About 3 weeks ago before making the error msg above, a large black ink blob appeared on my printed piece of paper.  This product for several sheets later, but kept decreasing in amount.  I continued to print & finally all traces of ink have disappeared.  2 days ago I got a msg of error on "load plain white paper. ", but the paper tray was plain white paper in it.  I have removed the paper, straightened and her successor. As a result, the msg "Alignment failed" appeared.  I went through all the steps HP online information on the treatment of the "alignment failed", including the cleaning of the printheads (the right amount of ink was on it), check the vents of cartridge, etc.  My question is: if I have 4 out of colored inks and a new black ink installed, the alignment is being affected by the old cartridges?  A msg on this appeared on the Control Panel, giving the opportunity to proceed with the old cartridges or install new ones, but be careful that it "cannot allow completion of...» "If 'old' were replaced not.  I need to replace these color cartridges or is it probably another problem, which is print head damaged?

Checked the evacuation & there is no problem, so I tried the informal solution to put the printhead in hot water.  A ran 1 cleaning via / configuration on the printer and finally aligned with success tools.  I waited a while to respond because I wanted to see if the printer should continue to work, and there!

I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I put in place already to extend the wifi of my modem still connected to the modem via ethernet cable.

Now I want to be considered on the floor and use it to extend the wifi without ethernet cable

The AirPort Extreme can extend only wireless signal from another router from Apple, so if you want to take the AirPort Extreme on the floor and extend wireless signal, you will need another airport connected to your modem by Ethernet cable router to produce the wireless signal that will extend the extreme on the floor.

Another way of saying the same thing would be to say that if you want to extend wireless using a router from Apple, you'll need two of them do... because AirPort Extreme is not compatible with a third-party modem or modem/router for this purpose.

Hello @tgrtlr , welcome to the forums there.

I understand your Officejet 6500 a is not by aligning, or print for you and I have a suggestion to use your troubleshooting steps.

Check out this guide and try the steps: "Alignment failed" Message appears on the printer control panel

If these steps do not help, and the alignment is still not completed successfully and you cannot print, you can also try these steps by Bob_Headrick: black ink does not

  • HP Photosmart Plus all-in-One: ink cartridge problems

I have a model B209.  Last week, I decided that I would take the four staples of cartridgesto used, because they have a recycling program.  I wanted to only buy black ink, so I bought 2 separate packages of the 564 Black.  Has opened a package and installed as usual.  All I keep seeing is problem Catrridge of ink: the following ink cartridges seems to be missing or damaged.  see status screen on your computer for more details.  The question is # 1 status display has not yet shown on my computer. #2 I can't even to other options on the Touchscrren of the printer.  I have read and watched videos of people who give directions and instructions on cleaning the print heads.  I tried to remove the printhead, soaking in the water, leaving back dry and enforcement.  I did these things repeatedly.  When I soak the print head in the water, the water changes color.  I hope that I have accidentally hit the wrong part of print head when I removed it from the printer.  Please help, because it's my only other option when I can't access wifi to my portable device used for the printing of tickets, Groupons, etc..  Thank you!

Your printer requres all 4 cartridges to be present, that is why the printer tells you that the cartridges are missing can may not last.

Some newer model printers, which use the cartridges with integrated print heads, can operate with only the black cartridge only.

But the B209, separated print head and ink cartridges, if not all the cartridges are installed, the print head does not work.

  • Photosmart HP B210a more: HP Photosmart Plus B210a shows a blue screen with error B8145558 and restart.

For two weeks now my HP Photosmart Plus B210a was wrong to behave. Until that time, I was a happy user, but since it says there is an error in the printer and that I should turn it works again.

Putting out voltage is actually not possible using the button, as this will trigger a reboot, ending up on the same screen as before. During the start cycle, I have a brief moment where I can access the regular menu before it shows a blue screen with the B8145558 error code. 2 seconds after it is shown, a white screen appears with the title of printer error and the message to reboot.

So far, I have cleaned the print head and the connections of all dirt and residues. I even managed to start and finish in a copy process, before it gives me the error. However, the error will come, and then it's over.

Someone has encountered this problem before? Currently, I find only 1 reference to this error in Google and not on this site. Any suggestions that I could try?

    Hi @kootstra,

From your description, I suspect there is a problem with the firmware that may be irreparable. We can try a reset, but because the printer will not stay on very long main screen until the error appears that we are not able to access the menu of support, we need to reset.

There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly!

  • HP Photosmart Plus B210 series

Suddenly, my printer has stopped printing in black ink.  The cartridge is full.  It's already happened and I just cleaned everything and it started working again.  This time, I cleaned it again, it printed one page and then arrested again to print.  I cleaned it again and it will not print black ink.  I cleaned the print heads and tried to re-aligned with the printer.  The alignment fails every time.  What has something to do with it not printing black ink?  It doesn't make sense to me that this issue would be part of the problem, but maybe it is.

All my color cartridges are out of ink.  This has something to do with the problem of it not not printing black ink?  That does make sense to me either.  If this is the problem, then I'll spend money for the color of the ink.  Printers frustrate me beyond words.  They simply stop without apparent reason.

Would appreciate any help I can get.

