  • Releases of question on 2 separate, one for Playbook and the other for BB10

    Hello

    At the moment we have an application that is currently enabled for BB10 and Playbook. However, we've recently re-written the application take over much better phone interface, and we would like to submit a version that is not specific to BB10 and have a separate for Playbook version.

    What I hope we can do is just uncheck the BB10 of the current version and let the Playbook checked, then submit a new version with only selected BB10. However, I wasn't sure if this overwrite the version of the Playbook and pull it store since the release "more recent" doesn't have the verified Playbook. Is it possible to have these 2 releases by-side, but be in the same "application"?

    Thank you
    Jake

    It works as you expect it. In fact you don't have to uncheck the BB10 phones on the old version.

  • WebWorks for Playbook and using photo APIs

    Hello

    The API documentation, I found that the camera what API can be used to call the camera from an application. Thus, it can be used to capture an image that will then save the image in a folder of the playbook? If Yes, how can I know the name of the file that is the last one added to the camera file in the shared location? Please help me with this.

    Is there a way to get the photo you take with the camera.

    You must use the Phonegap Framework http://www.phonegap.com/

    They provide a specific function that represent you to get the URI of the file or data directly.

    (But if you get the data directly there is a problem of memory)

    Another way is to encode your own API in Java and add in the web works. (If you choose this solution and the success you, I would be very interested in the result)

    Concerning

    Hi garciaf,

    You are right that PhoneGap has this API for smartphones, but they have not yet supported for Tablet OS.  And on Tablet OS, you can't create an extension using Java, because it is not a Java virtual machine.  You must create an extension with ActionScript

    The takePicture() API becomes even closer now to PlayBook and smartphone.  You can see what the API signature will look like in the jsdocs found here:

    https://github.com/BlackBerry/WebWorks-API-docs/BLOB/Delta/API/blackberry_media_camera.js

    It will be the signature of the API used for both BONES of tablet in the 'Delta' version and the Smartphone 'Epsilon' version:

  • No button back for Playbook and Z10

    My request of WebWorks HTML5 for Playbook and Z10 occasionally open external web pages and at least in the Playbook there no back button during the display of the external web pages. How can I add a "back" button? I spent a few hours looking for solutions, without success. I looked at bbUI.js, but it seems not able to add a "back button" while looking at an external pages - unless I'm mistaken.

  • Product sharing between PlayBook and Smartphones

    I have an application available for the devices of the PlayBook and BB7 (ball Gunner 3D), and I have a user complains that, although he bought and installed on their smartphone, it can also download the game for his PlayBook.  Apparently the application does not yet appear in My World of App World on his PlayBook.  This is the expected behavior?

    When I tested it myself I found that my PlayBook list the app in My World, but when I viewed the application App World it offered me the chance to reinstall - I'm not sure if it was because I had previously installed on the PB or because of the purchase I had made of the smartphone version.

    Any help is appreciated!

    I just got a response from the RIM on this issue:

    «It is a known problem (purchased on Smartphone apps are not available on PlayBook).»  This issue should be fixed in the Tablet OS 2.1 version. »

    So I guess it's resolved for now.  Thanks to all who helped!

  • Sizes of App icons: do I need .bar files separate PlayBook and BB 10 OS?

    I'm a little confused by the documentation on the app icon sizes. In particular, it is possible to generate a unique .bar file that will run on PlayBook and BB 10 OS and have the correct icon size? We intend to submit applications for the Android Port-A-Thon, but we also want the applications to run on the PlayBook.

    This page seems to mean two things at the same time: you need an icon of 86 x 86 in the res/drawable-hdpi file for execution on the PlayBook and a 114 x 114 for on BB 10 OS icon. However, it is said that with a 96 x 96 icon in res/drawable-xhdpi , "conversion to PlayBook of BlackBerry and BlackBerry 10 OS will be optimized." Does that mean I can have a single code base, but still need to generate two .bar files? Or does this mean that a single .bar file will run correctly on both platforms?

    Also, I remember reading that if a .bar file did not have a launch of 86 x 86 icon, it will not appear on a PlayBook. How does that square with the above 96 x 96 unique icon?

    Hello

    If your application fuctions properly on both, the best method is to use a high resolution icon (114 x 114) for your application. It will work on BlackBerry 10 and automatically be scaled down for BlackBerry PlayBook when it is installed.

    See you soon,.

  • App playBook and BB10 - two different applications / same name?

    I have an app for the PlayBook, and I intend to publish an updated version of the app for BB10.

    I need to create a new app in App World?

    If so, can disturb apps have the same name?

    Thank you

    Hi guys,.

    The Bundle/release has been the same since the creation of the App World.  When a device hits the server to see if your application has the shoring, it will scan the highest output # to see if the model/OS are supported.  Otherwise, it will switch to the next version of highest and do the same thing.

    You can have demoulante support of different devices, so in this case show that a new version for only BB10 will not cut off users PlayBook.  When a user PlayBook is going to download your application, they will be seeing (and receive) the higher output that supports their device.

    You're right, because today, you can't target your meta - data to a specific platform.  This comes shortly, so if you want, you can submit your existing BB10 under a SKU PlayBook apps.  The number of users who would be your download BB10 today is very minimal because the devices have not yet started again, so don't have not targeted meta-data should not be too much a problem.  We will have this capability before launching BB10, date at which you can update your metadata as a result.

  • Questions about the Extension of JavaScript and SQLite

    Hi all

    I worked with some my colleague on projects related to WebWorks applications, but there are technical issues that our developers want to know and seek professional advice.

    (1) extension JavaScript & PlayBook

    According to the literature, we know that BlackBerry WebWorks Application have the ability to integrate with data, characteristics and features of the development environment Java® underlying as well as the native phone smart BlackBerry® using special JavaScript® (Extension of JavaScript) objects. So, we should be able to create® for Java (JAR) libraries and program the WebWorks app for BlackBerry Java API to call in libraries. Now, we know that BlackBerry® PlayBook provide a SDK WebWorks (Beta) for us to develop apps for PlayBook WebWorks, also means that in the environment of the PlayBook we can also use the JavaScript Extension trick to call the Java API of BlackBerry?

    (2) SQLite on HTML5

    HTML5 standard offer of SQLite for us to store data in a SQLite database format. But the SQLite file seems limited only to be used in the Application of WebWorks. I wonder if there are ways we can read these file to another application (Application Java or other applications WebWorks) SQLite?

    In fact, what I want to know is the possibility of having a WebWorks Application capable of handling a SQLite file that is received from the server side on-the-fly, and then return the entire SQLite file to the server.

    It would be appreciated if some of you can give some tips about this, thank you.

    Wowzzz

    lasterra is right about these two points...

    We have not yet published the details on creating extensions in the AIR for WebWorks on PlayBook. We are currently working to finalize the open source on the WebWorks for PlayBook SDK so that we can download on github.  The complete source code for the platform will be available on github so that you can see what's going on under the hood.

    Creating extensions in the AIR for WebWorks is very different from Java. We started to use a new architecture that should be able to provide the URI and proceedings access to APIs and placing more procedural API code in JavaScript itself vs. the ScriptableObject Java code existing today.

    This new architecture will be a foretaste of the platform architecture WebWorks to proceed.

    It welcomes more details about creating extensions in the AIR... but currently the API underlying main platform on the BlackBerry PlayBook is AIR and the functionality of an extension will be limited to what is possible on the AIR platform and its extensions.

    In the development of the PlayBook options evolve, so too will be the architecture of the platform WebWorks... I can't really say much more than this now

  • Problem of PlayBook and DIV

    Hello

    I am developing a basic application by using the web development kit and I'm running a problem with some divs.

    I have a div that displays a button, and when you click the button, the div is hidden. The button calls a javascript function that affects the hidden div visibility.

