Play a voice message before receiving faxes

I have a HP 6500 has connected to my desktop computer that is connected to a telephone VoIP (MagicJack) system.  Through the MJ I can receive faxes, that part works fine.  My question is:

Is it possible to have the HP (or my computer) answer the call, then play a voice message before receiving faxes so that callers 'voice' can be a warning that they called a fax line until they get a blaireing beep sound in their ear?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

George

Whenever I click on the 'Play' button on a voicemail in Google Voice Firefox crashes. This has happened with all disabled add-ons, after resets of browser, on the 26 and 27, in safe mode and after a restart of the computer. The only time wherever I could get the shutdown problem was when I completely uninstalled Firefox and deleted all related files and registry entries, then reinstalled. That lasted about a week.

I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit, NOD32 antivirus, and everything is up-to-date. I run a virus and malware scan every night and have had no problems in this regard. The accident occurred only in FF and Waterfox; Chrome and IE work fine.

Not sure if this is related, but the Firefox icon pinned to the taskbar will fail periodically launch Firefox, which gives an error "class not found". The icon on the Desktop works fine, and remove the old icon and repinning in the taskbar, the icon of dekstop solves the problem temporarily.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: Receive faxes with a HP officejet pro 6830 w / answering machine

I had an OLD officejet model that could receive faxes even if the answering machine was not connected directly to the fax machine the 6830 manual says that it must be directly connected.  My current Brother printer does NOT receive faxes because of this problem.  Anyone know if I directly connect my machine to this model (Officejet 6830) to make it work?  I won't buy it if it will not work.

    Hello @JPJ408,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are looking to buy a printer all-in-one HP Officejet Pro 6830 for fax purposes. While the User Guide advise you to plug the answering machine directly on the back of the Officejet unit, it is not necessary.

If you have a fax with an answering machine on her line, the only requirement is that the fax is set to two rings higher than the answering machine. Most of the responders are put back on 4 rings. As a result, you would set your Officejet to automatically pick up on 6 rings. In this way, when a voice is heard, you can manually respond to the call before the answering machine to pick up. If you are not home and then people can still leave messages on your answering machine. If you have a fax to come through, do not respond. The answering machine will pick up after 4 rings. At this point the fax machine "listen" on answering machine message and if fax tones are detected, the fax will take over and receive the fax.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

  • Why should I activate my iphone 6 OFF or IT inorder to access my voice messages?

For some reason I can't access my voice messages.  I will receive a new message, click the play button, but nothing happens.

I have to turn my phone, then turn it back on, which allows me to access my messages.

    Ideas?

For some reason your synchronization with the data in the cell is declining. As a first step, I would get a replacement from your cell provider nanoSIM.

  • Unknown caller, leaving voice messages

Does anyone know how to prevent a caller to leave voice messages? Initially it was a normal number that I blocked. Now, it appears as Unknown caller and leaves voice messages all the time. I think it's one of these robo-dialers as voice messages, it leaves is just constant beep like a fax machine. I get about 5-7 calls from this number every day and it leaves a virtual machine all the time. Quite boring. I think that this beyond the normal settings on the iPhone so maybe there is an application that can do?

You can block someone from calling or texting you in two ways:

To block someone who has been added to the Contacts on your phone, go to settings > phone > blocked > add new. All Contacts window appears where you can scroll through the names and type the name of the contact you want to block. You will be taken back to the window blocked with the name added to the list of blocked contacts.

Parameters, contacts can be also blocked selection of Messages or Facetime and then following the instructions above.

In the case where you want to block a number that is not stored as a contact in your phone, go to the phone application > Recents. Watch the number (or name) you want to block and tap the blue 'i' with a circle around it to the right of the number. Scroll to the bottom of the plug contact that appears and select "Block this caller." The message "You will not receive FaceTime, messages or phone calls from people on the red list" appears with two options: block contact or cancel. Hit the block Contact to add the number to the blocked list, bad.

Block Messages by selecting the message with the contact and typing Contact thread in the upper right. Select the information icon and move forward with the same instructions as in the most recent in the phone tab.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610: Cannot receive faxes

I am able to send faxes but not receive them. I turned off in error correction, changed the fax speed to slow and auto answer enabled. None of this has worked.

I think the problem might be the way that the printer and fax are connected. I have a cable modem and the telephone line goes directly from the modem jack. My phone service is through Comcast cable, then nothing is plugged directly into the wall jack to the phone.

I have a phone on the same phone number, which is plugged into the upper Jack on the printer. The (phone) cord frrom the modem cable to the printer is plugged directly underneath.

    Hello @foxtail09,

Welcome to the forums of HP.

I understand that you Officejet Pro 8610 is unresponsive to faxes.

    I would like to help.

    Everything seems correct.

Your phone line has a service of voice mail on this subject?

Voicemail could be intercepted the fax before that the printer gets it.

Run a test fax report to determine the status of fax on the printer and whether or not it is properly configured to send and receive faxes.
  • Problems receiving faxes (HP Photosmart 7520)

I recently bought a HP Photosmart 7520 - eAll-in-one printer. I am able to send faxes but cannot receive them. When I receive a fax, this error message appears "unable to receive. I have connected the printer from the port "1 d" to my outlet for telephone service and have used a splitter to connect to my phone at home as well.

When you receive a fax, answering the call of the printer or the home phone?

What can I do to receive faxes properly?

    Hi nishalj,

If the fax arrives at your Fax before it fails, this reduces the possible causes.

Try this link.  Perform the steps 1 and 2 and then move to step 6.  The document is written for a former Photosmart model so the steps may be slightly different but you should be able to track the document.

Special attention to the length of the telephone line cord and dispatchers.

  • Can send but cannot receive faxes on HP Laserjet on Mac 10.9 Mavericks with answering machine TAM

I have an iMac running OS 10.9 (Mavericks) and a machine to print/scan/fax all-in-one HP Laserjet Professional M1212nf MFP connected by USB.  I have a phone with answering machine connected system.

I can send faxes of the HP and the Mac (using the pdf fax).  What I can't do, is to receive faxes on the HP (I know that the Mac cannot receive faxes with this machine).  I tried all the combinations of parameters without result even unplug the phone/answering machine without result.

Any ideas what I need the settings?

    Hi ChuckStewart,

It is definitely a head scratcher! I found some additional information from the following link, you use a product of Fax HP with a telephone answering machine (TAM).

I found this interesting presentation text, when recording the outgoing message on your TAM, share of voice must be at least 10 seconds of time, but not more than 20 seconds . Save 5-7 seconds of silence at the end of the vocal part of your outgoing message (message coming out would be your voice message length plus the extra 5 to 7 seconds of recorded silence ).

I wonder if you might find something useful in the document.

Please let me know. Thank you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 cannot receive faxes

    HP Officejet Pro 8600

    ================

    Cannot receive faxes.

    Able to send faxes.

Have a line telephone/answering system equipment, with 4 lights.

    I send a fax to the 1-888-473-2963.

A few minutes later my phone/answering machine equipment has started ringing 4 times, asking to leave a message.

Then I heard the ringtone that a fax has been available and I checked the printer display. I had an option:

    "receive faxes manually.

I pushed this option and the incoming fax was printed.

If this case should be closed.

  • How to configure my Mac (OSX Lion) to receive faxes directly from my HP Officejet 6500 +.

I have a Mac OS x Lion and a HP Officejet 6500 +. I would like to save incoming faxes directly to my computer, rather than having the 6500 to print them. I installed the driver of HP6500 on Mac: print and outgoing fax jobs. Using the configuration Print & Scan on Mac System Preferences, I can select the Officejet 6500 fax, click on "receive options" and turn on "receive faxes on this computer": I got him to answer after 1 ring and save faxes to an appropriate folder.

The problem is that the incoming faxes even print directly on the 6500 and are not registered on the computer.

I tried following the instructions on the manual for 6500 located here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02519721.pdf but the indications on page 57 for the implementation using the HP tell me to select the "applications" icon in the toolbar and it isn't here.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, this got me half way there, thank you.

Once you have installed the software which recommends ShlomiL, then you must enable the option Archive digital as described, which won't be available unless the device is physically connected via a USB cable. Wireless is not an option. The value "Digital Fax archiving" 'Save to Folder' and then choose a folder that is accessible in writing-world. The folder must be specific for incoming and used faxes for anything else! The 'Notification of incoming Fax' value to what you want.

Then go into the front panel of the 6500 and disable printing fax. (There is an option buried under "base set up the fax / Fax HP Digital")

Finally, create an automator workflow that automatically prints any picture of new place in the folder of incoming faxes created there are two steps. Set it to print on a printer laserjet cheap rather than ink-jet 6500 ridiculously expensive. (Or skip this step if you're ok with not having a copy of incoming faxes).

You can ignore the options useful and well-designed integrated on your Apple about "receive faxes on this computer". HP only plays nice with that.

I still hate the HP, but at least now I didn't spend $35 for a new inkjet cartridge every two weeks.

  • "Voice Message Upload Error" - creation of a personal voicemail does not work

    HI again!

    Just a note to ask if someone at Skype can help with a tech questions. Just set up my new shiny number (which does not yet!) and then tried to set up voicemail. Sometimes I can save a virtual machine but not read or save it and I get messages like;

'Upload voice error message' and 'Voice Message error reading '.

Seems to Skype and I got off to a bad start! Help appreciated and I tried this for an hour and no luck at all!

    Thank you

    Sarah

I had the same problem, and I was looking for help, but could not find.

It's very frustrating not being able to record a greeting voicemail customized because default greeting looks like very hostile. (A stern survey woman says: "the party that you want to reach is unavailable!") He said not even the appellants what number they have reached so they could be left wondering if they have reached a sufficient number.

In any case... I hit on an idea and tried it out, and it worked!

One of the buttons has two sets of arrows going round and round. It is the button to reset the voicemail for the default greeting. You wouldn't click to record a custom greeting, but I moved and that you have clicked this button, and he asked me if I was sure that I wanted to return to the default welcome message. On a hunch, I selected the Yes option. After I did it, all of a sudden I could record a voice greeting! (Press the red circle to save, press again to stop the recording and press the green arrow to play it back and see how it sounds.)

I hope this helps someone out there.

  • Fax failure - can't send or receive faxes

    HP Officejet Pro 8600

I started to get this message... fax failure that is impossible to send or receive faxes

The phone line also makes a busy signal.  When I unplug the fax machine from the wall, my telephone system is no longer occupied.

If the port is damaged or can I somehow fix it.

I tried all the solutions written.  Only, I went out and bought an EPSON Workforce 3640.  It works very well... Also, I get telephone assistance even when it is out of warranty.

I'm done with HP for now.

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium: Cannot receive faxes on 6700 Premium

I can't receive faxes unless I hit the button "accept" - well to AutoAccept is on.   He sends faxes outgoing ok.

    Hello @shamadaw ,

Welcome to the forums of HP.

I understand that your premium of 6700 does not receive faxes properly.

    I would like to help.

The communication seems to be there, but something is wrong with a framework.

If I could know a little more about the configuration, I can better help you.

The voice calls and faxes that are received on the same line?

Is there a voicemail on line service?

    Faxes have a distinctive ring?

The installation of the printer must recognize the distinctive ring?

Or if there is no distinctive ring, perhaps the printer is looking for one when it shouldn't.

Go to the configuration menu, then the Tools submenu.

    Select run fax Test.
