Portege 2000: How to add device in Device Manager base system?

Hello

I'm trying to implement the SD card reader on my Portege 2000 running the Windows XP operating system.

I downloaded and installed the common modules and my BIOS has not updated.

I downloaded the SD host controller driver, but can't install it because I have no base system device manager for devices by reading me.

How do I get this so I can allow my SD card reader?

Thank you, happy new year

Becky

Hello

Base system device is usually the SD card controller. If you just install it should correct the problem.
SD host controller driver should be installed first. After the SD host controller driver is installed, you can install the SD memory card driver. The driver can be installed as follows:

SD host controller driver,
1. from the [start] menu, select [Settings], then click [Control Panel].
2. double-click [System], and select the [Hardware] tab.
3. click on [Device Manager].
4. double-click on [device Base System].
5. Select the [driver] tab and click [set to update driver].
6. click [next] and select [display a list of drivers that are known...].
7. click [next] and select [ECS] in [hardware types].
8. click on the [disc] button.
9 locate the folder "{CD player}: Windows XP Pro\Toshiba SD Host Controller Driver" and follow the instructions on the screen.
10. Finally, restart the Windows

For the SD memory card driver

After you have installed the SD host controller driver,
1. Insert the SD memory card into the SD slot.
2 operating system detects and starts to install the driver from SD card.
3. specify the INF ({CD player}: Windows XP Pro\Toshiba Driver SD Memory Card) and forward the installation process.
4 copy the file SDDEVMGR.dll in the Windows system directory.
Note that the system directory means \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 for Windows XP.

  • Portege 2000 - how to install Windows XP without ODD and FDD?

I have this Toshiba Portege 2000 old OS crashed a few days ago. This laptop is not an optical drive and a floppy drive.

The first thing is mind is to purchase an external optical drive which I did, but it does not seem to boot from it. I have trouble to install Windows XP but nothing helped.
Can you guys please help me?

The last option I have in mind would be to install Windows XP on a network. The portege 2000 is able to boot from PXE, the thing is that I don't know how to do it! Can someone tell me how to boot from PXE?

    Thank you very much.

I don't know Mr. but as far as I know if copy you the Windows XP CD to HARD disk and then you start from external floppy drive (it should work) you can start the installation.
Copy the XP CD to your HARD drive with a drive enclosure external DRIVE on another computer, create a boot floppy XP and start from it.
Go to the I386 folder and start the WINNT. EXE

Or you use the CD/DVD drive from another computer with the netbootdisk. I found this with Google:

    Hello Rockin5b,

Not knowing what exactly you did, well lets give this a try. Have you tried to uninstall your device manager then reboot? If you then, have you tried this quick fix link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060. You need to uninstall all third-party software (example: Roxio, Nero, or iTunes) from your computer before you make the correction. After you restart, you can reinstall your software and try again to see if that solves your problem. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

    Hello

I have a SL400 and upgraded to windows 7, sold separately, as I bought before June 29, 2009. I installed the op system and 4.0 thinkvantage system update to install the drivers. I don't really know what devices here as it is not indicated. The other problem is that the volume buttons do not work. It is more updated available through the TVT system so update... No idea what can be the problem?

    Thank you

    Hello:

It's the card reader Ricoh needing drivers.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-58981-1&CC=US&DLC=en&LC=en&os=2093&Product=3691813&sw_lang=

I doubt that hanging on startup has nothing to do with the missing pilot.

(Re) install the chipset driver and see if that helps.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-55407-1&CC=US&DLC=en&LC=en&os=2093&Product=3691813&sw_lang=

If this is not the case, go into the BIOS and run the hard drive diagnostics test and see what it reports.

Also, one of your memory modules may be peeling you.  Test each of them, a facility in time, by starting your PC with only one installed in time. See if the problem goes away when one or other of the memory of the chips is deleted.

Be sure to remove the battery and the a/c power before working inside your laptop.

  • How to add devices to the network of the homegroup?

I have two samsung bd-c5500 and they are connected to my home network and I stream from my Asus win7 64-bit wmp 12 (trednet router 802.11n.) I have my xbox 360 connected, but I barely use this device for streaming movies. Back to my question, on my local network my 360 laptop shows and xbox but it shows no samsung devices but if I click on all the networks I see samsung devices. Can I move samsung LAN devices?

    Hello

Homegroup is a way to network and share computers (some devices) that are working with the IPv6 TCP/IP stack.

If you Samsung bd-c5500 is not compatible with IPv6 (look on the Samsung support site), then you must configure the network as a working IPv4-based network.

  • Satellite 1100 - DVD disc in the missing device manager

My DVD Rom drive seems to have disappeared from my device manager. System will not read or write any DVD/CD.

How to restore the disc without using the recovery disk? (That won't work because the drive does not work)

    Hello

First of all, you should check if the BIOS can recognize the CD/DVD drive.
If the BIOS does not recognize the drive maybe the pin connection is loose or the disk is damaged.
If you have experience in laptop computers, you can check the connection of the PIN. Try to remove the disc and then start Notepad. After close connect the player again in the Bay and start the unit.

Check again if the drive appears in Device Manager. If he doesn t appear I guess that it s a hardware malfunction, and you need a new.

  • ACPI and ACPI DelayMan filter lid display errors in Device Manager

When I open the Device Manager, under system devices these two have errors associated with them.

    For ACPI DelayMan filter

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

    For ACPI lid

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

How can I solve this... and what are doing?

Well... Right-click on the ACPI lid, then choose uninstall the drivers. Do the same for the DelayMan filter. ACPI lid reinstalls itself after reboot and my DelayMan filter returned as an optional choice among the updates of Windows. I hope this helps.

Oh and I don't know even what delayman filter is actually. As far as I know is that when my ACPI lid had an error, it caused my pc to keep running away when I closed the lid (it doesn't go to sleep or anything over my option "Choose which computer does when the lid is closed" went from wins. Reinstall the driver restored back.
