  Autour Googling I see that several pilot sites offer Win98, NT, Win2k, XP drivers for this very old scanner. Be careful when you use pilot sites and do not click on ads or links that say to search for drivers. It is unlikely that this very old scanner will work with Win7. Better to buy just a new scanner that will take in charge Win7 and XP. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  3. click on start > run Type: rename file %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto "Skype" to "Old_Skype".

  4 re - run Skype

  HI: I just bought a new computer and was dismayed to find that HP does not provide drivers for my 5400c Scanjet. I read another post referring to a member of this forum on the site of VueScan for 3 third-party drivers, but I don't see my scanner model specific it. I see 5300C and 5370c listed.  Does anyone know if the driver or the other of these would work for the 5400 c?

  And someone has other ideas for this problem? This seems to be a large problem of customer service that HP should be confronted. I really love my scanner and hate having to shell out $ grave on top of the $ I spent on the computer itself.

  Windows 7 was not able to find the driver for this scanner.

  I downloaded the following driver from the HP Web site (which is for XP and windows 2000)

  After the installation of this driver, I reconnected my scanner to the computer. This time, windows 7 are driver and installed.

  I installed and then started HP Scan Pro 3.1 by using "Run as Administrator". Run normal gave me error but this way it worked perfectly for me.  I use 32 bit Windows 7.

  I recently got a netbook, the Acer aspireone running windows 7 starter edition, I have a scanner, visioneer onetouch 8920 usb. the netbook I have has no disk drive, I plug the scanner and windows cannot load the driver.  I need help to find how to install the driver, so I can use this scanner.

  Troubleshoot Compatibility

  This can help with some (but not all the) programs/drivers:

  (1) uninstall the program, if it is already installed. Then when install you / reinstall instead of double click on the Setup file, right click and select 'resolve compatibility issues.

  (2) then click on 'Try recommended settings' and in the next window, click on "Start the Program" to install it.

  (3) after he set up see if it works properly. Note: some programs are perhaps not able to run in windows 7.

  You can try the Vista drivers. Otherwise, you need another scanner.
