Photosmart WSP 5514 stops my Dell Vista desk top of page 68 to go into sleep mode

My photosmart 5514 is set up wireless.  When I try to put my Dell desk top with Vista Home Premium 68 pending, I get a message that the driver for the WSP device prevents goiing pending and I am encouraged to communicate with the manufacturer which is HP.  I also have a problem that the scan function can only scan to my laptop and not on my desk even if both are on the same network I don't know if the two probs are related.  I tried several times to update or reinstall the drivers from HP website of HP and from the drive.  The issue (s) outstanding. I can bypass the prob of scan but not the prob of sleep.

Hi DanToz

I understand that the port is set to WSD, is that correct?

I have provided a document to print the configuration page to find out the IP address of the printer.

You have full administrative rights on this computer?

The HP 5510d is the series so that's fine.

If you cannot create a new port on the ports tab, then you probably don't have administrator rights on this computer.

You would have to contact you with the it Department to be able to do then.

You need TCP/IP port port.

You turn off the printer to see if the computer goes into sleep mode?

  • Vista goes into sleep mode automatically just after the restart

The following problem was irregular. Sometimes, other times not. I'm totally frustrated as to why it is happening and I would like to solve this problem, now and forever.

Yes, first facts: I have an Asus G71Gx laptop game with Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 M. 6 GB of memory, Windows Vista 64-bit. Do not think that other information is necessary, unless I'm mistaken.

The problem: well, just after the start/start my laptop goes into sleep mode. As in, Windows starts fine and I see my desktop with all the shortcut icons and the background, and then all of a sudden the screen goes black (with two Dim lights blue on the screen - fellow Asus G71Gx users will know it), and the power led button flashes slowly in and out, as if it was in sleep/hibernation. The led light cover mode monitor "sleep". I did the whole "all never put under power options. I've updated my Nvidia graphic drivers for later. I even disabled Hibernate in the command prompt. Seriously, I have above average PC knowledge. But it has trampled me... everything short.

Sometimes, I have to go through this cycle up to 9 or 10 times and then stops. Other days there is no question. But I still have to reboot just to be safe and to avoid the game stutter (another question that I don't know what it is, since I was the latest GPU drivers). But I can live with that.

It cannot be an overheating GPU. I mean, it's at the start and at the present time, it is cold enough to have this piece as a cooler for the GPU! Haha.

I thought about possible power supply problems. But how to test it? The laptop doesn't have it, the first week I got it. I use an adapter to put the American card in European decision-making.

It is the ONLY major problem I have with this laptop. Sleep at startup. The other two, being game stutter if I don't restart my laptop and double tapping (seems to be an Asus problem according to the forums), are quite minor and I can live with that.

Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm VERY tempted to get windows 7 and do a clean install, but Vista was not really giving me any problems. But if I know that this issue is associated with Vista, then I say Bravo to Vista...

Edit: Apologies for writing this thread Windows 7 and explore the internet forum. Don't know how it happened! Well I'm leaving here now, and hopefully this will get sorted.

After 2 replacements of mobo that apparently caused this same prob, what finally fixed for me has been updated the chipset drivers.

  • 64 bit Vista crashes when the system goes into Sleep Mode. Have cold start. Simultaneous began with the June 8 patches.

This problem started a week ago, say at the time of the June 8 fix release. The system remains upward after the stabilization of the system going on in SafeMode after cold start, close and then switch to normal mode. However, once launched, it seem (ed) as the hard drive light was permanently. I did a restore to June 8, most early I could continue.  The hard drive worked without interruption after that.  I did a forced sleep and restart and the system froze again. With this in mind, I wonder if .NET patches that were released were running somehow at the time of sleep and that he could not recover.  OR, during sleep, the system was made of updates and the system has been disabled, corrupting the updates.  I looked at the Windows Update settings and it has been set to automatically install updates.  It is quite possible that the user did not know and did not recognize there are pending updates.  Maybe updates were not correctly packed in order to manage a system from going into Sleep Mode, while they were installing. In any case, any who would provide help on how to identify the problem and fix it.  There may be registry entries need to be corrected?

Microsoft support has provided a solution.  Here is the procedure:

We can run reset Windows Update Tool and system update tool to detect incorrect manifests, files or data from the registry. Please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Launch the tool to reset Windows Update and the update of the system tool
    ====================================
1 download and run reset Windows Update Tool from the link below:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683

2 download and run the update tool of the system from the link below depending on the Type of system:

Note: It may take an hour or more time to detect and replace the erroneous data, please be patient. When it is finished, restart the computer and reinstall Windows Vista SP2.

If Windows Vista SP2 can not always be installed, I suggest to download the stand-alone Installer and install it in clean boot Mode.

