  Hi Marc, I have the same problem with my photo books.

  I had a photo book, that I created with Yosemite and the print to pdf option showed the images. Now with El Capitan my photo old and new books are displayed with blank pages.

  1. in library mode, make sure that the image you think you have rated 1 star made 1 star.  Select the image and then go to the metadata Panel on the right:

  

  2 Select all the pictures, and then filter by 1 star.

If neither 1 nor 2 solve the problem after three screenshots of high-resolution LR window, one without stars selected filter, one with 1 star selected and one with 3 selected.  Note that you can not respond to the email and attached screenshots: you must come on the Web and insert them using the camera at the top of the editing window icon.

  Some dysfunction in views - appear in fact 2 errors:
