  Because it's a new account (even if with the same name), the restore procedure is unable to put files and folders in the same place, they came (because this place technically no longer - if yes, then the process is done and the transfer is complete). It can create a set of separate files (maybe even under a new user name, if it has been stored in this way).  If so, all you need to do is copy the data as you would copy any other files and folders (not the main files of the user profile themselves but the data in them) on the new files in your user account and who will take care of the transfer.   Just a guess...  How is your external hard drive formatted?  For information, right-click on the drive and select "Properties".  There will be a line of "File System".  If the file system is one of the types of FATS (for example FAT32), then the maximum size of a single file is 4 GB.  If you have files larger than this, you will need to reformat the drive to "NTFS".  The procedure to do this is here:
