"Pilot of the reader needs CD/DVD is missing..." "error while installing Windows7 from USB

Im trying to install Win7 on a new generation of PCs. I have created a bootable USB key as I have no optical drive but when I get to the Setup screen, I get an error saying "needs CD/DVD device driver is missing... »

-I'm using the USB 2.0 ports (not 3.0) and I tried to a switch port to others as some nets has suggested, but that has not worked. (Ref my Mo is a MSI Z170I)

-Ive also confirmed that my BIOS is set to AHCI (non-RAID)

Any ideas of what I could try to fix this or what Im missing drivers?

Also, when I try to review for the drivers I see only a X: drive that does not have the same directories as on my USB key. For example, I downloaded the drivers SATA of MSI and copied on USB to see if that helps. But when I try to search for it I can not even find the files. Does this mean that my USB is not detected?

Thank you

See if that helps the z170 and Skylake use xhci instead of ahci, so you will need a creative tool special iso usb.

  • CD DVD does not read by the reader of cd/dvd from my PC

guys, my PC does not read DVD discs for a while now... tried troubleshooting several times but I keep getting a message that "the DVD/CD drive works properly".. .He video plays audio CDs and CD fine, it's just the DVD; It stops after spinning for like 2 seconds... that's Samsung R580... would appreciate any help I can get a pls.

Among the failures most common is the DVD/CD drive.

If yours is a laptop, the problem is the availability and price.  It is an article of OEM available only from your PC manufacturer.  Cost is probably about $100, but generally quite easy to install.

If yours is a desktop computer, the problem is easy to solve and low cost.  About $20.  Remove all power, press and hold the power switch IT for at least 7 seconds.  Set on the side with the threads on the bottom. Take off the side.  You may need to remove the front as well.  The DVD player is held in place usually by 2 screws easily accessible.  You must remove the 2 cables from the back.  Remove the old one.  Drag another in its place.  Fix the two wires, they only fit one way.  Equip the 2 screws.  Replace the side and front on.

There is a simple alternative.  It is a portable DVD player that connects to the computer via a USB cable.  Some receive their power of this cable.  He turns around $25 and is completely transferable from one computer to the other.  Also small and light.

  • Problems with the reader of CD/DVD on the Satellite A350-12j

    Hello

I just bought my laptop, Toshiba Satellite A350-12j, two weeks ago and am generally happy with it, but I can't seem to read correctly the data DVD.

When I try to play a DVD that I burned on my data desktop PC, the laptop starts to read, but takes very, very long time.
When I try to copy the data on the DVD of my laptop, it takes forever (I tried once for 45 minutes and then abandoned) and after a while it starts to claim it can read most of the files on the DVD.
It is not the data on the disks which raises problems, cause when I transfer those my desktop to my laptop computer on a Flash DRIVE instead of a DVD, files are copied immediately without problem.

At first I thought it could be due to the DVDs themselves (I use TDK DVD + ROM), or perhaps that Vista was the culprit, but I tried the same exact discs on my friends laptop Medion also running Vista and it is having no problem whatsoever.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause, or better yet, which could solve it?

    Thanks in advance!

    > When I try to play a DVD that I burned on my data desktop PC, the laptop starts to read, but takes very, very long time.

Hmm I think this could be a problem of DVD not entirely compatible.
My laptop drive s couldn t read or write DVDs from different manufacturers.
I tested a lot of disks and now I m using TDK DVD-R.

But it of always different. Maybe your drive would not support this disc correctly, but another disk would be better supported

I think you should test it simply. There are many manufacturers different drive don t give up buddy

    Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

    Hello.

My computer does not not recognize the internal CD/DVD drive (eg. If I go to rip a CD with Media Player, it says to install a CD drive first).

I followed the frequently asked questions on the Toshiba support page, and it led to to do me a system recovery. I followed the instructions (turn off, start up everything in '0', version 0 now when the computer beeps...) but it does not work.

The model starts to beep as expected, but when I '0' let it starts just Windows as usual.

    Hello

You mean that the CD/DVD drive is not listed in Device Manager?
You see the CD/DVD drive in BIOS?
Check this box... If the CD/DVD is not recognized in the BIOS then it means that your CD/DVD drive is dead!

But if the CD/DVD drive is listed in the BIOS, and if in Device Manager, you see only a yellow exclamation mark then I recommend to remove (uninstall) the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and restart the laptop again.

After restarting again the CD/DVD drive must be recognized again by OS

If you are looking for a driver for ODD then I would say; Forget it!
The OS of windows already contains the driver for the CD/DVD drive and it is not necessary to install other drivers. In addition, this drivers don t exist.

Normally I don't expect that optical drives on laptops have same life expectancy compared to fixed players of our systems in the House.
