Photosmart D7460: Printing problem

When printing some elements such as greeting cards or business cards, my printer reproduces all part of the bottom of the print at the bottom of the card.  This does not occur when you print from Word or other programs of type, nor happens when I print photos.  Only on maps.

Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Hello @IreneD and welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you are experiencing printing problems. I would like to help!

I would recommend starting with a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I recommend also to download and run the HP print and Scan doctor.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

Anyone know how to do a MASTER RESET on a HP Photosmart D7460?

Please do not send me links that list the steps to follow for a different model. He probably wouldn't have the same buttons.

I just spent $ 60 + ink cartridges, but it does not solve the problem.

I tried to unplug the printer while on, unplug the USB cable, then reconnect everything put back again, nothing works.

HP can't do this no more, and I was told to post here on the Forum.

    Thank you!!

Jabzi, thank you very much for your quick response.

I need aplogize because I incorrectly titled as 'Print System Failure ' message instead of the correct "ink " system failure

Here are the steps that erased my error and rendering my D7460 work also.

The error is displayed on the screen, do the following:

    (1) press on & press and hold simultaneously the buttons print Photos and red eye removal, and then release both buttons.

(the display should say "Enter spécial key combo")

    (2) press on & release the following buttons in sequence:

    -Red eye removal

    -Print Photo

    -Red eye removal

(the display should now show a key code (do not act; you won't need - mine was PRXXFN0723AR).)

    (3) tap (on screen) the as many times as necessary to get the message across, right arrow icon

    "Menu of the System Configuration.

    (4) press on & release the OK button.

On the title banner, you should see the letters "FACTOR" and the "hardware failure status" is displayed.

    (5) press on & release the OK button.

Now it should display the message "disabled hardware failure status. Press Cancel to continue.

    (6) press on & release the Cancel button as many times as necessary to get one of these two messages:

'Welcome to Photosmart Express' or 'Ink system failure' (with the error code 00XX0000)

    (7) turn off the printer using the power button.

    (8) unplug the power cord at the same time, the rear of the printer and the wall outlet.

    (9) wait 30 seconds (really, wait too long)

Chart 10) power cord in the wall FIRST, and then at the back of the printer.

    (11) turn on printer using the power button / stop.

NOTE: If the screen displays the message "printer preparation occurring", DO NOT interrupt it.

You can tap on tools (key) and clean the cartridges, align printer or whatever it is you want to do.

I hope this is the right solution for all who have this error!

  • Photosmart HP: Printing problems with my HP Photosmart

I had problems with my photosmart for awhile. For a while, when I would plug into the usb port of my computer, I had received the error "the disk you inserted is not readable by this computer. I used to ignore the error and used to print anyway.

Yesterday, someone pushes my printer without unplugging the usb by behind. Now, when I try to print something, I see in the queue of the printer, the error message saying "communication error: the computer is therefore more able to communicate with your printer." "Turn off the printer, check your printer connections and look for errors in the printer and turn on the printer. I got it done and straightened my computer as well, but it does not work. After that, I opened the printer utility via my computer to print a test page, and it worked really, which is strange.

    Thanks for your help,

    Sarah

    Hi @stoukan,

I see that you are getting the error "communication error: the computer is therefore more able to communicate with your printer." Turn off the printer, check your printer connections and search for printing errors and turn the printer. I would like to help you today. If this helps you to find a solution, please click on the button "" accept as Solution"" down below this message. If you want to say thanks for my effort to help, click on the 'Thumbs Up' to give me a Kudos.

What is the name and the product number of your printer? How can I find my model number or product number?

Turn on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector) This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation. The USB cable should not be more then 6 feet. Make sure that the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. (not a station or a hub) Try a different USB port on the computer. Check that the USB cable is connected to the appropriate port on the back of the printer.

Check if the Mac sees the printer is connected.

Go to the Apple, select about this Mac, system report, select USB.
Do you see the printer listed?

Fix permissions of the drive on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
In the Apple menu, click OK, click Applications, and then click utilities.
    Double-click disk utility.
Highlight your hard drive / partition on the left.
Click on check and then repair disk permissions.

    Restart the computer...

    Reset the printing system:

Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer deleted can be re-added later by clicking the sign plus (+) symbol.

Click on the Apple icon and then click on System Preferences.
    Click on Printers & Scanners.
Make a right click (or Ctrl + click) in the left white side panel, and then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the name and the correct password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click on the sign to add the driver, highlight the printer +. (you may need to click the drop down menu to select the name of the printer) Then click the Add button.

    Try to print again.

If you're still having problems, please try another USB cable.

If there is anything else I can help you, let me know. Thank you.

  • HP Photosmart D5460 printing problem using the cd/dvd tray

Just bought a HP Photosmart D5460 solely for printing cd/dvd directly on cd/dvd labels.

The problem I have prints a label on a Verbatim CD Vinyl.

It is a normal 80 min CD - r but with an edge of vinyl and a 70mm print Center.

When put in a fake cd (12mm diameter) cardboard, printing is excellent, exactly as it should.

But as soon as I put in a CD of vinyl, the label is printed below the disc on the disc tray - holder, approx. 80mm below the mark where it should be.

It drives me crazy, that everyone has seen this error before?

Calibration is not help me... Also used almost every label possible software out there (Surething, Acoustica, Nero and Photoshop plain) who all give me the same result.

Yes, I think that's the problem.

I cut out a circle of plain white paper, which is the size of a cd and cut out the Center (a little more fat then 70mm of the printable area of the disc). Put on vinyl with tape adhesive tape and now it prints exactly on the label, to make it work.