Step 2: Download the installer of Windows Vista SP2 Standalone
    ===========================================
1 download the installer of Windows Vista SP2 Standalone from the link below depending on the Type of system:

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - version independent ALL languages for Windows Vista 32 bit (KB948465) (475,5 MB)

Step 3: Install Windows Vista SP2 in clean boot Mode
    =========================================
Please disable all startup items and services of third parties at boot to avoid conflict when installing Windows Vista SP2.

    1. click on 'Start', type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press ENTER.

Note: Click 'Continue' if the "User Account Control" window appears.

    2. click on 'Services', check "Hide all Microsoft Services" and click on 'Disable All' (if it's not gray).
    3. click on 'Start', click 'Disable all', click 'OK' and restart the computer.

Note: Disable temporarily the startup group only prevents the start up programs from loading at startup. This should not affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.

    4. double-click the downloaded standalone installer and follow the instructions to install Windows Vista SP2.

To restore the computer to a Normal startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal startup" in the general tab, click on "OK" and restart the computer.

If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to let me know. It is my pleasure to be useful.

The cause was not determined, but evidence tends to a disturbance in the download or installation process, with one of the errors in the event log is an error in checksum on one of the modules. With a large file, 745 meg, the mean time to failure on a LAN network is probably shorter than the download time.  The installation process was probably longer than the time that the system has increased...  Corrective actions for Microsoft could include more small download / install, not allowing an automatic installation for automatic download over a certain size, or deal with the best controls during installation to intercept the checksum error.  Duane G. Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first and this one last. Windows will remember the * last * screen size used the next time that you open the program.

    Hello Cosmicbbb,

Thank you for your message.  If you want to withdraw your option set to the option "Turn off computer", you can make the following registry edit.
Click Start > click Run > type regedit and press "Enter."
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters.
Right-click in the empty space in the right pane and select new | DWORD value.

  • Satellite M40 will not stop, restart, or go into sleep mode

    Hello
I need help with my laptop. Recently, I was unable to shut down my computer. After trying to close it through windows, the screen goes black, but the system and the light around the power button remains on. I can only turn off my computer by holding down the power button. Also if I try to sleep or restart, the same thing happens.

I think this may have something to do with the energy saver, since the symbol disappears sometimes, or it will be a red circle with a line crossed out through it on top of the icon. I also sometimes get a message saying that something in the sense of: "a fatal error has occurred, this program will end. code 0 x 57 ".

Any ideas on what is happening and what I can do about it?

    Hello

The error message "a fatal error has occurred, this program will end. code 0 x 57"belongs to the Toshiba Power Saver installed.
I think you should try to reinstall.

Sometimes my laptop does not correctly close because of some processes that are running in the background.
Usually all processes must be closed before that windows would shut down the laptop.

But sometimes this type of process can not be closed for reason not apparent... seems that it would be if the registry could be confused to the top...

I cleaned mu OS using a cleaning tool. You can test a CCLeaner. It is not bad and free.

  • What printer goes into sleep mode computer stops

just got a hp7520 as a gift. updated from xp to 7. If the printer goes into sleep mode, the computer shuts down.  currently I'm keeping the printer in demo mode so that it does not expire.  Anyone know how I can use printer without him turning off the computer in normal mode?  I talked about Noone has even heard of that happening.  I hope someone can help. Thank you!

    Hi @JNBLanocha

My stomach says mt that perhaps you have the printer USB cable connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer instead of a 2.0 port. The image below is some examples of 3.0 ports.

3.0 ports are supposed to be backwards compatible, but I've seen questions arise.

    I wonder if the cable you are using is the computer and causing problems pulling power. All I can do at this stage is to assume and to gather information. Please post back with the answers to the following questions;

    1. You have a USB connection
    2. If the USB is connected, you use a 2.0 port or 3.0?
    3. Again, if you use a USB connection type, have you tried another USB cable? It could be a cable problem.
    4. You put XP or you remove XP and install Windows 7?
    5. You have your printer connected directly to a power outlet, or you are using a power strip/bar, or a surge protector?
    6. Now this may sound silly, but you have a timer on your computer, such as the hibernate after so many minutes and maybe the computer and the printer are set at the same, it is possible the moment closures / sleep coincide.

I look forward to hear from you and to work towards a solution.

    Hi Tawny1!

Thanks for posting your question in the Forums to answer Ms.

Consider the following scenario. You have a mouse of bus universal series (USB) connected to a Windows Vista-based computer. You move or you click the mouse as the computer is switch to sleep mode. Then, after the computer goes into sleep mode, you try to resume the computer with the mouse or press a key on the keyboard. In this scenario, the computer stops responding (hangs) at a black screen:

    Just follow these instructions.

    1. Click Start Type device in the Search box, and then click Device Manager in the programs list.
    2. In the user account control dialog box, click continue .
    3. In Device Manager, expand mice and other pointing devices .
    4. Right-click the USB mouse, and then click Properties .
    5. Click the power management tab.
    6. Clear the allow this device to wake the computer check box, and then click OK .

Oh, you can try out of sleep now.

    Hope it will help!
