Place PDF made in bugs of Quark, InDesign CS4 XP

Hello

I've just been bitten by the bug that causes the characters to give up when you create a PDF of a document, InDesign CS4 with a PDF file that is imported into Quark.

Has it been resolved? I looked at the notes 6.0.2 and 6.0.3 update and couldn't see anything.

It's quite urgent for me. If it has not been resolved, there's no work around for this?

Thank you

Ariel

Export to PDF/X-4 is the official workaround and does the job fine.

  • Cannot place a Word specific 2010 docx in InDesign CS4

    I'm trying to use the place command to align the specific text of a docx Word 2010 with InDesign CS4.

    I managed in several Word 2010 (extension docx) documents to InDesign CS4 documents using the place command.

    I have a specific document of 30 pages (which is not loarger others who succeeded) and when I use the command set with this file, nothing happens (and no text gets load on the slider for placement.)

    I tried to re - save the word, same doc pasted its contents into a new Word document and still not get the command room to work.

    There is nothing particularly unique about the file - is not any weird embedded content, just a 30 page text writtin in word document.

    Any ideas what could go wrong or how to fix it?

    I tried to restart Word and InDesign without change (and the rest of my word files can be placed without problems, so I guess it's something specific to this file.

    NOTE - re-registration in the RTF format allows the place command work but leaves a lot of empty boxes/squares (not sure whether tabs or spaces empty or that really?)

    Can work around this problem for now, but I would like to know how to get the command to place working with decent-sized Word documents (docx for word 2010 if it matters).

    Thanks for any help.

    It seems that there is something in the Word doc that InDesign finds offensive.  Especially if other docx import very well. Is the formatting you want to keep?  If not, I would try to save as text only to get rid of all the formatting. Or if it's a faulty stylesheet, or manual setting, try to clear the formatting palette styles.  Could be that the docx is corrupt?  Have you tried "Save as...". "and save it as an earlier version with the .doc extension?

    Good luck!

  • CS3 and Delphi: Place pdf in indesign

    Hello

    I'm developing a script with Deplhi that automates the creation of documents.

    I would like to be able to place pdf documents in an InDesign document. I adapted a script I found in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3013174

    I didn't define the types appropriate for variables, because Delphi does not not typed variables. There was a line in particular that I had to change completely:

    myPDFPage = myPage.place(File(myPDFFile), [0,0])[0];

    The nervous parameter must be an array of double, and missing parameters should be defined. Finally, the following worked:

    var
      APoint:      array of double;

    begin
      ...
      SetLength(APoint, 2);
      APoint[0] := 0;
      APoint[1] := 0;
      myPage.place(Filename, APoint, ActiveDocument.Layers[1], false, false);
      ...

    Original, the result of the function of the place is assigned to the myPDFPagevariable in the script, and I have problems to get this assignment work. Often uses TypeLib by as olevariants and we must understand ourselves what types are permitted and must be used, and what kind of actors.

    In the original script follows this code:

    myFirstPage = myPDFPage.pdfAttributes.pageNumber;

    Only interfaces in the type library that have a property called pdfAttributes are PDF and ImportedPage. But none of these types of work if I set pdfAttributes of this type. I'm not sure if that place seems to return a table only adds additional problems. Most of the time, TypeLib tables are based at index 1, not zero.

    But I tried

    var
      APoint:      array of double;
      myPDFPage:   PDF;
    begin
      ...

    myPDFPage := PDF(myPage.place(Filename, APoint, ActiveDocument.Layers[1], false, false)[0]);
      ...

    and

    var
      APoint:      array of double;
      myPDFPage:   ImportedPage;
    begin
      ...

    myPDFPage := ImportedPage(myPage.place(Filename, APoint, ActiveDocument.Layers[1], false, false)[0]);
      ...

    and even with the array index to 1 instead of 0 and without a clue. But none of this should be compiled without error.

