  I've seen that happen before when opening a program via a shortcut (for example. LNK file), you are asked what type of program to open it with. After Word selection using the Select a program from a list of programs installedand check always use the selected program to open this type of file, the Word document referenced by the shortcut of origin opens in Word, as it should.

  The problem is that now all shortcuts (for example. LNK files) on the desktop or in the browser will want to be opened by Word. This is known as a file association. .   I see you have fixed this now, but I was about to tell you that you could have accommodated in the 'Bad' by its shortcut "I" tool.

  It also seems to me that with all these options, it's stupid not to take full advantage of them, so I separate my most used instruments for their own group and double column toolbar to adjust the screen.  I tried to drop in the groups for the most used tool near the document image (right).   Have you paid for Office (Word part of office) in a packaging separated when you bought your computer?

  Office is not included with your purchase of computer for free.

  Most new computers come with a trial version of Office that lets 'x' number of days usuage.

  After this test times out, you will have to buy Office.

  If buy you your computer desktop Manufacrtrer contact them for a replacement of desktop drive, then reinstall Office:
