reset on the printer can be a good strategy? How can he do?

    Thanks in advance

    Pedro

PS: The printer works correctly when printing via USB

PS2: It is not an option to return the SSID of the router to the previous

    Hi @pedroa

You say "I have installed the software mentioned in the HP website", but there is no software for the compatible with 10.8 c4780. Mountain V10.8 OS X Lion: installing and using the printer on a Mac with the Mountain Lion.

As you know, this printer has not a wizard wireless version in the front panel instead us would typically connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer and run the installation wizard.

Because you have 10.8 on Mac, and it there is no full feature software and drivers, you won't be the configuration wizard, to configure the printer. You may be wondering now, well how can I set up then?  Good question, we will restore the default network printers and the printer will have its own IP address designed for whats called an Ad-Hoc connection (wireless router). We will put the computer on the network printer and then print a report to get the printers IP address. At this point, we can access the built-in web server (EWS) and run the wireless from there. Once the printer on the network with the router, we can put the computer on the network and vuala that the printer and the computer will be on your network.

To restore the default network settings - since you have done this before I guess you know how, but for others who can see the message, here are the steps

    1. Press the wireless button
    2. Select wireless settings
    3. Scroll and select default network.  Press Yes to recognize
    4. The radio turns off (the blue LED turns off).  You may need to press the wireless button to turn on wireless

Put the computer on the network printer (temporary)

    1. click on the symbol of the airport on the upper left side of the screen Mac
    2. choose the network looking compared to the printer (we could say a variant of the name of your printer or HP setup) - it may take a few minutes to make it appear

Print the wireless network test - wait a few minutes to make sure the computer have established an ad hoc connection, otherwise the report will not have an IP address

    1. Press the Scan button (it also the wireless menu button)
    2. Select wireless settings
    3. Testing wireless access, then select.

The wireless network Test prints, search and note the IP address.

Open a browser (Safari) and enter the IP address in the URL (address bar).

Click on the network, on the left tab, click on wireless or 802.11.

At this point, we are looking at fore 'start the wizard' should be on the right side.

As soon as we will have to set up the printer to your network, you can put your computer on your own network.

Now you can add the printer in system preferences and print

Please let me know if that fixes the problem, thanks.

  • Photosmart C4780 cannot connect to the wireless network

My Photosmart C4780 worked just well, wireless, and now I can't print unless I connect it to my laptop or desktop via the usb cord.  I'm under that Mac OSX 10.9 with the Mavricks downloaded on both computers.  I was able to print from my Mac Mini, iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air all without problem, but now my WiFi network Test report said that I do not see "Network name (SSID found)".  The Configuration Page of my status Netowrk said HP network is Offline and my Active connection Type is None, but I can see my network under number of 802.11 networks discovered.  I think I just need to connect or reconnect the printer to the network but I can't find how to do this anywhere on the help site.  Can someone tell me how to connect my printer to my network now?  When I first installed it on the network, I had no 10.9 OSX with Mavricks so the installation CD works perfectly, but it does not work either.  One last thing, when I try to use the screen on the printer and go through the WIFI Protected Setup the two push button and PIN fails.  HELP PLEASE...

    Hi hisfunbox,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems connecting to your wireless printer.

I have included a document with steps on how to change the printer to a USB connection to a wireless connection. It has a paragraph for Mac OS X Lion mountain/OS X v10.9 Mavericks v10.8. The second option in this section is how to move from the existing USB connection.

  • Network out of range for my HP photosmart C4780

    Hello.

I'm trying to implement my photosmart C4780 for wireless connection. I select my network wireless in HP Setup, and press to continue. After a second or two, I get the following error: "network name" selected WI-Fi network is not within reach of the unit. I have the option again or change network. The wireless router is placed not more than two feet from the printer, so I don't think that the distance is the question.

My wireless router is an Airport express, put in place with a WPA2 passphrase.

The computer I'm in the form of installation software is a bit macbook OS. X 10.5.8

    Cordially Krisrogeb

Well, it seems I've found the problem. Do not put your laptop between the printer and the router. The printer wil not be able to sort the signals apart.

  • HP Photosmart C4780 connects not (wireless) on Mac or wireless network

Sorry for the long post, but please someone help me!

I bought my new printer a few days (actually 14th) and began to implement on my MacBook Pro with my Wi - Fi, which is routed through a Linksys router and mainly through my desktop computer (a PC with Windows XP). I used the CD that came with the printer to set it up on my Mac and it has set up the fine by USB, but when I try to set up the wireless, I get the following message:

"Device not connected: to configure the network settings for the selected device, please connect via USB temporarily." The device can be disconnected from the USB once the network settings are transferred. »

I reconnected and got the same message over and over again, so I decided to set up on my desktop computer instead. This does not work either and I got the same message on my desk I have on my laptop. Uninstalled on both computers, reinstalled and I STILL got the same message. At this point, I'm about to throw all the electronics in my bath tub and be done with them but on the contrary, I checked (and double checked - and triple checked) my router via my browser settings, fact that I know the SSID and the password and reconnected to the network through my laptop... Once again, the same message. I tried the network installation of push, the installation of the network PIN, I feel I have tried everything! Probably miss me something small, but eyes fresh is always an asset.

Can someone help me? I printed a Test report of the network so that a Page Network Configuration and settings I received both... if need be, I can post the information from my router, in order to verify to implement, but after two days of trying to implement something that should have taken ten minutes (sometimes) I'm at my wits end.

  • Photosmart C4780 wireless installation under 10.6

Well, I have a Photosmart C4780 printer, and I try to get connected to the network. I need to connect it wirelessly because that cable of three feet it came with just do not cut it.

I have no idea how to connect it. I see nothing on the networks in the software of the printer, and the printer itself menus are cryptic and buggy.

Any statement of Mac, I can find is for older versions using the real HP software. From what I understand, if I'm on Snow Leopard, I'll use drivers and the software I already have. The sole instructions of Snow Leopard I can find hidden only setting via the USB port.

Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Download the latest version of the software HP here

Run the program and first have the USB cable connected to the printer, you will come to a point in the configuration where you will be asked if you want to configure the wireless printer.  Confirm the configuration wireless and just the follow through.  You will need to know your wireless network security settings and benefit that your Mac is on the wireless network that you want to use with the printer.  It's pretty simple.

  • Once I connect my Photosmart C4780 to my wireless network, I lose everything internet.

My router is a Netgear WNDR3700v3 with firmware version V1.0.0.22_1.0.17.  I can get internet to work on my HP pavilion dv7 with windows 7 64 bit, my smart sony TV, my xbox 360 and a phone that I connect to my wireless router.  The second, I configured my HP Photosmart C4780 wireless router I lose internet on all devices.  I can connect to the router again but can't get out to the internet. What would be the printer could prevent me from accessing internet?

We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • Problems connecting my computer to my wireless network when Photosmart C4780 is connected

    Hello

I recently bought a new printer Photosmart C4780 wireless. It works fine via USB, but I seem to have problems when I try to set up with my router.

    Here's what happens:

First of all, I run the Setup on the CD supplied with the printer (while connected wireless to my network).  I am going through the different steps and after Setup finds my network settings to give to the printer. After that, the Setup program tries to find the printer on the network.  It goes very well for about 4 or 5 seconds while the printer connects to my wireless... but then, once the printer connects, my computer disconnects causing an error Setup can not communicate with the printer because I'm not connected to a network.

    What is going on?

If anyone can solve this problem for me, that would be amazing and be a great help!

    Chuck

I'm sorry to say this but there are problems between SMC routers and HP printers.

Search this forum MUCH info on the subject.

  • HP Photosmart C4780 - cannot operate wireless

I just spent 5 hours trying to implement a new Photosmart C4780, I bought for my mother.

I ran through the installation easily enough and chose to use the wireless printer. He took a series of measures, including the selection of my wifi network, enter the key security etc but at the last stage, it failed without explanation. I don't remember the exact message, but it was something in the sense of "the printer could not be completed.

I tried again and again to complete this and things seem to go from bad to worse.

    1. now, when I reached the page "search for wireless networks" it shows without networks despite Windows 7 showing at least 10 networks in range. I have to manually enter the SSID details and although it seems to work, the installation still fails in the final phase.

    2. strangely, the printer now seems not be able to start up. I unplugged it etc and when I turn it on the screen shows the HP logo with what appears to be a below progress bar. It's never happened that.

I desperately need to get this job because I won't be home from my mother to Spain for the weekend. HP support seems to be Monday to Friday only, which is not very useful and there is no way on earth she could do it voluntarily.

Any ideas on what to do next?

OK on the front panel of the printer: Setup > WIreless > start WPS > Pushbutton.  Within 2 minutes, press the the router WPS button.

This will connect the printer to the wireless network, then simply run again the HP software (Printer Setup & software) to complete the process.

    > 04/01/2010-11:24

    That the display shows:

    > Type the IP address in a browser.  You will see the internal settings of the printer.

But when I go to http://169.254.95.189 I have a connection delay.

169.254.95.189 ping succeeds. When I run a tool of command ' arp - a', I can see the printer.

The above has been done using a Windows Vista-based computer. To get a second opinion, I started a Linux machine

and did a ping 169.254.95.189. Which failed. Then I did a

    > Add a route - host 169.254.95.189 gw 10.1.6.1

10.1.6.1 where is my wireless router. Then ping succeeds but looking upward of http://169.254.95.189

    still gives a timeout.

So my main question is: how to set up printing on a DHCP-less network wireless.

And a second question: the printer is supposed to listen on TCP port 80 (http) or a magic

    necessary to turn on.

IP STATIC ASSIGNMENT HOWTO FOR HP PHOTOSMART B109n-z

The following instructions allow to assign a static IP address on an HP Photosmart
Printer B109n-z without using a DHCP server, and without using a router. The
statements can also be used for other types of printer setup.

    Necessary equipment:
    -A HP Photosmart B109n-z printer
-A computer with a wireless network card

Laptops usually have a wireless network card. Stationary computers
    usually not.

    1 BACKGROUND

B109n-z has four ways to communicate with others:
    (1) there are buttons and a small screen on his forehead.
    (2) it can print and scan pages
    (3) there is a USB connection
    (4) it has wireless capabilities.

We will use (1), (2) and (4) to set a static IP address.

    2 BUTTONS AND DISPLAY

If you're reading this, chances are that you tried to install the B109n-z and that
the installation failed. The installation may have left the B109n-z partially
set up, so the first step is to bring the B109n-z to its initial settings.

On the front of the B109n-z there is a small screen. To the left of the
It is a column of three buttons. To the right of the screen, it
is a column in addition to three buttons.

In fact, the buttons are just touching sensitive areas next to the screen. Each
button's background light that the printer can turn on and off. During the
light behind a button is disabled, the button is invisible.

The buttons in the left column are labeled with an arrow to the rear, an 'X' and
a symbol "OK." The buttons on the right hand column are all labelled with dashes.
To the market, the screen displays something like this:
    Scan
    Photo
    Copy

The background light of all three buttons in the right-hand column are on. Now press
the button to the right of "Scan", i.e. the highest button in the right column.
Now, the screen displays something like this:
    Wireless menu
    The scan to PC
    Scan to memory card

Now, press the button to the left of the menu "wireless" to get this:
    Turn off wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

This option enables the radio into the printer. The screen comes down to this:
    Turn off wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

Now press the button next to "Wireless Setup", then press
the lower right button until something like 'restore wireless settings' is
selected. Then press 'OK' (the button at the bottom left) and answer 'Yes' to 'are '.
"ensure that" issues. Now, it comes down to this:
    Enable wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

Finally, if the wireless radio is turned off, turn on the radio wireless with the help of the
    button at the top right.

Now, the radio of the printer is on, the printer has an IP address of 0.0.0.0, as well as the
printer Wireless Announces that he runs a computer-to-computer wireless
(ad hoc) network without security. The SSID of the network is "hpsetup".

    3. CONNECT TO THE PRINTER, STEP 1

Now, you need a computer with a wireless interface card. Ensure that the computer is
on. If the computer runs windows, ask for a list of available wireless
networks. If she runs something else, do something similar.

In the list of available wireless networks, you should find a named
"hpsetup". Connect you to it. Ignore the warning that the network "hpsetup" is
    situation of insecurity.

If there is more than one network named "hpsetup", one of them will be your
printer and the others can be printers in your neighborhood. Those of other
could also be the work of airborne viruses that have infected your neighbors
    computer.

    4. PRINTING CONFIGURATION

If you followed the instructions above, the display will show this:
    Enable wireless
    Wireless configuration
    WPS

Select "Wireless configuration", let "print the network configuration page.
selected, then press OK. The printer now prints a page that says things like
    this:
    IP address: 169.254.95.189
    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

    5. CONNECTION TO THE PRINTER, STEP 2

Now assign the same subnet mask and IP address similar to laptop you such that:
    IP address: 169.254.95.190
    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

The operation of bitwise AND of IP address and subnet mask of the printer must be equal to the operator AND the IP address and mask subnet of the laptop.

You need to know how to set the IP address and mask of the subnet on your laptop. If you have struggling to survive on a network without a DHCP server. But if you need an update: go to the 'properties' of the network connection and choose the TCP/IP settings.

Now open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or whatever and look for http://169.254.95.189

Now you can set up the printer using the web browser as an interface. To set a static IP address, do the following for example:

    -Click on the Networking tab
-Choose wireless along the left side
    -Choose the IPv4 tab
-Click on the manual button IP
    -Enter the desired IP address
-Enter your subnet mask (255.255.255.0 unless you know otherwise)
-Optionally enter an IP of the appropriate gateway (see INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORK below)
    -DNS leave empty
    -Click 'apply '.

When you click 'Apply' you of course lose the connection to the printer.

Now close the web browser, set IP address and the subnet of the laptop to what it was and try to connect to the printer using any IP you assigned.

    6. CHANGE NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE

If you want to change an ad hoc connection to aid in making a
network infrastructure, you need a wireless router. Ensure that the
The gateway of the printer IP is the IP address of the router in Section 5 above.

You can now install the software on the CD supplied with the printer. If you have previously installed the printer simply to connect a USB printer,
the USB cable, insert the CD and reconfigure to wireless technology.

During the reconfiguration, you will be asked which network to use. Select your
own network (that of the router to use). Do not select the
    ad - hoc hpsetup network.
