Portege 3480: How to reinstall Windows 2000

I got the original CD laptops, a new copy of W2000 and I can't get an any of them to work. I used the toshiba mini cd rom to install the CD and a freecom drive. When I use the external drive to tosh he gets where you are looking for my pcmcia card cdrom (free com and then dies).

My second approach was just to install 2000 and I got to the page where is demand to recover or install and when you use install he says no hd has been found, you may need to til cds that do not work.
Any ideas on how to work around this problem, I have a copy of 95, 98se, and 2000.

DOM

Hello Dom

What is the status of the HARD drive? Any OS already preinstalled and you are able to use wisely? Are you sure that the HARD drive is not faulty?

As far as I know with facilities compatible STRANGE recovery and original CD, it should work without any problem, because the recovery image contains the driver for PCMCIA connected external optical drives.

  • How to reinstall Windows 8 Pro

    Hello

How to reinstall in the same system windows 8 pro with already purchased product key online. I bought one DVD product key. There is a future for guidance only. How to reinstall Windows 8

    You have two options:

If you want to reinstall Windows 8, which means remove applications and personal files and settings, you can use the reset and refresh. This is equivalent to a clean install.

To do this, follow these steps:

    · Press the Windows key + i on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · In virtue remove all and reinstall Windows, click Start

Then follow instructions that will be provided on the screen to reinstall Windows on your PC.

    Option 2:

If you create an installation DVD or a USB bootable, you can use them to reinstall Windows. First, you will need to reinstall license qualification, then begin the upgrade to Windows 8. License of qualification means that you will need to reinstall Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

    Option 3:

A workaround for this situation is to create a system image of Windows 8, just after you have upgraded. So if your drive plant, you can simply restore the image on a new hard drive or restore the image on the same drive, if you want to reinstall Windos 8.

See the following for instructions on how to create an image of the installation process of Windows 8:

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/24/how-to-backup-your-installation-of-Windows-7/

(references Windows 7, but the same principles apply to Windows 8).

    Hello!

For this, you can use the Microsoft installation disc. I put t know what OS you want, but put the disc in the CD drive, boot from it and the installation begins.
After installation, you can begin to install the drivers you can download from the Toshiba site in * Archives *.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Maybe you can get a recovery disk Toshiba an ASP or eBay. The Toshiba Recovery disk contains factory settings and you need to download and install each driver. It does not take as long as the disc of Microsoft.

  • Satellite L750D - 1CP - how to reinstall Windows

    Hi all

I had my Toshiba for three years, which means that it becomes slower and fuller every day. I bought the laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed, so I never received a disc to re - install Windows if wanted. But at this point, I am a lot would like to reset my laptop to factory default, delete everything (installed programs, photos, downloads, data, etc.) and start from scratch, as if I just bought the laptop.

Could someone explain how to do this? As there must be a way to start over once again, re - install Windows and start over with a laptop completely empty...?

Looking forward to all the answers!

    Thank you very much

Hello. There are three ways for you to reinstall Windows:

First of all. Plug your AC cable and shut down your laptop. Then he turns on again and press 0 (zero, not on the NUM pad). Wait for the recovery menu to appear and choose the necessary recovery options.

In the second place. While in Windows 7 click on "Start" and go to "Control Panel". Then choose "System and security"-> "Restore your computer to an earlier time"-> "of the advanced recovery methods'-> 'return your computer to the factory State '.

In the third place. Buy CD/DVD recovery for your Toshiba noteboook.

  • How to reinstall windows XP?

    Hello

I need to reinstall windows XP Pro on my laptop A60.

I have no idea what to do, I watched the recovery disc and although a complete reinstall is simple, I really want to lose my information that I built.

I saw Drweekx post and Sylvain's response, but I don't know what are the particions or how to reinstall via the expert mode.

Is there someone to talk me through it?

    Thank you in advance

    XX Juddlin

    Hi again

Juddlin I can find you a few subjects. I really put t know where I can write to you. ;) Please stay on this one.

If you want to install OS using expert mode control his topic http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2513

At number 7 it of description Put again inside the new size of the partition, and then press ENTER. There you can put 50% of the maximum size of HARD drive. After this HARD drive will be split on both sides. The first (C) will be used for the operating system and all the software you need. The other (D), you can use to store all your sensitive data.

If you sometimes in the future had to reinstall OS again use Expert mode and reinstall the operating system on the first partition. All the data you have on the second partition, you can use again.

Sorry, but you're on the wrong track

Timox has already explained how to install the system.
If the HARD drive recovery is not possible, you should use external media (disk or flash USB stick) to install the system.

You have a Windows disc? If this isn't the case, you need a.
If so, you could create an installation key USB flash memory.

If you would google to install Windows 7 from USB you will get much useful occurrences
There are also a lot of youtube videos how to create this bootable USB key.

  • How to reinstall windows without losing any data on the Satellite A100

    Hello everyone!
I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop and would like to reinstall Windows. The disc was divided into 2 parts. WinXp Home is installed on the first.

What happens with the data on the secondary disk if I use the recovery CD? It will be formatted?
And if this is the case, how can I reinstall winXP Home without losing the data on the second drive?

You can install the OS on the first partition only and all data saved on the second partition will not be deleted. To do this procedure of departure recovery and after choosing the language button tablecloth call SETUP. It is placed on the right side.

If I like what you must remember he chose the second option. The first one can be used when you want to create the new partition (DO NOT choose this one).

    Bye and good luck!

I recently acquired a portege 3480 with xp installed.
I've searched high and low and cannot find a method
to change the brightness of the display. Anyone anyone? Büeler?

    Hello

already tried the fn key combination? I don't know how it is with your portege, but it should be like FN - F6 and FN + F7 to change the brightness of the display.
Unfortunately, there are no XP drivers (or just the audio driver) for the machine to change it manually.
You should try the FN key combination, there should be a sign that looks like a little 'Sun' with an arrow up/down in front.

I need to reinstall windows vista on my Satellite L300 because of a problem, I had with it (the computer does not start and the recovery option does not work). It has not come with a windows CD so how can I reinstall it?

(I can not contact the provider because I is not guaranteed).

You had an option pre-installed on your laptop that you helped to create the recovery disk. Seems you didn't create this disk in the past

Well, in this case, you can order the CD here:

  • Pavilion p6230y: how to reinstall Windows on a new hard drive

    Hello

Recently, I had a hard drive failure. The drive is about 7 years so I understand he lived a life busy for a long time, and I plan replace it. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the recovery discs and I don't have a windows CD, because it is installed on the disk hard when I bought the computer. If I had to buy a new HARD drive, how would I reinstall Windows on it without re-purchase a copy? I was told there would be a product key on the chasis somewhere but I couldn't find the model and serial number for the bureau, nothing to do with Windows. I also searched HP website to see if I could order recovery disks, but this option is not visible anywhere. Help, please!

    Thank you, Alex.

    Alex, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, because you did not the system recovery media when you bought the computer, you will need to buy a full copy of Windows 7.

Here's a guide to help you try to order the HP discs.  However, I believe that it is very unlikely that they are always available from your computer is more than 7 years old.

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.
