Portege 3500 will not start up disk

Hello

I recently acquired the laptop above. I decided that I would try to reconstruct it, bad idea.
I don't have an external CD or recovery CD but I have another laptop and a Windows XP CD.

I removed the HARD drive the 3500 and put it in my other laptop. I formatted the drive and installed windows. Everything worked Ok and good boots in my other laptop. When I put the disc in the 3500 however, it will not start. All I see is a black screen, not even a cursor or any error.

I tried to format the drive again and the sys'ing, it does not work. I tried installing on my other laptop then continue on the 3500 but that doesn't work either.

I was wondering if the 3500 was looking for a partition that I deleted. I don't see why it will not start when start up ok in my other laptop HARD drive.

Someone at - it ideas?

Thank you
Simon

I don't think that this has nothing to do with the score. You get the black screen, because the other laptop is quite different installed on Windows ACPI etc.
If you have a usb floppy drive try this:
1 partition and format the disk with Fat32 (or fat 16).
2. from your installation CD copy the i386 on the partition directory (attach the HARD drive to another laptop)
3. start the P3500 leave a floppy disk bootable BACK, change to the I386 directory and start the winnt.exe

  • Satellite P300-1 c 8 will not start up disk drive

I had a little play with the start up programs, partitioning the hard drive and the marking as assets and remove programs I thought I didn't need.

I put the hard drive in another laptop and it works fine.

The only thing I have not tried is the restore disc but I'm not paying for one if it does not start as itl be a waste of money.
Looks like it is a compatibility issue with the processor and hard drive because they won't be friends!

    Thanks in advance

    Hello!

You can start in safe mode?

If you don t have a recovery disk, use the Microsoft installation disc and try to boot from it.
And you said that you can boot from the hard t disc, done you have tried different discs?
Maybe some are not legible or not bootable.

The best way would be a recovery disk. The installation takes a few minutes and you have a clean install with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

    Hello

What external hard drive that you are using?
I read in this forum of Toshiba that not all external drives are compatible.
You need a support if you want to boot from the CD!

  • Portege 3500 will not load XP

    This message to Tom Mannerhagan.

    Tom,
Am down to the tocdrom of the access and the HARD drive.

    UBCdrive T
And a flashing Q:\ > (which is access BACK?)
You can talk to me through the last part.
Which folder? How can I copy it a temp on the HARD drive?
When I insert the XP disk it prompt me? Usually it starts just the starting load.
Furthermore, it shows only 3 stars on the side. I gave you 10. If I made a mistake and then will try and understand well this time!

    Martin

    Hi Martin

So sad to hear that you have paid for it but nice to hear that you finally have the access you need.

    -Insert the WIndows XP CD
-Create a folder i386 to the HARD disk by writing the following after the command prompt: MD c:\i386
Don't mind large or small letters. If you get an error message that the file already exists, then you must remove the old one.
    Do this by writing

    DELTREE c:\i386

    and confirm on Y
After that, again try to create the directory by writing
    MD c:\i386

and copy the contents of the CD to the HARD drive by writing
    xcopy t:\i386 c:\i386/e
This will take some time so do something else for a while.
When finished, start the installer with
    c:\i386\winnt

You will receive a message that smartdrive wolud improve installation speed but I don't think that there is a software cache'ing available on CD and I can't find one on the BootCD so you have to manage without one.

    Good luck

    Tom

  • Recovery disk will not start on Satellite 1110

I try to use the recovery on a Satellite 1110 CD. I want to just install fresh Windows. The necessary files are supposed to be on the Toshiba recovery CD that accompanies it.

So I did what the brochure says, and booted up the laptop to the top with the correct CD in the drive, while pressing 'C '. The notebook ignored the CD ROM and loaded Windows as usual. I repeated three times, each time that the CD ROM whirs a bit but will not start and Windows loads as usual. I have replaced 'C' for F12, chose the CD ROM drive in the list and repeat the process several times. Yet once it wouldn't boot from the CD-ROM.

I looked at the content of the CD ROM A single MB 447. File of the GHS. The file icon is that generic type "Windows does not know what program this icon is intended to" deals.

Google believes it is a ghost file and must the ghost installed to run it. This bitch never came with Ghost.

Anyone here knows a remedy to this problem?

  • Pre installed Vista on iQon will not start. No available disk. The manufacturer had to cease their activities. I have the product key for Vista. Buy a Microsoft store repair disc?

IQON laptop manufacturer had to cease their activities. Pre installed Vista - no disc. Vista will not start. Unable to access restore or recovery mode.

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

And Microsoft sells more than Vista.

    Try this:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer (In your particular hardware manufacturer case) and get the latest drivers for your particular model computer or laptop.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

  • Portege R100 does not start

Can someone help me please. My Portege R100 does not start, when I turn the following text appears: in touch with tomorrow toshiba. After a few seconds a black screen with a blinking cursor on the left side of the screen.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Rehana,

The Toshiba screen you will see first is the initial start screen is displayed while loading the BIOS. Once the BIOS has completed its process of loading, the system tries to boot the operating system and it is at this point that you have found the black screen with the blinking cursor in the upper left.

Unfortunately, this indicates usually that the laptop can not load the operating system from the hard drive, or because the hard disk itself has not the contents have been damaged somehow.

You might try to charge your laptop in 'safe' mode (press F8 during the initial loading of the BIOS) or you can try to boot your laptop from a bootable CD/DVD and hard drive.

Finally, you can try to re - install your OS from the recovery CD.

    Kind regards

If you can't get the iMac began and ongoing implementation, you will not be able to use the target disk Mode:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201462

Then the option is to take the iMac HARD drive, install it in an enclosed, and connect the HARD drive to the MBA via the USB port.  If the HARD drive is recognized, you can copy the data out of it.
