Piriform CCleaner2.33

Is the CCleaner2.33 piriform a reliable tool to use, and is it safe?

It is safe to use quire.

But I would not use the registry cleaner part of it; like, in the wrong hands, registry cleaners do more harm than good.

http://www.SnapFiles.com/reviews/CCleaner/CCleaner.html

CCleaner is a tool to clean your system from temporary and unnecessary files that accumulate over time. This includes also rather a cleaning of the traces of Internet and PC use as browser cache, files recently used, websites visited and more. You can select the items you want to clean and also specify cookies that should not be deleted. In addition, the program comes with a scanner to register for references not valid (advanced users) and options to start cleaning automatically or the command line. (Slim version, no toolbar)

  • Cannot download Ccleaner/Piriform. Is this a problem of Firefox or Yahoo?

I don't think that it's Firefox, I have IE and it still does not. I go to my home page and type in "Ccleaner/Piriform" a list of them rise. I take the "official page" for them, but when I try to download it, or what you call (by clicking on it?) All that I get a blank page with the 'small wheel' spinning, but it's never downoads. Tried several others and eventually get a hacker "Trivio" (big mess) reset to, but can not Ccleaner at all. When I click on the 'Home' it flashes on while a second then disappears and the House rises.

  • 40.0.3 deleted profile update

There is nothing in my profile, I had. No favorites, no history, any of my settings or addons.
He was missing the icon in my taskbar. So, looks like a complete wipe and install. Is it possible to recover bookmarks?

More rarely after an update Windows could start in a different user profile folder. Have you tried stopping and restarting Windows?

If your old profile folder has been deleted, and it is not in a folder of old data of Firefox on your desktop, you may need to use a low level undelete tool as follows:

  • I can't delete some old navigation history entries in the sidebar.

I can remove the new websites from history today and they reappear. The Web sites do not appear in the list right in the sidebar of history history and they appear in the sidebar when the value "by most visited' and ' last visited'. They do not appear if the display is set on something else. They are all old and some pages no longer exist. If deleted or 'forget' that they disappear, and then reappear when the sidebar is closed and reopened, sometimes without closing.

If you want to do a complete clear of your story that I definitely recommend looking into a program called CCleaner it is secure and free! I use CCleaner to clear my history for Firefox personally.

Mozilla is not a copy of your browser data unless you subscribe to the synchronization service. In this case, you should be able to use your credentials to sync to connect your Firefox newly installed to your account. I'm not an expert in sync, so that's all I can tell you about Sync.

If you set never sync, then you can always retrieve data depend on what kind of format you did. In some cases, Windows creates a C:\Windows.old folder with your old data. In other cases, utilities like Piriform Recuva may be able to rebuild some of the files. But then there are moments where it's hopeless...

  • "Failed to process the backup file" - bookmarks JSON file

I deleted my appdata files without thinking and then allowed my trash. When I opened firefox again all my favorites have disappeared. I used piriform recuva to find my deleted files and recover the backup JSON files 10 bookmark. When I try to restore my bookmarks, I get the message "failed to process the backup file". "Files are 95 KB in size, but when I open them with Notepad that they are empty, however, when you use the Restore tool, it is said ' elements of 480", which I assume is the amount of bookmarks, I had, which means that firefox can see data. The same happens for all ten backups that I recovered.

    Any help would be appreciated.

What is the name of this file?

Firefox can only look at the file name for the number of items.

    • < number > _ < hash > .json bookmark-YYYY-MM-JJ_

The files in the bookmarkbackups folder are currently in compressed format .jsonlz4 (i.e., they show data binary like a ZIP compressed archive) and cannot be easily unzipped for access the JSON text format.
The files are compressed means that a single error in the file will make it impossible to unpack the file.

Have you checked all the available JSON backup to see if everything works?

A backup created manually JSON is always not compressed, so can be easily inspected or opened in a text editor (Notepad > "Pretty Print"), but with a compressed file, it is much more difficult.

Recovery of a file via an undelete utility is no guarantee that the space occupied by the file has not been used by another file, and so is corrupt.

