Pilot of the T61 wireless adapter

My T61 adapater is the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG. the driver is Version 11.1.1.11 [probably the same driver as the day I bought it]. I recently received a message from ThinkVantage saying that it could not connect to a wireless network and I might "need to configure your system to take in charge the authentication method that is used." The network uses WPA2 and I noticed in the settings of the profile ThinkVantage wireless WPA2 is not one of the options in "type of wireless security." I saw a previous poster is facing a similar problem but do not understand how they resolved. It would be logical for me to update the driver for the 3945ABG? For a particular version? Being then allow the use of WPA2? Any help would be appreciated. PS - The T61 running on Windows XP Professional; SP3.

Hello

It's always a good idea to use the latest drivers. A simple method for updating your wireless driver is to use ThinkVantage System Update. While you're there, you can update ThinkVantage AccessConnections as well. I don't know which version of AccessConnections you are using, what I write here applies to version 5.90 for Vista.

WPA2 is not an option in 'wireless security type' in AccessConnections. To use WPA2-AES, you choose WPA - PSK in 'wireless security type' in AccessConnections. Then click on the button located below this setting. As I have the German version of dial-up connections on my computer, I don't know how this button is marked in English, it might be called "Properties". To "Access Point Authentication", you select WPA2-PSK. In the drop-down field slot, which could be labelled "encryption method", you choose "AES". WPA2-AES is working on a T61, which has the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG.

  • Question about the USB wireless adapter for Windows XP

I'm trying to set up a wireless connection for my desktop pc with Windows XP. I don't see any options for a wireless connection. A USB adapter would do the trick? Looks like the easiest option.

For a desktop computer with Windows XP, there was probably no built-in wireless card. Some systems Windows XP later had these as optional.

You must meet your Dell model.

A USB dongle should work, but make sure there is a Windows XP driver on the suppliers Web site before you buy. Windows XP has reached its end of life and is no longer supported by Dell or, more importantly, Microsoft. Be careful with the continued use of Windows XP, especially if the connection to the internet.

You can install the unofficial service pack 4 before you connect to the internet which will help a little:

WiFi means wireless LAN, which in your case is the Intel pro card, so this isn't the good drivers to uninstall.

I am inclined to think that you have a thermal hardware failure, since you say that it works for some time during the first boot of the system. If reinstalling the software doesn't fix it, then you have a bad card, or even a bad system. It's a common part (intel pro 3945ag), I have some sitting on my desk, but it's a shame I'm half a piece of the world... but check to see if you can pick up local to you, would be the best way to know if yours is bad to replace just.  A used sells for about $5 here.

  • Question re: parameters of the Optimal high-speed (slow Internet) wireless adapter

Hi, I recently bought a Dell XPS 8500. The wireless card is a Dell 1703 wireless 802.11b/g/n (2,4 Ghz). Initially the computer wouldn't connect to wireless networks, however after you have reset all used to things (ip, TCP/IPv4 and 6 configurations) and ensuring that the pilots were all the I unchecked the box TCP/IPv6 and I changed the configuration of the wireless adapter and I could connect to my network... about 1/10th of the usual speed. I was wondering if anyone had an idea or optimal for the wireless network card or what settings than to change settings to get my usual download / upload speeds? I have 2 laptops and a desktop computer at home that run on the same router without any problems about 12 Mbps.

The wireless router that I use is an AVM Fritz! 7930 box.
I'm not sure if the problem is a Windows 7 problem or a hardware problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

What do you mean by referring to "reset the usual stuff"? Could make you it more clear?

You can try to perform a system restore and see if it helps.

System Restore can return programs and system files from your PC to a time where everything worked, potentially prevent hours of troubleshooting of headaches. It will not affect your documents, images or other data.

    Please see the link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

  • How to activate the wireless adapter

I currently have a HP Pavilion 17 computer laptop with Windows 7 Professional.  A few times in the past in the unit's wireless adapter stopped working.  I don't remember what I did to get it working again, then however at this time I can not activate even if I followed all the steps to change the settings of the adapter on the network and sharing Center.  When I select Connect, it simply shows that it is not connected.  Nothing I have tried seems to help.  I have a unit of Belkin Wi - Fi that works and my laptop runs as long as I have an Ethernet cable connected.  However if I disconnect the cable from the laptop does not connect via wireless adapter.  In the past he would always stay connected to the Wi - Fi connection even if I disconnected the cable.  Please give me any thoughts you had to solve it.  Thanks in advance for your efforts and help.

I just wanted to know that I found the solution to my problem with the help of a response of the same issue posted last year.  Repeated pressing the F12 key with the picture of an airplane on the wireless card.  Forgive my ignorance, but thanks to all who took time to try to help me.

