  How do you make your mic harder and get rid of the noise.

  Go to start / Control Panel / Sound / recording devices and click the device you want to adjust, and then click Properties, and then click levels.  You will then see a scroll bar to adjust the volume of the microphone.  Click Custom to enable the Microphone Boost.  Click on advanced to select the sound quality in a menu drop-down (another quality can eliminate the noise).

  There may be other controls according to your device (or there may be less, or they may be arranged differently) - but for the most part, this is the place where you make adjustments.

  If your microphone is sounding restless that you save (rather), there is problem on your Windows sound settings. As Steve G suggested it sounds like a form of blocking to reduce the noise.   I'm not aware of a way to turn the microphone off when recording video. You probably need to edit the video and remove the soundtrack. This shouldn't be so hard to do if you worked with video editors in the past. I guess that will be you editing the video in any case during the creation of your finished product.

  Safe mode disables the installed Extensionsand themes (appearance) in (Alt + T) Tools > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > general > use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these parameters/additional custom modules can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed to normal mode of Firefox to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.