    The code works fine when I test it in IE, Firefox and Chrome, however, when I download the playbook Simulator, by clicking on the button has no effect, that that is the div become hidden.

    Anyone has any suggestions as to why this might be?

    Thank you!

    I have the same version of Simulator.

    At this stage, it is difficult to determine what went wrong, when you try to implement your example.

    For what it's worth, here's a zip of my implementation of your exact example. Maybe you can use it to understand what is the problem with yours?

  • PlayBook and Blackberry OS 10

    What will be the Playbook get Blackberry OS 10 - I couldn't find a roadmap for this?

    also will be the version of the Blackberry OS 10 function Cascades playbook?

    As says JSanders, yes he will get it, and yes it will have of the Cascades. After all, the Cascades is basically an integral part of the BB10 experience.

    As for the original of your question 'when', there is no better answer than simply "after BB10 phones launch, and RIM has had enough time to adapt BB10 for the PlayBook. We can make assumptions if it could be two months or six, but until we are much closer to the time it is just speculation.

  • Versions app playBook and approval process problem.

    Hello

    my app (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/32722?lang=en) has been approved and submitted to App World March 22, version 1.1.
    After this new 0.9.4 SDK came out with permissions function.
    My application uses the file system, so I simply complied with this new SDK and added to the review (version 1.2).
    But right now it's still under discussion with the status "waiting for Test House"(plus d'un mois déjà). "»
    PlayBook users now download app v1.1 of App World and it turns out that the app does not work on devices, because of the old SDK.
    So, should I remove my App World app or just wait for the approval of the v1.2?

    Hi bvb_infinity,

    If the application does not work, it may be a good idea to take it down while the new version is in the approval process, but more than a month waiting on a new version is not normal.

    I checked the State of it and push it along.  It will take a few hours to be propagated in the App World, but in the next day or users should start to download 1.2 or get update notifications (if they download 1.1).

  • BlackBerry Bold 9700 and SQLite, DatabaseIOException

    I developed an Application for the Blackberry Storm with Api 5. He make some insertions in a SQLite database and read them to show in a picturescrollField. No problem at all.

    The code is as simple as this:

    HI fastidias,

    I think you try to create or open a .db (sqlite) to the memory of the device file.

    There is a problem with 5.0 OS Bold (9700) it will not access the device memory .db file.

    If you attempt to run the same on Strom (Simulator even) it will work.

    Resolution: Make sure to create/access your .db on SD card file only. espicially for "BOLD" devices.

    Please let us know the results by changing the path to SD card and also on Strom.

  • air and sqlite - accumulation of results problem

    Hello

    I had problem with sqlite in air.

    The problem is that sqlStmt.getResult () .data is collecting data from Select statements separate, when there are separate results. As in this example where I call the function "select" once and AFTER this result I call again with different query.

    public void select(q:String):void {}

    Conn.Open (DBFile);

    sqlStmt.addEventListener (SQLEvent.RESULT, selectComplete);

    sqlStmt.text = q;

    sqlStmt.execute ();

    }

    private void selectComplete(e:SQLEvent):void {}

    oSqlReturn = sqlStmt.getResult () .data;          It's here sqlStmt.getResult () .data remembers previous results and adds those current in the table.

    Conn.Close ();                                                  but here sqlStmt.getResult () is null

    sqlStmt.removeEventListener (SQLEvent.RESULT, selectComplete);

    }

    So after the second returns Select I'm .data (sqlStmt.getResult with results of the first and the second statement).

    Maybe one of you had a similar problem and is able to help me with this.

    Thanks for help. It is recommended to use different instances of SQLStatement. But it wasn't the case.

    I changed to an asynchronious connection and I added SQLMode and now it works.

    So instead of

    Conn.Open (DBFile)

    now, I got this:

    conn.openAsync (dbFile, SQLMode.UPDATE);

    So I think that the problem was because I was listening to events connect synchronious result.