    Justifications know how this command line must be or what type of myPDFPage ?

    And more generally: how could determine the types possibla of a parameter, variable, or return type which is an OleVariant in the type library?

    I found a few InDesign CS3 scripts specific documents PDF here: http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/scripting/, but no reference full of functions and types.

    Best regards

    Hi Christian

    I don't know if anyone else uses Delphi on this forum.

    But here is what I get JS - we will perform a simple test:

    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var myPDFFile = new File("~/Desktop/Sample.pdf");
    var page = doc.pages[0];
    app.pdfPlacePreferences.pageNumber = 1;
    var a1 = page.place(myPDFFile, [0,0]);
    var a2 = a1[0];

    A1 returns an array of objects PDF, but declare you it as doubles. AFAIK, it is always an array of single item since you cannot place more than one page pdf at a time.
    A2.constructor.name;
    Result: array

    A2 returns the class PDF object
    A2.constructor.name;
    Result: PDF

  • Impossible to place pdf

    Hello to you all,.

    because today, I'm not able to place pdf files in Indesign (7.04) Win XP. The German error message is 'Öffnen der PDF-Datei fehlgeschlagen' translated it would be something like "cannot open the pdf Document.

    A restart of my computer DIND change anything. Old INDD documents with pdf files open without an error message. An attempt to reload the same pdf file in the same framework fails. (same error)

    Any suggestions?

    If you create a new user account, log on to it and try the same thing, okay?

    If so, connect again to the original account and try trashing preferences (see replace your preferences)

    If this isn't the case, I think that your installer has been damaged and you should first try a "repair" install by inserting the original disc and running the installer and if this also fails to solve the problem, uninstall, reboot, run the cleanup tool (see resolve installation problems with the CS5 cleaner tool and it also works for CS3) restarts, run MSConfig and disable all startup not essential, including antivirus, anti-malware programs, help browser and toolbars, instant messengers and iTunes, reboot and reinstall. Run MSConfig again to restore the normal startup.

  • InDesign CS4 works every time when you export to PDF

    I have CS4 for several years with absolutely no problem. I create the occasional newsletter - lengths ranging from 3 to 12 pages. I created one in September without problem. Last month, when exporting to PDF, I kept getting a message "Adobe InDesign CS4 has stopped working." and something about Windows 7 looking for a solution (which of course didn't). My only modification in Adobe between when it worked and where he didn't was 1) I upgraded to Adobe PS and LR CC.  (2) I also did an upgrade to Adobe Acrobat (I think she was using now... sort of a core component to acrobat.com saw a message indicating an update was available and did not know he would start using some cloud services).

    -temporarily work around the problem of the last month, I sent my InDesign document (small - page 3) and images to a friend who created the PDF file for me with no problems.

    Now, I'm working on another ballot (which does exactly the same way) so seriously try to correct the problem. I took my search suggestions and forum-based measures:

    -J' uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign

    -I got rid of the implementation level Acrobat and uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 9 of my suite CS4

    -J' deleted my preferences files so that they would be replaced by the default system (by a suggestion of the forum)

    -J' tried to export a page at a time to see if there is a problem with a specific element on a page - nothing exported successfully, not one page in my 12 page document

    -To meet my deadline of my last newsletter (12 page), I decided to package it for someone else to export to PDF. The package failed with the error message

    -J' read that there are sometimes mistakes with lack of enough temporary storage to create PDF files. The AdobeTemp file is located on a drive with several GB of free space. However, since the package have also failed, I wonder if the problem is in this area.

    Would appreciate any assistance to resolve it. I just don't know what else to try. Thank you

    It isn't a certainty with Windows error reports, but it seems to be of type text/partner, and a secondary-pair or damaged police could be the problem. Fonts free fonts sites are often below standards.

    I'll sign off the coast for today.

  • Gradient of disappearing from InDesign CS4 when you export to PDF

    My first question ever on this forum, so I'll try to follow the proper protocol.

    I use Indesign CS4 in a windows environment.  Have a simple file I am trying to export to PDF and have done so many times before without problem.

    But now I get the gradient of the image itself endangered since the exported PDF file.  I don't know what settings I would have changed to cause the problem and it never arose before.  Here's what I see in ID prior to shipping and the result exported.  Using the base for a 1.8 PDF export settings.  Original image is in CMYK mode and has a blue rectangle CMYK sitting on the bottom with a gradient of 90 degrees from the top base.

    gradient1.jpggradient2.jpg

    The strange part is that the original image has no gradient or a feather in it, just a solid color image.  So it exports the gradient of the blue rectangle to create a fade, there simply is not blue.

    So confused.

    Peter, thanks for the suggestions, while they do not resolve the problem, it leads me to THE problem.

    Export, it was never actually produce a problem with gradients or anything else besides.  The problem was inside MY acrobat.  I have on a previous project, has enabled the internal option to replace the colors in the document with the contrast color highand didn't realize that I didn't stop him.

    AY dios mio.

    Thanks to all that you guys, stellar community!  You are in the State of Washington to the Southwest, swing, Starbucks is on me. =)

  • InDesign CS4 do not place a word document

    Hello

    I just had to InDesign CS4 installed on my computer at work. The installation went perfectly, and I was able to open InDesign files with no problems at all. But when I tried to put a word document in one of these formats:

    1. 2010 (.doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt)
    2. same formats of 2007

    He gave me the following error message:

    either the file does not exist, you may not, or the file may be in use by another application

    I went into the system to see if all this relates to this specific word file is open - nothing. I made sure there is no open files office.

    If this problem is already solved, please excuse the duplication and if possible I would like to have a link to the thread.

    Thanks for your help.

    In general this error appears when the file is opened. Perhaps the temporary Word file has not deleted properly when closing.

  • How to place an image inline with the text using InDesign CS4?

    I'm writing the first draft of an instruction manual how two for some software.

    I'm writing the manual directly in InDesign CS4 and making screen shots that I'm making progress. I format the screenshot in Photoshop and export it to a JPG file.

    In InDesign, I double-click in the text box where I want to insert the image, go to file > place, get the picture, then press on open.

    Usually InDesign inserts the image at the cursor flashing in the text, but sometimes what happens is that no picture inserted and everything after it disappears. I get several empty text boxes and need to Control-Z to get back to where I started.

    Now I can put the image outside the text box and then manually move it to the text where I want to go, however when I export the file as HTML, then I need to manually move it to the appropriate area in Dreamweaver (when the image is placed inside the text box to the flashing cursor, the HTML file shows the image in the right place).

    I was able to insert the line in file with the text to a new paragraph mark, but sometimes InDesign doesn't let me do. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

    I don't know what I'm doing to prevent it from placing the paragraph mark and the blinking cursor (which is where I want it to appear).

    This is a recording of screen 54sec of my actions:

    http://storytechnician.com/temp/idcs4-place/

    Steps to follow:

    I double-click inside the text box

    I place the image

    everything goes

    I have a few pages scroll, and then return to the starting point

    I have to scroll through a page or double-click inside the text box then press return a few times, and the previous image, I put in this way is automatically pushed to the next page.

    I go back to point of original departure, try again, and it does not work.

    I've done it before, but now it does not work. I don't know what's happened prevents him from online to the location of the cursor.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    It seems to me that the image is too wide for the frame. You can place it on the editing table, scale in the size, then cut to the Clipboard and paste it into the flow of the text.

  • You have a PDF to hold on the viewer screen automatically when exporting to InDesign CS4?

    You have a PDF to hold on the viewer screen automatically when exporting to InDesign CS4?

    If you were to upgrade to InDesign CS5 or CS5.5 and if you exported as Adobe PDF (interactive), you can set the parameters for the layout display and Zoom.