    Hello Catstuder,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand your frustration and want to shed some light on why the guard alignment fails and why you do not get all black on your thoughts even if you have a totally black cartridge installed.

    1. in the printer to print control and alignment to pass, it takes all cartridges to be installed in the B210. You can print in black ink only, but the printer will still use the ink contained in the cartridges of color for maintenance tasks. It takes little ink from all cartridges in the service of the print head and avoid any clogging.

    2. with the printers ink system, it only does not use black ink even though you can choose to print in black ink only. Have a look here: use of inkjet printers ink.

I propose to replace the color cartridges, and I am sure that you will have no problem. If you want to print in black ink only, take a look at the steps below:

    1. in your software application, click print.

    2. Select your printer in the list of available printers.

    3. click on the option opens the printer properties dialog box. According to your application software, this option could be called printer properties, Options, Configure the printer, printer, or Preferences.

    4. click on the features tab, click the Grayscale dropdown menu and then click on black ink only.

    5. click OKand then click print to start printing.

I hope this has been helpful, if you have more questions please let me know!

I found this informative information here:a 'ink alert' or "Low on ink" Message appears on the computer or the printer control panel

  • Vertical lines on the Photos using HP Photosmart Plus

I just bought the HP Photosmart Plus last week.  The 1st photos I printed, using the paper supplied with the printer (HP Advanced), went well.  My wife bought "Printworks' 4 x 6 sheets of brand.  First of all, I had a paper jam.  I don't know if it's relevant.   The photos I printed had 12 visible vertical lines.  He seemed separate from 12 vertical strips sewn together.  So, I went out and my HP Premium Plus paper.  It still looks like 12 vertical strips.  There are noticeable verical about 1/2 in. lines.  I also think it seems grainy.  The photo was taken with a Nikon 10Mpixel, so resolution is not a problem.  I printed out as some other pictures and they had the same problem.  I was careful about settings, choose the premium more paper and choosing the best quality.  I also cleaned the print heads.   Any ideas?

    All the:

I finally had time to shoot the print head and cleaning it.  This seems to have solved the problem.

  • HP Photosmart C309A: black ink does not print - print head prints correctly to a different printer

Black does not print. (All HP inks) Replaced the black head - has still not printing.  Tested in an another HPprinter - head works very well.

Please answer - is there a software, cabling, physical issue with the black only?  (Tried to restart the printer and cleaning already)

    Hi @KenKrieger,

I understand that you are having problems with the black does not print, you have replaced the printhead to another printer and it prints fine. I want to help you.

I'm assuming that you used the same cartridges in the print head when you try them in another printer, let me know if you didn't like it.

Given that the new printhead works in another unit, it seems that it would be a problem with the hardware with the printer and it would need to be repaired.

I have provided all the documentation for this problem, probably all of the steps have been made previously.

Documentation to solve the black does not print:

My Photosmart B209a more doesn't seem to be printing yellow. First thought was a lock, but have changed the cartridge, as it was low in any case, it is still not printing yellow. Any thoughts?

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209A does not print black ink despite trying two separate NEW ink cartridges black

    MAC

No error messages but trying to align or check colors - black doesn't print at all

No change - knew ink was low so I tried to install a new black ink cartridge - then one day later tried an another new black ink cartridge

I tried all the techniques of "Troubleshooting" listed on the page Web - align, clean the print heads, install the new cartridges, looking for trouble with the vents, etc.  I have only used HP ink cartridges.

    Hi abruce,.

Usually, it is a result of dried/clogged ink nozzles in the printer or the print head.

According to some other users on the forums, you can remove the print head (use this guide if you are unsure how: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01944580)

Make sure the cartridges are removed from the print head

Dive head in hot water, nozzles downwards. (about 1 in. of water) and leave any residue of ink to flow. This process should take about 15 minutes. Ensure that the print head is completely dried out and there is no moisture in the electrical contacts or the rest of the part.

    I hope this helps!

  • Photosmart 210 a: won't print black after installing new print heads

Hello, I bought and installed a new printhead. It will print color but not black.  They were all new cartridges when the print head went down.  the tools to say all the cartridges are full, please help.

    Hey there @LMACE!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I see that your printer is not printing black once the print head had been replaced.  I would be more then happy to provide you with some suggestions that can make things work again.  The first thing I would suggest is to remove the cartridges and printheads the printer and manually clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and the printer.  It is possible ink sprayed on the copper contacts causing a bad connection, when the new print head has been installed.  If the printhead is not getting a good connection, you may notice messages on the printer error and poor print quality.

To clean manually the printhead in the B210a Photosmart click here: manually clean the print head

If please, after back and let me know how it goes!

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m black cartridge will not print

My HP photosmart Plus 209 a, m stopped printing black ink. I've had less than a year, and it worked perfectly until last night, when all of a sudden it stopped printing black ink... All other colors work very well. I took all the actions proposed by the HP support site, I have cleaned the print heads, ran the alignments, cartridges has changed twice again (never used anything else than new HP cartridges) and still no black ink. So I searched for an answer outside the HP site and tried all the suggestions, I came across but always without success. I found, however, that there are many people with the same problem but I have yet to find a person who has solved. Please someone help me!

    Hi Steve