The only way I know to get these cookies back would be to use a file recovery software. Below I will list those who are free and that I used in the past to recover accidentally deleted files. • How to keep CCleaner remove Thunderbird 'allow remote content' whitelist?

The last time I ran CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), he has deleted all my Thunderbird whitelist entries I would be put in place to allow a remote content.

Where is this white list stored, please?

For CCleaner v5.02.5101, here his menu items that can be cleaned:
    a. Internet Cache
    b. history of the Internet of
    c. cookies
    d. history of downloads
    (e) session of
    f. site preferences of
    g. the saved form information
    h. saved passwords

    Thank you very much!

It is the only impact I know. Used to be in your address book from the white list, but with the last version has been moved to the file prefs.js of preferences and is used as well as all the settings of your account.

I don't think that there is a migration as such as the white list database changed her e-mail address to the source of the image. Maybe it wasn't ccleaner but change in Thunderbird.

  • Firefox crashes almost every time that I try to attach a document. Why?

I just had a new PC from Dell XPS Dimension w/Win 8.1. She doesn't have Firefox, so I downloaded (version 29.0.1).

Almost every time that I try to attach a document, for example, a photo or other file, Firefox crashes. The accident occurred when I double-click on the directory or folder that contains the document I want to join. I presented in reports half a dozen incidents in recent days.

Instead of double-click, I tried everything just clicking once on the button that appears when I OPEN request to attach a document. This reduces the frequency of accidents, but did not eliminate them.

Accidents that occurred when I was trying to attach a document to an email in yahoo mail. The accidents have also occurred when I was trying to add a photo to an article I wrote for Examiner.co using their publishing tool.

I just changed from Windows XP. DO Firefox crashed when I tried to do in XP.

I tried to reproduce the problem in Internet Explorer 11, which came with my PC. I was not able to reproduce the problem with the Explorer.

    What is going on?

I could not identify a reason for the accident. Now, I try to reproduce your crash on Yahoo for the setting of a document.
Other users have reported than the update of Java fixed the problem. (reference: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../949408) Please update Java in the current version

You can also download CCleaner to destroy things that are no longer necessary and can cause problems. Just use the Windows section, do not delete anything since Firefox while CClaner because it can screw with your installation of Firefox.

EDIT: Thank you to fill out a bug if the steps above do not work
In following one of your incident reports, you can file a new bug (example: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/repor.../203cb33a-9193-4586-b7dd-79d0a2140529) scrolling up to the where it says
Bugzilla | File this bug in Firefox | Core | Plugins | Tools

Select Firefox. a new window load, you need to create a Bugzilla account to fill out a bug report. Once you have done this, simply fill out the description of the best that you can. Please try to be as detailed as possible. What were you doing in the crash, how many times it happens, etc. because this will help the developers.

  • Sync account deleted by mistake

I've updated to the new firefox 29 and to synchronize with the email as well as the former, I created a new account, BUT synchronization works ever, so I went back to version 28, but I eliminated the old account to not have conflict.

Unfortunately, it seems that I eliminated all my data and I can't recovery back.

    PLEASE HELP WITH THIS!

You chose to delete personal data when you have uninstalled Firefox?

If you do this then all of Firefox Firefox profile folders all versions will be deleted and you lose all your personal data.
You can try to get a profile with a restoration as Recuva utility.

    Recuva: http://www.piriform.com/recuva
Note that you must always keep a version of Firefox installed because alpha built like Aurora can fail at any time, or have problems with some Web sites.

If you have removed the account of synchronization on the synchronization server, then there is no way to recover the data.
If you not only linked all the devices will need you the username (email, password of the account and the key synchronization and set up synchronization once more on a computer.) S

  • How to recover saved password lost after uninstalling

In addition to uninstall a custom Firefox AOl, I had to delete saved bookmarks and your personal data. Now, I need to recover personal data, especially the saved passwords.

How to do this. Including the bookmarks saved over the years.

You did a backup of your personal data in the Firefox profile folder?

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)

Signons.sqlite and key3db files will need to have the names and passwords.

If you have deleted your data when uninstall you Firefox and did not backup all data, then you need to see if you can retrieve these data with restore.