  • I need to know the Freq of my HP Pavilion wireless adapter is 2.4 or 5 ghz?

The specifications for the HPE 440f does not say, it lists only the 1 GB under network but mine as also wireless adapter card and says nothing wireless.

It runs at 2.4 or 5 ghz?  OR is it the PC Wireless not cela and decides to only commicates the router and the router?

    Anyone know?

    Hello

Not too bad at all, a large number of machines still use 2.4 GHz. In my house, all printers (HP, Canon, Epson) use of 2.4 GHz. Any computer that uses b/g/n uses 2.4 GHz and my observations, ILS ALL FUNCTION properly. The card will probably remain for the life of the machine.

    Kind regards.

  • Cannot install Wireless Adapter (card NETWORK or USB key) to the Pavilion p6340a Win 7 Home Prem

I removed a work card TP-Link to a Pavilion a1300a XP Home PC network to put in my Pavilion p6340a Win 7 (64-bit) Home Prem PC.

Download and install the current drivers of TP-Link.
Installed everything well and the adapter can be seen in sub "Change adapter settings" in network and sharing Center and shows as working properly in Device Manager, but it is not recognized as a network within the network and sharing Center.

Under "Manage wireless networks'" nothing appears, if I then click on Add"then manually create network profile" "I then get an informative message '" an unexpected error occurred'. "

Suspect a problem with the NETWORK card, I uninstalled it and its drivers and tried to install a USB wireless adapter with the same exact result and the error message. It seems that there must be an OS problem or something stopping the wireless to work. USB adapter both NIC work properly when installed on the former Pavilion a1300a XP Home PC. NETWORK card and USB adapter are the current drivers for Win7.

All the ideas it driving me crazy. A simple 5 minutes on any other PC task turned into many.many hours without solution.

After many hours of uninstall re install & try everything under the Sun in many forums, I finally found a solution. Despite trying with firewall disabled at different times was the final fix

    1. Uninstall NETWORK card and USB drivers and devices.
    2. Then uninstall the AntiVirus (in this case AVG Internet Security)
    3. Reinstall the NETWORK card and drivers
    4. Reinstall AntiVirus

Tried the USB adapter as well so that the antivirus has been uninstalled and installed no. with problems.

    Everything works very well.

    Hello

If you have the card WLAN MiniPCI Agere, the system needs to install the following registry key with the WLAN card driver:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE es\Pcmcia\Parameters]
    "IrqRouteToPciController" = dword:00000006

I found a statement of installation:

    1. new installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 package
or clean install Windows XP Gold package and install Service Pack 2 update image on it.
2 copy the TICardBusIrqRouting.reg on the system, and then click the file on the system.
    3. the following window will appear,
"Are you sure that you want to add the information in xxxxx\DISABL ~ 1.REG in the registry.
    Then select "Yes".
xxxxx is the location of TICardBusIrqRouting.reg
    4. the next window will appear,
"Information in xxxxx\DISABL ~ 1.REG have been entered in the register."
    Then click on 'OK '.
xxxxx is the location of TICardBusIrqRouting.reg
    5 restart the system

  • Satellite 5200 903 does not detect the wireless adapter

    Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone can switch me to it...
Since I reinstalled the operating system (my XP pro SP2) PC seems not detecting don't nor the wireless adapter in the device under network adapter Manager.
Also the light of the flexibility wireless no longer not.
I also have problems to access the BIOS to check if the card is detected there, have not a Toshiba HW setup in Control Panel as described in the manual.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello Juliana

The question is how did you install the operating system? If you use the restore CD to install all tools including Toshiba HW setup. If the unit is pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows XP Home edition CD, you must install all the stuff of Toshiba late.

Just a little explanation about the wireless network card. Basically, if the wireless switch indicator turns not on s clearly indicate on hardware problem. I guess that the wireless card is faulty. Also check if the card is listed in the Device Manager.

If you want to enter the BIOS settings pres ESC key at the boot routine and keep it down for a few seconds.

    Good bye

    Hello!

I have a toshiba satellite 2450 s203 and a network card wireless atheros integrated - somewhere in the laptop - there.

However, I am running win xp pro and the Device Manager IS NOT to FIND THE MAP!

He finds the ethernet card and a 1394 network adapter!

But not the wireless network card!

Any ideas? I downloaded the drivers from the card wireless site but without success!

    What should I do?

    Thank you!

    Hello
The WiFi card is an option for this model for example. It is not included in all machines. You must purchase the correct module for W - lan to work.

If the card is installed in the machine, you should see a yellow esclamation mark (!) or "unknown device" If you uninstalled hw.