    So that, as Jongware, its possible for individual users override this option (preferences > Page Display > default layout and Zoom) the number that will actually do that is actually very small.

  • InDesign CS4 PDF production problems

    I have BIG InDesign CS4 PDF production problems.  PDF files high resolution I do in InDesign CS4 cut parts of logos .ai or display the whole logo when I see, but endangered for other printers or designers send art, too.  This problem started in the last month or so.  Help, please!

    White overprint in Illustrator is usually the result of having changed the color at a given time. If the previous color has been set for a recovery, Illy is is apparently not smart enough to know that white should not.

  • How can I get the smallest pdf from InDesign CS4, but keep some sharpness?

    I have a brochure of 2 pages, front and back with layered photoshop files, and when I do the small pdf, I need to make a file of 100kb as a customer has done in the past. The smallest, I can do the PDF is 460kb.  He'll be no smaller, no matter what I do. Of course I can enter final resolution as 72 dpi, but photos are very blurred. I have even reduced the size of the files of the photos and replaced in the document. The size of the file remains the same.  My client said that reduced Illustrator for him plus size small in the past but I don't think it's the solution.  How can I you keep some sharpness in a pdf file but keep the size of the file to a bare minimum?

    But InDesign CS4 out the file no matter what happens to 460 k for me.

    Still don't know why they got 100 KB.

    By not using not InDesign. Scott is on the right track by mentioning Distiller - what makes PDF files which is smaller than InDesign can export. Illustrator can be used (bad *) in the same way. Both methods can remove stuff that you don't need if you don't care the print quality don't care about reliable display on multiple platforms, don't care exactly how your fonts are included, don't care about the trial that blind people using screen readers will sue you and so on. I don't know what above is not in your customer file 100 k, or that things in my list above will be eliminated out using Distiller or Illustrator, but I bet that one of the people that has already been posted in your thread is known and can be talked about telling us.

    But, if you try to make your customers happy and are not actually personally invested to make the smaller PDF files known to man, and if you are located in the United States, then maybe the phrases "blind screen... readers accessibility... trial" spoken together could encourage your client to rethink this arbitrary will of tiny size of PDF files.

    Alternatively, you can just save postscript on the two PDF files and just watch the .ps files in your favorite plain text viewer.

    * I'm surprised that Adobe employee Dov Isaacs did not come tell us what it is a bad idea.

  • InDesign CS4 crashes when exporting to PDF

    Try to export a file from InDesign CS4 to PDF. That's always worked before but one file won't work. Program seems to stall or take so long, I think that it is broken down.

    There is a progress bar that tells you what the program actually does? I remember seeing it in earlier versions, and it helped identify problems.

    If not, is there a troubleshooting procedure I can work through?

    Thanks for any help

    Well, dkd. alkje; olhp [oihjl, there isn't really a set-loans troublesome documents troubleshooting procedure. If you are not yet see the dialog ongoing export with the bar of progression, there is something seriously wrong with your file or your InDesign.

    Yet, no need (yet) to resort to drastic measures. Try this: the first half of your export document. If it works, export the second half of your document. If this also works, you have a problem and the two halves. The two halves can be supported by Acrobat, just stick to the other and you have a single complete PDF, but the problem still persists.

    If one half of your document exports well and the other half does not, the part without work again in two halves to export. Repeat this until you have that one page left who does not - export and it's caused trouble. It could be a picture, an image, one placed (PDF or EPS<- hint:="" trouble!),="" or="" even="" something="" like="" a="" single="" space="" in="" a="" font="" that="" indesign="" does="" not="" particularly="" like="" --="" at="" least="" you'll="" have="" a="" clue="" to="" where="" to="" scan="" for="" troublesome="">

    If this results in nothing, he can point to a messy file. Sometimes crass and undesirable add up in the corners of the ID files, and save under could clean it up for you. If this is not the case, go to more drastic step described in the present:
