Port before 1723 Linksys WRT1900AC (VPN)

I can't establish a VPN tunnel to my desktop using PPTP (built in vpn windows) machine.

I have a Linksys WRT1900AC, latest firmware (1.1.8.164461)

I implemented the single port forwarding (this machine has a static ip address below):

I can ping the machine externally, but when I telnet as the machine and the port number (EXTERNAL telnet. IP 1723), his look is no (external).

I have disabled the windows firewall (although all ports and the gre are defined in the case). I even disabled the firewall of the router to test and helped passtrhough:

I did the research strongly, and the only thing I can think is a NAT behind NAT issue? (Not too well known in network). But I'm not on a DSL modem is a modem cable (Charter company).

I'm stuck, I know that the VPN tunnel does not work because the port is not listening, but how can I get?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Yes, the IP address that starts with 192.168.x.x is a private LAN and non routable IP address.

Your ISP Modem must also be a router with a DHCP server.

Two Options:

  1. Configure the Modem for Bridge Mode or DMZ
  2. Configure the same port forwarding rule in the modem to the IP address of the WRT1900AC (192.168.44.x). If the modem passes to the WRT1900AC which redirects to the PPTP in Windows 8 Server.

Hello, I have laptop Aspire R5 - 471T - 71W with the NIC of the Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wireless. I have the Linksys WRT1900AC wireless router configuration to support the chain of 80 MHz, I have the latest Firmware & drivers for installed devices. Run Win10 pro on the Aspire. Even in the same room that the WRT1900AC router, longs it reached only 802.11n connection speed. How will I know if I'm actually in 802.11ac and Win10 falsely reported my connection speed using the details of the network & sharing Panel as 300Mbps?

    Hello Jordan,.

Thanks for the pointer... I had two bands with separate SSID. Channels of communication were also in automatic. What I didn't have was the network Mode in the joint framework. Documentation of Linksys seems to be lacking on how these parameters affect the configuration of the WRT1900AC AC speed.

    I am now at 866,3 Mbit/s.

Thank you for your prompt and accurate diagnosis of the root cause.

  • Router Linksys WRT1900ac - unable to access the USB drive shared on the WiFi 5 GHz

    Hello

I have a strange problem. I use my Linksys WRT1900ac for almost a year and it works great. There is a USB hard drive plugged into it and I have no problem to access the data. I brought a new desktop computer that is compatible 5 GHz. All my other devices are connected trought 2.4 GHz.

When I connect my computer to the 5 GHz WiFi network, I have access to the internet and any other player shared the router. It I connect it to the network 2, 4 GHz, it works. The 2.4 and 5 GHZ networks have the same configuration. The only difference is the SSID. I added 5g at the ent of the 5 GHz one.

I really don't understand why I can't access the shared drive of the 5 GHz network and it works on the 2, 4 GHz. I forgot something?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

It could be that when you connect to the 5 GHz network, your PC is set to public and therefore discovery network is disabled, then you are not able to see the drive.  Just throw it out there.

  • Lack of network of 2.4 Ghz on Linksys WRT1900ACS

I set up my new Linksys WRT1900ACS yesterday.

Originally, I created two networks Joy_5 and Joy_2.4. Everything worked.

My Fitbit balance don't like underscores in SSID so I changed the two networks to joy.

Since then, I am unable to do * nothing * frequency of 2.4 Ghz.

I did a factory reset, and I tried all channels. The interface seems to think that there is a network on the band but can see no external device (I've tried laptops and phones).

I've attached a screenshot of the current settings.

Joy2 network (the current name of the 2.4 Ghz network) cannot be seen by any device (even when right next to the router).

I don't know what else to try. It is currently the choice between return the router as defective DD or WRT giving a go...

I does look like it is defective.

Some wireless devices will be confuse previous wireless networks to which they connect. In general, you can get them to forget or remove networks remembers previous. Rename the SSID something completely different should circumvent the requirement of Forget.

  • Linksys WRT1900AC bad speed on 5 GHz network

I have been using the Linksys WRT1900AC for several months now and the speeds used 20-30Mbps network 2.4 GHz and 80 - 100 Mbps on the 5 GHz network. But recently, the speed on the 5 GHz network are only able to go up to 20Mbps and turns usually around 10 Mbps. However, the 2.4 GHz network keeps always between 20-30Mbps.

I tried everything but the 5 GHz network and I still cannot improve for it. Any suggestions?

Just info by addition, the modem I use also, forwards compatible speeds of 100 Mbps. I tested it and it is always gives 100 Mbps speeeds.

    Thank you.

    Hi @haoquan5,.

He must have a faster speed when connected wireless to the router. I suggest to configure prioritization of media and set the speed at which you acquired your provider of Internet Service in Kbps. Then it is better to Support WMM commissioning and click OK.

  • Linksys wrt1900ac - FTP address changing constanty - it drives me crazy!

    Hello!

I enabled the FTP server. Everything works fine, BUT:

How can I stop the router from its address of the FTP server constantly evolving? This is the first 79.222.11.35:21, then after a few days 79.222.18.68:21 and so on.

Every day is different, which means that it is difficult to work with. This behavior is costing me a lot of nerves and brings a lot of trouble. I have stock for customers on the hard disk that is attached to the wrt1900 and I myself can not access data when I need it. The irony is - I bought the router due to its internal functioning of the FTP server, but now - it is unusable.

No idea how can I stop this?

    concerning

PS: I do not know if this is relevant: the hard drive is powered by USB and goes into standby mode if you do not - I like this behavior.

Yes all I KNOW with the Linksys Firmware Ver.1.1.8.161917 the FTP server does not allow access to the WAN (Internet)

    2. which means I need a ftp server or NAS extra homemade for that?

You can flash OpenWRT McWRT and have access to the server FTP WAN on the WRT1900AC

    3. the Linksys WRT1900AC supports the DynDNS.org, TZO.com suppliers and NO - IP.com . Which means that I have TO use these providers and nothing else?

Yes, but with OpenWRT McWRT you can use any provider.

Use the well known to start default settings. I recommend only change the SSID and passwords of wireless security until you become more familiar with it.

Wireless information is not provided in the router, the user interface, but you can get that from the connected devices.

    Finally a resolution...

I tried running an ePrint of New York telephone, and it worked, but still no luck wirelessly from the PC printing.

He said that the WiFi was indeed working.  So, I did a search for new firmware and found that there was one in April of this year (2016).  Downloaded and took a chance on install.  To my amazement, it is actually installed on the printer without any connection "connected".  Who told me that there is an existing wireless link.

Once the install is complete firmware, I tried to print a worksheet Excel from the PC, and it actually printed!  I have to assume there was something in the formware upgrade which allowed the router from LinkSys (WRT1900AC) to communicate fully and to work with the PC.  The router was published in 2014, so maybe it was.

In any event, everything is in fully working again.

Man y thanks to all who have shared their data entry.  I hope this could help someone with a similar problem in the future.

    Thanks again!

  • Problems with my 4 port Gigabit Security Router with VPN

OK, I got a wireless router and I have a Web site hosted by 1and1.com and I could connect my fine site. But recently I got the 4 port Gigabit Security Router with VPN and since then I have not been able to connect to it even, I started my own ftp server it always blocks and it will capture everything until she tries to recover the files, then it expires just after a while

What is the model number of your device? If you have a Web server and an FTP server behind the router, you will need to transfer the ports used by the said request. Ports TCP 80 and TCP 21.

  • What are the ports used by the Cisco VPN Client?

    Hello

I need to open my outgoing traffic on my firewall to allow two interns (LAN) Cisco VPN Client to connect to their Internet virtual private network.

I already opened the port 500/UDP, but they are not able to connect. If I open all outgoing ports, they can connect.

What are the ports used by the Cisco VPN Client?

    Thank you

    You need to open:

    UDP 500

    ESP protocol

You must also open the UDP 4500 port (if using NAT - T).

In addition, if the clients are connecting to a VPN 3000 Concentrator series and it is configured for all other options of NAT-transparency, corresponding ports must be open. By default:

    1. If using IPSec over TCP 10000, then open TCP 10000.

    2. If using IPSec over UDP 10000, open UDP 1000.

  • Cisco Linksys RV082 VPN router Port Translation

    Hi all

We have a router RV082 and we try to do port forwarding.

    For example:

    88.123.2.5:80 > 192.168.1.10:2334

    88.123.2.5:81 > 192.168.1.10:2335

However this does not seem to be possible because I can choose only the source port and IP address of destination unlike the RVS4000.

  • E4200: Port before releasing for WOL?

Some routers are capable of transmitting to broadcast directly by sending a port to 192.168.1.255, the other I was able to trap by transmitting to 192.168.1.254, and then editing the arp with 192.168.1.254 table <->ff: ff: ff: ff: ff: ff. Is there a way I can edit the E4200 arp table? Is there a way to telnet in or get a console connection?

I activated successfully WOL through the E4200. My guess is that it works with most of the other Linksys routers. First, however, I would ask that Cisco has just enable this through their Web UI, this clearly isn't a big deal and a simple update (modification of javascript is all it takes). Please Cisco, do right by your customers.

First, I created a port rule for port 9 UDP to *.254 forward (for most of you * will be 192.168.1).

Then, I went on the button "Booking DHCP" and filled the form to "Manually add Client." My client called "wol" (yours can be anything). My etait.254 assigned ip address and the MAC address can be anything, you can simply copy and paste a MAC address that is already on the page and change the last digit...

When you click on submit, the form is validated by Javascript; the form is not actually submitted until you press the "Save Settings" button.

Before you save the settings, I activated the plugin Firefox "Tamper Data". This allowed me to change the form POST request before you actually send to the webserver built into the router. It is a little messy, but simply replace the MAC address that is appropriate in the field of the new customer.

    Presto!

It's too bad that there is a silent Javascript validation, blocking a very useful feature for this router. A feature which can clearly already handled by the firmware.

Once again, please do right by your customers, Cisco.

    Enjoy,

    Matt

PS - This method could have an extra step. I will try using Tamper Data for entrer.255 in port forwarding form directly when I get a chance. If someone is able to do this, let us know!

  • WRT1900AC VPN...

I see options passthtough VPN is this router, but no provision for VPN from the internet.  Has it been to see it in the near future (without having to go to third party firmware)?

Other routers in this class have supported VPN, but done wrong.  I bought a netgear nighthawk before getting the WRT1900 and she is supported VPN worked for windows, but no documentation or configuration options for security, he was not a real solution.  I returned the netgear as technical support was not able to answer any question of VPN.

I would LOVE to see OpenVPN fully supported in this unit, because that would make a solution entirely "rounded" for power users.

    Thank you!

You can use the OpenWRT firmware. Information on the firmware OpenWRT for the WRT1900AC can be found in the post at the top of the forum list.