  • Can I recover bookmarks after uninstalling firefox and data of a personal nature?

Someone in my household uninstalled firefox and personal data. This means that years of hard work, recording and filing of bookmarks disappeared. Is it possible to recover this data?

Really, this file has been deleted (without going through the trash). Unless you have created a backup on the local media or in the cloud, your best hope is to use software that Combs your hard drive for the fragments of files 'restore' them.

    For example: http://www.piriform.com/recuva

This should be done immediately, this space will be replaced gradually, corrupting the recovered files.

When you find the list of recovered files, look for those whose name begins with "bookmarks".

  • * Fixed! (I hope!) * Firefox crashes / accidents by clicking on the Browse button to upload files

I was about to put this problem here but I found a solution, I wanted to make this post so I hope that others may benefit.

I checked all the current solutions on the Forum, but none of them worked. To reinstall Firefox, creating a new profile, disabling and troubleshooting plugins, start in safe mode, by unchecking the option "expand to current folder" in files from Microsoft Explorer... I even ran ' sfc/scannow' in an elevated command prompt and rebooted my computer. Nothing.

However, I went browsing on other forums and someone mentioned a program called CCleaner. I had used this program years ago and knew that it is reliable, then I installed once more and clean Windows, my apps, and the registry.

It worked! Difficulty easy and nice I wish I knew about 3 hours ago. I hope that this has helped others out there, you can find CCleaner here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

Let me know if this helped!

(EDIT: Nevermind, the problem came back.) (Help?)

Thanks for your help John, fortunately I managed to solve the problem. You were right, it was based on Windows. I noticed that there are a lot of people with this problem and almost no solution. So frustrating! For those who have the same problem, what I did. I hope it'll work for you.

1 Start computer in "Safe Mode with network. Press F8 on your keyboard while your computer starts up, until it's in Windows. You should be able to select this option. Check if the problem still persists. I hope not. It didn't with me so then...

    2. I did a clean boot of my machine, to make this early success, type "msconfig" in the search box, and then press ENTER. Click on the 'general' tab, then 'selective startup '. Clear the checkbox "Load Startup items". Now, go to the services tab, click "Hide all Microsoft services", and then click on 'Disable all' for all that is left. Click OK, and then restart.

To see screenshots of this process, go: here. And click on what operating system you have. This will also explain what you should do after you did a Reboot own. Follow the instructions and I hope it solves your problem.

It is a Windows problem, because it mainly affects browsers the amount of troubleshooting on this subject in the browser support forums is staggering. Without what I see, I looked for hours trying to solve this problem.

I hope that this will help people who come here looking around for a similar question.

Once again, thanks to John99 and Wesley Branton. I'm sorry I may have lost your time!

  • File that I downloaded and registered is now gone.

Yesterday I uploaded a word document. When I was prompted to save or open, I chose to just open it. I made some changes to the word document and then clicked on "Save". Today, I was looking for the word document, but could not find. When I open the download of Firefox menu, the possibility to open or open the containing folder is grayed out.

I am very confused by the fact that when I clicked 'save' in Word format yesterday when I finished editing the document, MS Word saved the file. Normally, when I 'open' a document word directly from Firefox (as opposed to save it to a specific location), if I edit the document and then click on 'save', MS Word will direct me to the menu "save under" where I choose a folder to save the document in. This time, MS Word saved the file as if it were a file that I had downloaded. So I had no idea that the file wasn't somewhere safe (probably was in a temporary download folder).

The changes I made to the document are extremely important and I am very very disappointed that I lost the file. Is there anywhere, it might be? How can I prevent this from happening in the future (other than to save the file directly from Firefox)?

    Thank you

When you choose 'Open' in a download dialog window, the file is found in the temp folder. Once Firefox is closed, the file is deleted. The option 'Open containing folder' is greyed out because the file no longer exists. You can check he left trying to open it from the word of the recently opened files list.

You can try an undelete utility to retrieve the file.

In the future, if you want to keep a file, choose Save when prompted by Firefox, or choose Save as or save the copy slot after you have opened in the associated application.