The black color of the disc must be the problem.

  • Photosmart c4580 print problem

Hello, I have a photosmart c4580 running on wifi... I have two mac osx on 10.7.4 but when I print, it says 'printing 100% ' then I get a messase saying 'this printer is not responding' IV ' e removed the software from the computer off and removed the printer and reinstalled but it still has the same problem...

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Daniel

Unfortunately, the problem of compatibility makes it is a bit difficult.  The update of the firmware will fix the problem, but it does not work with 10.8.

The only way to get the updated firmware update is to find a system that uses OS X 10.5 or more.  The update utility lists Mac OS x 10.4, Mac OS X 10.5 and Mac OS X as in charge.  I suspect that the last option, although it is not listed, is 10.6.  10.6 may work, but I recommend you find a 10.5 system to ensure the update will be a success.

  • Photosmart D7460 prints a blank page between every page of text.

My D7460 spits out a blank page before every page it prints. I have read the manual and can not find a solution for this problem. I retinstalled the drivers, reboot the printer by default, etc.. There is no error message.

I had the same problem. Printer unplugged, uninstalled all HP applications, then reinstalled. Seems to work. However, I tried to fix the blurry photos, but they are still hurting. Used to be great. It looks like its back to Kodak.

  • Driver of HP Photosmart C6280 printer problem

    Hello!

I bought the above mentioned model printer, and I installed the drivers in the manner recommended by the manual. The printer works well and does what I expect from him. But there is one thing that annoys me.

The printer is connected to my home network

Drivers are installed on all (two) computers in my house.

On my old trusty laptop running Windows XP Pro, it works very well, but when I connect it to a network in other places, a svchost.exe process starts to run at 100% and to use all free CPU resources in my computer. This svchost running a process called HPSLPSVC. If I reconnect the computer on my home network, it comes down to normal loads of CPU again.

Is it possible to 'reverse', the printing software to say when I'm not at home? This situation of CPU load makes the computer run the much more common fan, which is annoying in addition to one.

I hope to have this work, or I'll be forced to install a queue shared on my home server.

    / Noralf

We have a work around for now, he must first install both files to patch the operating system from the following link: = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891 = here's the instructions on what to install the web link above: after opening the link, you need to install 2 patches. The patches to install are given below. "Download and install update 927891" & "download and install Windows Update Agent (WUA) 3.0" after you have installed the two patches, you must restart the computer and check the result. If the problem persists, we can perform the steps below. II. "HP Network Device Support" service stopped: the steps to stop the "HP Network Device Support" service are: 1. click on start, then run and in the run window, type services.msc and press ENTER. 2. Locate the service "HP Network Device Support" in the opened window of Services 3. Right-click on it and select "Stop" and close the Services dialog box. III. Add HPSLPSVC32. DLL file in the firewall exceptions list: Add 'HPSLPSVC32. DLL file"in the list of exceptions in the firewall, perform the procedure below. 1. click on start-> run. 2. in the Run dialog box, type "firewall.cpl" and press OK. 3. Firewall dialog box Windows will open. Select 'ACTIVE' option. And then click OK. 4. yet once, perform the steps above to open "Windows Firewall" dialog box. Then select the tab 'Exceptions' 5. Click on "Add program"-> "Browse". 6. Select ' "C:\Program Imaging\bin\HPSLPSVC32 HP.". " DLL' after the completion of the steps, click on apply and OK. And restart the computer to save the changes. Once you restart the verification of the system for the result and we do know the result so that we can help others also facing this problem.

  • Photosmart C7180 printing problem

So, here's a strange, my Photosmart C7180 age of 9 months has developed a bad habit to print all pages in landscape mode. I used the printer almost daily for 9 months, but 2 days ago I started to notice this weird quirk when printing multiple-page documents. I can't verify what may have triggered (this software or an OS update) because it is possible that I haven't printed documents several pages for a few weeks. I checked for the OS/App/Firmware updates and checked that I have the latest drivers and software. I restarted the two systems and reset the default settings for the printer.

I can print a single page in Portrait mode, but if I have 3 pages print the 2nd page comes out in landscape. I can print the 2nd page individually and it is fine. It happens that I print from Microsoft Word, or even if you use the Microsoft Photo Editor or HP Photosmart software.

I use the TCP/IP connection to print from my laptop Microsoft XP (even though I just checked that this happens when you use Bluetooth as well).

Everyone knows it or have one could explain why it seems to be possesed?

  • HP Photosmart D110: printer problem

I feel multiple copies and printing started to look like it when ink is low.  I put in a new cartridge and made the steps to align.  There is no error message but when I check the status of the printer it tells me the ink levels are full and it is ready to print but... it copies still look like they do with the low ink level.  A few lines of print OK but most are too light.

Well - I printed just a test page that you suggested and it's perfect.  I have nothing new since yesterday except leave him alone because I had to go to work.  Apparently it was just a day.  Thank you very much for taking the time to help me with this.

    Welcome to the community, @ausiluver

Thanks for a great post to start with!

Personally, I would say that the problem you describe sounds like a printhead problem and perhaps a cartridge problem, which should dissipate if you try another cartridge. My best advice would be to check the steps in the guide below, make sure that you have tried all the. Some steps may look familiar to you already did some work on this issue.

If the problem arises again, however, after these steps, troubleshooting, I would recommend contacting HP directly, to see if they have a replacement option for you or for a trade in option.
