  I just did experiments with it managed to record the misspelled as real and then deleted contact email address, and that seems to have solved my problem.  But frankly, it shouldn't be so difficult: we should be able to highlight the misspelled email address in the ' to: ' field and tap on delete to remove it from the list of options.  Something to think about in the future.  Thanks for the help.

  OK, you have a lot of Add-ons, I though I had loads, but I think that you beat me.

  You have the add-on Thundebirowse installed, I think that the elements are in the toolbar that provides.

  Tools menu > Add-ons and disable Thunderbrowse and I think they will disappear.
